  1. I think that the US govt response is very good so far, with the possibility of more moves to come. But he is not a good presenter, that is for sure.
  2. I just buy the index, it is a pretty consistent second quartile performer and the fees are extremely low. I am 70 years old and 100% invested in equities. The "advisors" who work in the banks think that bonds are "less risky" because it said so on page 1 of the Financial Planning text, but those books were not written at a time when interest rates have nowhere to go but up, and bond prices nowhere to go but down. I would like to have some fixed income but at today's rates I might as well bury the money in a coffee can in my back yard.
  3. I just don't think it's a slam dunk. I would hope so though.
  4. I don't see Afghanistan as a comparison. It wasn't a NATO member. It was invaded though...by NATO.
  5. I don't get the reference. A friend or ally was not invaded on 9/11. The historical first would be entering a conflict on behalf of a friend or ally that had been invaded. If you guys think that congress would approve it, you would know better than I would.
  6. That is the point for sure.
  7. Yes, I am aware. It would be a historical first though.
  8. Yes I know that you are under an obligation. The question remains, would Congress approve it? If you think it's a slam dunk, that's a possibility.
  9. No, he would like those Baltic states. He knows that it is by no means a sure thing that all of Lithuania's NATO allies will come to its defense. Do you think that Biden would get Congressional approval to send combat troops to fight the Russians in Lithuania?
  10. I saw Richard Jenne doing standup once, pretending to announce delegates at a political convention with their state slogans: From New Jersey, the "What the fuck are you lookin' at" state, ...
  11. No thanks, we don't actually want all of you. 🙂We will take New England (one province, not a bunch of dinky little ones), every state that has Great Lakes shoreline (carve out New York City, don't want it), Washington and maybe Oregon. Maybe Alaska. Done!
  12. My first time walking up the ramp and seeing that green field, the seats were green too. Beautiful.
  13. That looks like Egon Spengler on the cover.
  14. Same here, got it for Christmas a year ago.
  15. Putin won't suffer personally from the sanctions, so I doubt that he will be deterred by them. They have been part of his calculation all along, and he doesn't care about hardships for other Russians. And he knows this with absolute certainty: the United States will not enter a shooting war over Ukraine under any circumstances, no matter what he does. If the sanctions cause enough dissatisfaction in the population to weaken his grip on power, he would notice that. But how likely is that to occur?
  16. He'd be crazy to take the money now.
  17. Soto at age 22 hit like Barry Bonds at age 27.
  18. JFK caused the Cuban missile crisis by installing missiles in Turkey in 1961; Khruschev's counter move of installing missiles in Cuba in 1962 made Kennedy back down and remove them . And, he couldn't keep his pants zipped up. So just leaning over your back fence, I'd say that he does not belong in your top 15.
  19. Good luck finding lakefront property that isn't occupied by that Mexican caravan of drug dealers and rapists.
  20. Willie McCovey was the only guy to see a shift in Cepeda's prime.
  21. Deaden the ball of course, back to 1985, but that twerp Manfred won't ever do it. So, failing that, keep shifting until guys learn to go the other way. Or, when the third baseman plays short against a lefthanded batter, drop a bunt down. That is a skill that can be developed in a relatively short period of time.
  22. World's largest sand trap.
  23. Someone in the last game of the prior World Series?
  24. Ron Blomberg by the way was just a young kid and just happened to be the first DH. He had played parts of 2 seasons before that and was a guy that almost no one outside of New York had ever heard of.
