Taylor and Barkley mess up a wide open 2 pt conversion play that would have given the Giants a late lead over the Rams.

The Eagles are 34 seconds away from losing by 4 to Arizona at home. So #2 seed might still be in play ..barely.

I was driving around this morning and flipping around to various radio broadcasts of today's slate of 1pm game. During the Giants-Rams game, a player had to report and the announcer said he needs be to extra careful when doing so and maybe get it in writing from the ref, "after last night's debacle in Dallas".

There's a clip on X of the Cowboys radio broadcast and you can hear the P.A's announcement of 70 on that.

As annoyed as we all are, imagine if the Lions hadn't yet clinched the NFC North last night and this call went against them.

Skipper wasn't even one of the two people in the conversation the reporter is asking about.

No I disagree with that thinking. It’s like when a good goal would be waved off against the Wings in playoff overtime and people would say they had other chances to win. When you’re playing a high calibre opponent on the road, no one can be expected to win comfortably or with points and plays to spare. That’s why they call football a game of inches.

I don’t really disagree. I was still excited about going for it the 2nd and 3rd time, just not as going ho as I was the second time. Another point. 23 seconds to go with Dallas having its timeouts and an awesome kicker wouldn’t have been a total gimme. Kickoff, Dallas gets it with 23 seconds to go. Get to the Lions 45 and they probably win it. So 3 enough time for throws downfield, anywhere in the field, to pick up about 35 yards.

Remember also, for OT, Dallas has a much better kicker than the Lions. And if all the Lions had managed was a tie after 10 minutes, that would have knocked them out of the 2 seed anyways.

They lost by 1 point to a 10-5 team that we are told NEVER loses at home. With a defense that I thought would get lit up holding Dallas to 20 points. Hell, this may have been their 2nd most impressive game all year after the KC game. I feel better about this team’s chances than I did 4 hours ago. Dallas had just as many chances to have won more easily - the first interception, the touchback, passing instead of burning clock, letting the Lions offense go 75 yards in a minute.

My only problem with the 2 point decision was trying a 3rd time. Presumably you’ve already used up your two best play calls by then.
