I'm just going to WAG that in the 1st two rounds of this year's NFL draft... The Lions will draft a... LT, and a DE. Not necessarily in that order.

He hasn't been the same since he broke his fibula... But this will be his 3rd year after that so if he's going to get back to any explosiveness that he used to have... Now would be the time So... We'll see.

That's an interesting thought also... Especially the kickoff returns as they are currently constructed...

I'd like Malcolm, Maddox and Rock Ya-Sin back as 1st line of (backup) defense depth pieces. Zylstra too but I think Holmes/ DC will be looking for TE upgrades this offseason. Reader is a maybe to me... Khalif already signed elsewhere and I think the Lions are relying on who they already have but also... to me... I'd rather not spend the money on Khalif if we are looking to shave some money somewhere. I think Holmes can find cheaper 6th/7th/UDFA's who specialize in the return game to replace him cheaply... But it would definitely be beneficial to get Malcolm, Maddox & Ya-Sin back... IMO.

I could see this... And I would love it too. About time we get at least one CB above 6'. Woolen at 6' 4" is not just a tall guy either... He can play.

A'Shawn Robinson released. Sign him up as a rotational DT/ Depth-DT? He's 31 so he's not getting a major starting gig... I think. But he's been healthy and productive...

And here's the next point: In which ****ing universe are the Iranians NOW going to give up their nuclear goals? NUNCA! Iran will NEVER (now that Trump has shown how belligerent America can be (under his leadership that is...)) give up its nuclear aspirations. They will now see, as North Korea saw, that they MUST have nuclear bombs as an existential necessity.

I'd like to grab Justin Fields on a Tua contract... Maybe even for 2 or 3 years... Low salary but a large bonus for every start he makes... understanding that Goff is the #1 and he might not get any starts... But I think our staff could "rehabilitate" him... and he could "show" in preseason and/or any injury games he had to cover for Goff. We either have a pretty good backup... or another team decides to take a second chance with him and makes us an offer... A mid-round pick still has value to Brad Holmes... Just thinking out loud...

I wanted Kwity Paye but not at $16 mill AAV? WTF? He ain't worth that much. Maybe half that at best as a run-stopping DE that doesn't generate a whole lot of pass-rush but can walk into a few sacks... I wanted him as a placeholder for Faulk or Zion Young and as a quality depth guy... But $16 mill AAV? Yeesh!!!

Aside from MB's tongue in cheek... I also think Kyler can find a starting gig somewhere... So who is going to be squeezed out of a starting gig? We lose out on Kyle Allen as a backup so... how about Justin Fields?

Also... everyone here might believe Manu is hot garbage... But DC and Holmes may think otherwise. I have no idea what they think about him... I'm just sayin'.

Edge Rusher and LT are their top two needs... But... I don't believe they will overreach. Whoever falls to #17 that they love will address one of those needs... And there are just lots of guys who look like they fit what the Lions look for and are worth that spot... A couple guys that are secondary to their top "love" will end up in the early 2nd IMO... Faulk, Mauigoa, Fano, Young, Iheanachor, Freeling, Mesidor, Parker... One or a couple of 'em will be there at #17 and then Holmes will just have to maneuver to pick up his second guy... Moving up from #50 to 35-ish or so... Which I believe they have the 4th and 5th rounders to equal that... should put them in the right spot to grab the other position on a guy that Holmes also "loves". But I'm just guessing.

Well... Crap.

I would prefer to key on pass-protection and tough yards running (goalline, 3rd/4th and shorts...) But I don't want to lose receiving completely either... Otherwise I'd be all-in on Brian Robinson. I think I'd prefer Najee Harris over Jones but... he's coming off injury... Could the Cardinals just release James Conner please...? They were rumored to be doing so... That's the guy I want most... a released (if it happens...) Conner. But... Waiting... Waiting...

I also really liked Allgeier... Holmes will just have to pivot to...

I think this allows them the flexibility to use a later round pick (4th/ 5th/ 6th...) On any interior lineman, for depth and competition, that they like... Without it being position specific. Center. Guard. A guy flexible enough to be play all along the line... Whomever they like best as a draftee... without being boxed in by any kind of need... Even though I know Holmes drafts for the player that he likes... not for need... I still like the additional flexibility.

A little bit more than I thought... But it gives us some IOL depth, and flexibility... IMO.
