The pitching, for the most part, has been and should be fine this season. Lange drives me bonkers and I’m not sure Wentz will last the season. But I think the depth they’ve assembled along with the coaching, development, and game usage, all of those variables should keep them above water. The offense needs something. Oh, here we go. Canha can do.

Yeah, Kennedy probably isn’t anyone to worry about losing on waivers. The problem right now are the health of Kreidler and Leonard. Sure, they’re only at AAA, but it affects the MLB roster if something happens to one of the IF. The other thing is it’s only mid April. Of course these games count just as at any other point in the season, but it’s early. My guess is they wait another week or two and then go from there. But given the past few seasons, they can’t let the hitting malaise last too long.

The day ends with the Tigers at a .571 winning percentage. Maintain that and it’s 92 wins. I’ll take it. Easier said than done, I know. But it’s April and the Tigers are above water.

4 starting pitchers today and all went at least 6 innings, almost a clean sweep of quality starts. They all came through with what their teams needed on a doubleheader day. In particular, the second game starters flowed through with what was needed given the first game extra innings. Hat tip to the quartet.
