  1. And are the Dems trumpeting these? Because they should be... Or are the Republicans drowning out these news items with their BULLSHITE again? I'll give three guesses...
  2. That's gotta change. Excellent idea!
  3. If he carves out a career as a decent back up that's already a plus for us... anything more than that would be gravy...
  4. Terrible. And yet cool at the same time! (Unless they are really creepy... he had quite a few of those as well...).
  5. I think that's not fair to Avila. He did draft and develop Turnbull, did draft and develop Matt Manning, he did put in analytics prior to Hinch arriving, he did trade for Candelario/ Rogers/ Cameron/ Wentz, etc., he did find guys out of nowhere like Baddoo/ Cisnero/ Haase, etc... Now I believe Hinch is a huge linchpin that makes everything work. He gets credit for that. And for making the Tigers an (almost .500) winning team, because he can apply concepts at the MLB-level team and, hopefully, that filters downward. But I have maintained this all along, and especially saw it early this season: I think this board is hugely unfair to Al Avila. He built this team, and the current organization/ philosophy/ etc. Including hiring Hinch. And Hinch? He makes it all work. So yes, he is invaluable... and potentially in the future, more valuable than AA (if not already). But Avila deserves credit.
  6. Draft and Develop. We'll see over the next few years how good he is at that. And if the Org is doing that proficiently. And for several years after that whether what he built is sustainable, and sustains the Tigers as a winning team, over the next 10 years. It's what I expected from Dombrowski (history of that with the 80's White Sox, early 90's Expos, and late 90's Marlins) but we never got. As outlined by you, above. Also, it still looks like Hinch is a major linchpin in the future success of our Draft & Develop strategy. From the MLB level, and down.
  7. Usually its a "lack of legs" after not playing for quite awhile that causes lots of jump shot misses... So give him a few games to "get his legs back"?
  8. I'm looking for a high end starter on a short term deal. Obviously there are risks on guys returning from TJ... but those are the 1st two options I would consider... and then be hunting for 30's year old guys that are still pitching at a high level but could possibly be had on a 1/2/3-year deal (no consideration for anything over 3 years)... Candidates? At the top of my list: Verlander - 1 year prove-it Syndergaard - 1 year prove-it Alex Wood - can he be had on a short-term deal? 2 or 3 years? Collin McHugh - can he be had on a short-term deal? 2 or 3 years? Robbie Ray - is probably going to get himself a 5 or 6 year deal for big money, so I think he's out of consideration... But I think those would be the top 5 guys on my list...
  9. Are we afraid to chase Syndergaard? And if so, why?
  10. They gave him $25 Billion (PS: that was a BI-PARTISAN $25B because Republicans were all for it, and Dems agreed) and Trump turned it down because Steven Miller told him to. Oh yeah, it helped out 250,000 "Dreamers" so fuck them, right Coulter & Miller and your ilk? But... oh wait, that means no $25 Billion for "The Wall" because 250K Dreamers... Makes perfect white trash bigoted sense, doesn't it?
  11. This is about as close to accurate as is possible. The only thing I would change is that if both BBB and Infrastructure had passed at least a month before the election then VA would not have been lost. It's as much about the bickering and non-passage of legislation as it is about a want list. I am assuming your want list is Infrastructure and not necessarily BBB?
  12. I think Miley is fool's gold at his age. Not interested, I'd like to find better. Now, if that were Tyler Mahle, I'd say lets take a shot to try and get him. Alas... tis ain't.
  13. The few times I've watched him he is too easily getting knocked off balance and losing the puck all too often. So he still needs some improvements, IMO, in the areas I outlined...
  14. I believe there is a simple solution for the Dem's... Quit looking dysfunctional and pass the infrastructure and BBB bills, don't stumble over raising the debt level, etc... Look competent, pass meaningful legislation, give the economy a big pop... And the votes will come in for Dems. IMO.
  15. Nobody thinks 0-17 is fine for development. Except for getting a #1 pick. But I'm pretty certain the "fine" with 0-17 crowd thinks that 0-17 is... Meaningless. Not "fine for development"... meaningless.
  16. See the ball. Hit the ball.
  17. Yep.
  18. Penei Sewell? Still at LT until if/ when Decker pushes him back to RT... But at this rate... might just never happen with Wally "Pipp" Decker.
  19. After hearing from Motown Bombers... I'm eager to see... Choices.
  20. As for Apple... A different kind of knowledge...
  21. No... the apple is knowledge. And an "all-knowing" god hates that common folk gain knowledge. If they gain knowledge... they know that "god" is just a man-made folk-story to explain the world, death, weather phenomena, etc... "god" wants people stupid and compliant. Therefore an apple from the tree of knowledge is anathema. Also known as a "sin".
  22. If you want to talk about an explosive trade... How about D'Andre Swift?
  23. Very interesting. Surprised that's the way Blashill decided to go, but... Very interesting.
  24. Rasmussen needs to look like that: stronger on his skates, stronger control of the puck, quicker reactions...
