There are so many guards though. At least three guys in the 2nd/3rd round area, Tate Ratledge, Mbow and Savaiinnaea that I like quite a lot. Maybe Dylan Fairchild too, who the Lions looked at. It's so much harder to find pass-rushing DT's and high-quality edge rushers and cornerbacks... If Holmes REALLY surprises me... it would be to select Will Johnson or Shavon Revel who were both considered top 15 pick CB's but are falling due to their injuries... Otherwise... I'm really looking for a DT or DE in the 1st and a Guard in the 2nd... Of course Brad is going to draft exactly a Brad Holmes player so I don't know who that is. But I'm still hoping for pass-rush first...

No, he ran double TE sets with the Lions with LaPorta and Brock Wright. Loveland doesn't look Ebron-ish to me. I'm not saying he is or isn't LaPorta... I just don't see the resemblance (playing style) to Ebron.

I don't think Mina Kimes is an NFL crew, I believe she has a show on ESPN and her podcast/ youtube show. I don't believe I've seen her on NFL...

The Texans already traded two 5ths (this year and 2027) to the Browns for their 6th and two 7ths. I could see Brad doing something similar... trading our 6th and two 7ths for a couple of 5th rounders, with one in a future draft... especially if he has a "Lions 3rd round grade" on a guy they really LOVE and he's slipped into the 5th round... It would make sense to chase quality rather than quantity...

Do you get NFL channel on TV? On your cable? They're also covering the 1st round and are a little more adult than the gaggle of ESPN 13 year olds...

They've looked at several RB's though, I think with either "30" or local visits. And at least one (I didn't look at all of them) also is in the same mode... shorter (Cam Skattebo) but built like a tank.

I don't think that's true for the positions you mentioned. We could use a 3rd safety, we could use a 3rd developmental TE (who may not even threaten LaPorta but every other TE on the team) and a drafted RB could just as easily pressure Montgomery's roster spot in a couple years as Gibbs'... I'll throw another position out there... QB. If they draft a mid-round QB it's no reflection on Goff... but Hooker better start worrying about his spot. I think on the D-Line you would absolutely be true. O-Line. LB'er and WR... Those all have veterans who could be moved on with youth, or a WR (Jamo) that the team is uncertain about. Jamo cut off his link to the Lions social media... I'm guessing Holmes told him "No, we are not going to offer you an extension". So that's already indicating to me they'll pick up his 5th year option and trade him next year or... just move on after this season. Just my 2 cents.

Actually, I am looking at it differently. I am looking at those guys as possible emergency callups. I think everyone named is at least good enough to be tested in AAA. So I am looking for them to "get blooded" so to speak and if they prove not yet ready for AAA then let them sink back to AA. Those that can survive or even thrive at AAA may be useful in Detroit if the need arises. I don't think Cruz is anything special either... a utility guy maybe... but I just want these guys tested as soon as possible at the higher level. I know the Org will make these decisions when they're ready to... Just saying... And to LLM's point, the pitchers at AA are far more interesting than the hitters...

I think there needs to be a wholesale swap between Erie and Toledo: Carlos Mendoza, Max Anderson, Trei Cruz, and Justice Bigbie permanently promoted to Toledo. Bigbie might already be there but I don't know if that's permanent or 1 game. Maybe Campos too as, even though he hasn't shown AA power yet, he's hitting .295 in a SSS. Jaden Hamm, Troy Melton & Jake Miller promoted to Toledo's rotation. Possibly Bergner too. And probably reliever Dylan Smith too. Toledo's starters can be sent to Erie, but NOT Manning or Lockhart... who I think should be pushed into the bullpen asap. Lockhart I would keep stretched out for long outings or spot starts... But Manning needs to be limited to 1-inning outings. IMO. Just my 2 cents...

Mets top 4 is very, very... MEH. No thank you. Boston Red Sox? They won't include Mayer. Baltimore? They won't do it. Your best bet if you wanted to try this: The Phillies. Dombrowski will trade top prospects for an annual Cy. Andrew Painter, Aidan Miller, Justin Crawford or Griffin Burkholder, and Moises Chace... Maybe. Who says no?

Even with an offseason Jose Quintana or Chris Sale trade the guys you get could flop out or underperform. Go for the World Series. Take the comp pick if we're unable to extend him.

Trey Hendrickson. Parsons or Hendrickson. I would love Parsons... but he would cost at least those two 1sts... I wonder what it would cost to get Hendrickson in a Jamo trade? If it's nothing but a 2026 3rd rounder and a 2025 6th or 7th... I might prefer Hendrickson even though Parsons is far superior (and younger).

More smoke though: Jamo cut off his link to Lions social media... or something like that... Trading Jamo now means a team can pick up his 5th year and have two relatively affordable years to both have his services and to evaluate fit/ temperament etc... I'm not certain what that's worth... But it's also possible that Holmes is thinking the "it's better to cut ties one year too early rather than one year too late..." I don't know what he's thinking... But I think for myself I will wait for all the pieces to stop moving and evaluate at that point. If Brad has a plan, and it makes the team better, I'm good. Even if it costs Jamo...
