I suspect this might be true. Or maybe too much loyalty? Mike Ilitch had been called too loyal at times. Just look how long he kept someone like Randy Smith around even when it was obvious that he wasn't cut out for the role.
I don't know. I think Keith and Malloy aren't exactly too dissimilar from each other on some of their non traditional metrics. Perez is earning his stay.
Oh, I'm not suggesting they go all Whitey Herzog Missouri track team without home run threat up and down the order. They'll need to have some power threat, even if its not big bopper types.
I heard that, its towards the end of the podcast if anyone wants to listen to it. I liked watching the Brewers' brand of baseball that series but hadn't connected it to Comerica. I've always wanted an OF with range and defensive skill sets to go with an offense that gets on base and creates havoc on the bases since they moved in there. They've never quite accomplished that.
Another reminder, he is coming off of injury and had been shelved for quite a while. Hopefully he can continue on an upward trajectory and finish the season strong.
Urshela had quite the defensive game. It was one of those games that was brought up about Willie Mays. He might have had an 0fer in the hitting line, but he gave you something somewhere else to make you pause and take notice. Urshela had that twice in the first two innings today.
He looks effortless sometimes. I don't know if he has the ability to help at SS anymore. But he only has to be better than McKinstry/Kreidler at the moment, so the bar isn't high.
That’s a good point about his back. Provided good health, I am not worried about what the floor of a deal could be inasmuch as considering what the ceiling could be.
Manning pitched yesterday. Montero pitched Friday. Neither were good. In fact, Manning’s not exactly endearing himself to the organization with his AAA work.
I think we all assume Flaherty will be traded. I kind of wonder if there’s a market for him now. Is there a team that has enough value added by acquiring him now as opposed to closer to the trade deadline. There’s the obvious getting him before anyone else that might consider him at the deadline. But does he help his next team with the, what is it, 6 to 8 extra starts he might give his next team?
Seems like the Tigers already have an underwhelming bat at 1B and an unknown at 2B. But, yeah, maybe its something to consider just to see what shakes out.
I'm still wondering about Keith to 3B after this season. If he can get his legs under him in the 2nd half, if Torkelson can revive himself, if a big sack of money suddenly shows up on my doorstep,......
