They could have used both. And it's easier to find a plug at LB'er than a CB1, IMO, so that's the direction I would have gone. I think the criticism of the Campbell pick is that he was not dynamic enough to be selected at that spot. He has yet to show otherwise. I mean, he may yet... If he's not Von Miller or Khalil Mack... if he's only another Anzalone... then isn't a CB1 more valuable? Or maybe he turns into a Jerod Mayo and the discussion turns again... But I'm not going to quibble here... Holmes/ DC are obviously putting together an outstanding team. Which includes Campbell. Just throwing out a couple of concepts... I think a Miller or Mack are of the highest value. A true CB1 is probably right at the same level. An Anzalone is certainly not. But a Mayo is...? I don't know... equivalent? Slightly less in modern day pass-happy football? Close enough to not quibble...? Just... Food for thought.

Holmes/ DC/ Glenn are huge into the ball-hawking skills. What Mitchell also provides is a hammer in run support (tackling, hitting, etc...). Some CB's are shy with tackling. Others hit willingly and hard. The speed is important for a CB, the ball-hawking is important to our management/coaching team, but so is tackling ability and willingness. It's why DeJean would be on the Lions board, and Mitchell and Tampa, etc... but the very weak tacklers this year are (rumored per draft rags...) Wiggins and Kool-Aid. My guess is if one or both of those CB's fall to the Lions (Wiggins/ Kool-Aid), that the Lions pick someone else, even if they are "rated" lower than those two. I'm trying to "think" like Holmes/ DC here...

1) Soybean farmers adapt. Trump bailed them out (sort of... he ****ed that up too) in years 1 nd 2. By Year 3 they are no longer planting soybeans, but corn or some other crop... 2) If we're talking effectiveness; Biden has ACTUALLY implemented policies that are GROWING our manufacturing base again. Why? Because he knows what he's doing. And Tariffs are a MINOR part of that. 3) And what does MAGA see? They're too hung up on "tariffs" or, especially "TRUMP, I LOVE YOU!!!!!" to actually notice anything else. Even if it is easily explained to them. They just don't CARE. They're entrapped inside a cult and they DO NOT CARE. That's called myopia. That's called dysfunctional. That's called abject stupidity, BY CHOICE. They've CHOSEN to close their eyes to anything and everything. "God" (I'm an atheist) help us all.

If he does this he's in the running for a top-10-ish/ 15-ish selection.

I just did that in 3 sentences. I mean, I agree with you... most regular Joe's aren't going to get into these weeds. But it isn't really that difficult to grasp the basic outlines of making smart moves instead of dumb moves. I should know... most of my family is MAGA. I've had these arguments... a LOT. But here's the real reason they can be such idiots: I explain. They get it. They understand. And then they respond with: "I don't care. I just want Trump to break everything". Myopic. I believe Glenn is being lauded mostly as a "leader of men", "future head coach", "coaches the guys up brilliantly", and not so much as an X's and O's genius. But still... I am seeing him adapt to the Lions defense's weaknesses, in my opinion, quite brilliantly.

As G2 pointed out... The stupidity of Trump's tariff's is that they were unreliable. He changed them on a whim. If there is no method, there is no reliability. The tariffs themselves may or may not make sense. But to throw them up capriciously, as Trump did, inspires ZERO confidence, as G2 pointed out, for a business to make business decisions based on... capriciousness? The immediate after-effect of Trump's tariffs on China, as an example, did NOT "bring back American manufacturing jobs". In fact, the IMMEDIATE after-effect of Trump's China tariffs was that China shut the door on American soybeans and other products. American, midwestern, farmers were CRUSHED by the blowback to Trump's China tariffs. Do you remember this? It gets more complicated than that. China was losing manufacturing jobs PRIOR to Trump's tariffs. They were losing those jobs because Chinese wages had finally come up enough that they were no longer the most competitive (read: lowest wages) manufacturer in the world. They were losing these manufacturing jobs to Southeast Asia. Vietnam, Thailand, etc... If Trump wasn't such a ****ing MORON, he would have passed TPP instead of killing it. Which would have lowered American tariffs for these southeastern countries, enforced American intellectual property rights (Chinese knockoffs would be forced out of these countries, increasing American goods sold), enforced American environmental and labor standards (not exactly, more like "minimums", but still...), and SPED UP the flight of cheap manufacturing jobs out of China. A year later, Trump BEGGED to get back into TPP and was told "no dice". He ****ed that up, bigly. Why is Biden now NOT eliminating all of Trump's tariff's? Because now that they are in place, you don't remove them CAPRICIOUSLY, as Trump did throwing them up. You NEGOTIATE to get them back down. As any NORMAL politician would. And if China is not changing its predatory practices... then there's no reason to just give them back up. I have no problem with Biden NEGOTIATING with China to bring those tariff's back down, and if China refuses to change practices, then refuse to change tariff's. It's not that difficult to understand.

It's not just the straightline speed, it's the ability to "flip hips" or handle receivers' double-moves so to speak. If Holmes drafts him and declares him our "presumed #1 CB" I'm on board. The only thing I've got to go on is draft rags anyways so... I trust Holmes & DC to make the right decisions on guys as they've already shown time & again...

Couple rags I was reading stated DeJean would "probably shift to Safety in the NFL"... I don't know how accurate that is... But it probably wouldn't help our CB deficiency if that were to become abundantly clear/ true. I'd be fine with Quin Mitchell. And there does seem to be some depth at CB this year. May even be able to find another starter in the 3rd (eventually) round. I'll trust Holmes to find 1 or 2 of these guys.
