  1. San Jose retaining $1.5mm. I think they’ll consider that a good outcome.
  2. Quite a bit to digest
  3. Full game broadcast from 1934, with Tyson on the mic. The Tigers were days away from clinching their first pennant in 25 years, so drew 29,000 on a Thursday. The amount of ads during the broadcast is insane.
  4. You miss 100% of the deals you don’t make.
  5. Yesterday was a loss for Harris but, like many have said, Twitter has overreacted. It's not "career-defining" or anything crazy like that. This offseason will be the real test and tell me a lot more about Harris and about Chris Illitch.
  6. Not trading E-Rod is great news. We’re clearly GOiNG FOR IT! Only 6.5 games back, if we go 14-2 in next games we will be at.500. Let’s goooooooooo!
  7. Taiwan is a country.
  8. I was at that game. Sitting past the first base line when Jackson got pulled, then was at the merry go round when circulated that we got Price. Electric atmosphere. Never expected the hopes would fizzle so meekly in the Baltimore series two months later.
  9. How's Manzardo's mental health?
  10. Yep. I looked up 10 years ago. Only 15 of 31 2nd rounders had an NHL career with the equivalent of one full season, 82 games, or more. Adam Erne is 4th among 2013 2nd rounders in goals and 5th in points. Tyler Bertuzzi 1st in points Compher 2nd in games, 3rd in points in that same draft year, only 13 of the 120 players drafted in rounds 4-7 scored 10 or more NHL career goals
  11. This is the time of year when Vancouver-area NHLers start to have pickup sessions at the rink complex my daughter where skates, prior to heading off to their training camps in a month. It has been awhile since I've seen Bedard though. Morgan Reilly and Alexander Kerfoot popped in a few times a couple of years ago, some other names too but my hazy summer brain is drawing a blank right now. Recognizable names but forgettable names, lol.
  12. Two-tiered, 24-team B1G with relegation and promotion. Top half of the conference plays each other (11 games and 1 non-conf), bottom half of the conference plays each other. Teams #11 and #12 go down, Teams #13 and #14 go up
  13. If he reads your post, he'll be licking his chops and counting down the time until he is eligible for free agency
  14. Even though it's against the Tigers, what a great day for a fan to attend if they wanted to witness Ohtani's greatness in all its glory.
  15. To any hockey fans, today is like the back to back big losses by the Wings versus the Sens a few days before the NHL trade deadline this season. If there was any doubt Yzerman would be a deadline seller, there wasn't after that.
  16. Watch Ohtani homer 3x in this one. 0-0 after 1.
  17. Dan’s call of that was a rollercoaster. As the listener, sounded dangerous off the bat, then his tone hinted that Moniak might have a beat on it, then safely gets down and over.
  18. 99% sure it was. Sure felt like it. Because the crowd started chanting "We Want The Bird" and everyone was undecided whether to head to exits or stick around, we weren't sure if anything was going to happen. Curtain calls weren't really a thing back then. I remember Reggie's after his 3rd home run the next year in the '77 Series, but can you think of any before then?
  19. I agree …. until Goff breaks his leg next week.
  20. I’ve told this story before, but the MNF Fidrych game was truly one of the most memorable days of my childhood. Last day of school, 3rd grade or Grade 3, had been the Friday before. I was turning 9 in two days so we held my birthday party in the lower deck in left with Family Night tickets. My parents, a couple of uncles, a few of my friends. I was a baseball nut/nerd then so knew all about Fidrych’s progression over the past two months and so was excited that he was the starter. But having been to weeknight games several times in the past, we were expecting a crowd of 20,000 or so. When we got there and saw our normal parking lots full and then the throngs walking over the pedestrian covered overpasses we were stunned. But boy did that ratchet up the excitement. For a few minutes we were worried that the game was sold out, as that was the rumour, but managed to buy tickets. I remember almost everything about that night. Especially the curtain call. Went to many other Fidrych starts in 1976 and 1977, I wish more radio or TV broadcasts of his starts were available.
  21. I need clarity on CJ's status before I lock in my Lions record prediction for the season. I've been flip flopping between 14-3 one day and 7-10 the next.
  22. For second game in a row the Twins tie it in the 9th and win it in extras. Although today they had first blown a 9th inning lead. Suddenly they are on pace for 87 wins.
