  1. If Lukashenko made any noises about NATO... Putin would stop this insanity immediately. Full stop.
  2. Hmmm... Avila's statement hasn't aged very well...
  3. I've watched that multiple times.
  4. That's actually how I was approaching this year anyways, as a developmental year and not a playoff year. But we were all hoping (myself included) that they'd make a run, perform better than last year, and not start out as total shit like they did last year. So that still sucks...
  5. I don't want to give up on the season just yet... But WTF is wrong with these guys and the 1st 35 games of the season? Do they not understand Sparky-speak?
  6. So sad that it's come to this.
  7. Well... here's my thinking: 1) I believe we're in the "team-building" phase right now, not just the "draft any kind talent we can get our hands on because we have nothing in the NHL or in the farm system" phase... I think Stevie Y has gotten us past the bereft-of-talent stage we were in. Accordingly, IMO, it is more important to add a "key" player rather than a couple really good players. And I get that there's no generational talent or huge separation amongst the top prospects this year... But I believe that a 2nd-line Center is enough of an overwhelming need that we should take that chance. 2) Steve Yzerman. He has balls of steel. 3) I am hoping, along with everyone else in here... and Stevie Y, and whomever our new Head Coach will be... that we actually start playing better... like "in the playoffs next year" better. Our future 1st rounders should start being in the mid-draft to playoff seeded draft spots... hopefully starting next year. The value of a Wright or Cooley.. both extremely dangerous Centers... again, IMO, is more valuable than the 8th guy this year and the 15th guy next year. 4) We're going to have a rush of new prospects coming up this year and next, the timing is right to add key skills. 5) OK.. our D sucks. But referencing #4 above, several of those key youngsters coming up are Defenseman. I want a top 6 Center coming up as soon as possible. That's Wright or Cooley. I want one of them. And I am perfectly fine with Yzerman making a deal to get one of them. If it costs less than (2) 1sts... all the better.
  8. IE: Is it worth it to trade this and next year's 1st rounder to get up to the #1 pick?
  9. Is this a good year for a trade up to, or near, the top? Say top 4 gets us one of Wright, Cooley, or Savoie... Do we want only one of the top two or can we live with a smaller Savoie? Can we get him at #6? Or should we push for a top 3 pick to get most likely Cooley...? What would the cost be? For the #1 pick (Wright)? The #3 pick (Colley)? The # 5 or 6 pick (Savoie)?
  10. Not a bad retirement plan. I'm jealous...
  11. I spotted a dementia type disease in Archie Bunker. That's what you are talking about, right?
  12. Except that MTF is held to a much higher standard... IMO. (At least I would like to think as much... based on the quality of most of our forumites).
  13. How old are you? 12?
  14. I can think of worse words than that, and more accurate. How about a lying hypocritical MF'er (if she were a guy that is...)?
  15. Fight back.
  16. War crimes. Who will actually pay the price for committing them in Ukraine? (Rhetorical...) Answer: noone.
  17. That would be called kidnapping and holding hostages. I'm sure Putin/ Lavrov are calling it something else... (I know what they're calling it... but we all knew it was BS before that article even posted...)
  18. PS: Anyone remember Nixon and stagflation?
  19. Anyone who DOESN'T think the Fed made rate decisions based on Trump is a fucking idiot.
  20. PS: I do love the first part of that statement as I have a personal philosophy of equilibrium with the environment. If we are going to act like a plague of locusts instead of human beings then we are an overpopulated species.
  21. Right... which was why I said "Primarily"... although 1% prior and 1.5% due to the pandemic...? Maybe primarily is not the correct word. "Majority", "Overweight"...? Just fishing here for the right term. Oh I have no problem getting political in here whatsoever... So... while I said primarily due to the Pandemic... The 1% was pure Pandering. Pandering to a fascist wannabe deuchebag like Trump. I would have wanted to be in the Fed at just that time... I would have felt like the Ukrainian soldiers on Snake Island: "Fascist Wannabe MF'ing Deuchebag Trump, Go Fuck Yourself". I could be making a killing off of selling T-Shirts.
  22. The rates were dropped primarily because of the pandemic and the massive unemployment and potential recession that followed. Stimulus checks to keep people afloat while they didn't have jobs to go to was fine. And they basically avoided a recession by dropping the rates combined with the stimulus (and extended unemployment benefit) packages. The stops and starts and multiple Covid waves during the recovery made the Feds ability to read or react in proactive way where it concerns inflation limited. And understandable. I don't even criticize them harshly for not acting sooner. I think it was just really hard to do so given the pandemic circumstances. My point was only that, by September of last year inflationary indicators were clear enough, and the recovery of spending/ economy/ employment was clear enough, that they could have initiated some 1/4 point adjustments. They didn't, they delayed... and now we'll suffer the consequences of a few 50 basis point adjustments.
  23. That asks for the eradication of humankind as they are a disease/ cancer/ plague. I thought your point was reduced birth rates are not a problem. (Hence, reduced homo sapiens population... but not eradication). Hence: Thanos (who is MCU by the way, not DC), who snapped his fingers for an instant reduction of all life by 50%. Forget reduced birth rates, I want to snap my fingers.
  24. This should have a pic of THANOS in your post.
