Thanks for the ride, Tigers ! That was a lot of fun. Can we do this most years? What a great season. No complaints from me. Cleveland is a better team. They are where we want to be in a year or two. I hope Cleveland beats the Yankees, but they will have the full weight of MLB against them. Don't have to go nuts and spend a fortune, but there are players they can get. Priorities 1 - Sign Skubal. Just do it. He's your Verlander. 2 - Don't let Fetter get away. Make him the highest-paid pitching coach in history if they have to) 3 - Acquire another bat (Third Base?) 4 - Acquire another starting pitcher (Skubal-Olson-Mize-maybe Jobe). 5 - Just cut Javy loose. It didn't work. 6 - Get a platoon partner for Sweeney 6 - Find a decent backup Catcher. Don't think Dingler is quite there yet. They are going to need at least one more starting pitcher because MLB will stop allowing teams to use openers. Maybe they'll let it slide once every five days and if you think teams will get out of it by saying "pitcher's arm is tired after 2 innings", then they'll pass a rule that the pitcher has to go on the injured list The starting pitching criteria will be 1 - Must pitch at least 4 innings or Must throw 80 pitches or Must face opposing lineup at lest twice.

I won't be disappointed in this team no matter what happens today. I'll be sad, of course, but how could any of us be disappointed in this? The winner of today's game is the team I will be pulling for to take it all. But I know the winner of today's game will not get any favors or calls from the umps in the next series. MLB wants LA vs. NY, they want Ohtani vs. Judge. They'll begrudgingly accept NY vs NY, but I don't think there is any way they're letting Cleveland or Detroit into the party.

But it works for about 46-47% of the people in this country -- in 2024. Pathetic.

Week Six: Detroit Lions (3-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-2)
Motor City Sonics replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I never bet more than $10 and I NEVER bet on The Lions and Michigan because I can't be analytic at all. But, I make an exception this week. I put $50 on the Lions. They are going to destroy Dallas on Sunday. This team has all of their parts and they are laser-focused on making sure that even WHEN (not if) the Refs pull some pro-Dallas bull****, the score will be so lopsided it won't make a difference. I have never been this certain about the Detroit Lions in my life. They.........want.......this..........bad We all do -
When Trump rips on cities............it's always cities with a large Black population. It's just his way of saying you'll be overrun by a bunch of "them" - meaning Blacks, which isn't the word he's thinking.

What's the point in having replay if these officials don't want to embarrass their friends down on the field. That player touched the ball with his hand.

Red Wings 2024 October Game Thread
Motor City Sonics replied to slothfacekilla's topic in Detroit Red Wings
What is it with Red Wings goalies the last few years. For a half a season they look incredible and then they look like they don't belong in the NHL after that. -
The Twins collapse was so bad that the owners are firing themselves.

Is that the last of the cloth-like domes?

I want polls saying its super close. I want them saying polls have Trump ahead (when it's not true). I don't think this would happen, but I don't want anyone on the blue side thinking this is in the bag at all.

Eagles have had a boatload of injuries, so it's hard to blame Nick, but coaches take the bullets.

Isn't the whole family a bunch of pervys?

Coaching Hot Seat Ranking I would have moved Saleh up to #2 or #3 - just based on the fact that Rodgers was about to put a knife in his back, but the knife was already out. They keep bringing up the 20-36 record. That first year was not on him. When a coach takes over a bad team, the first year isn't usually on them. Take away that first year and 16-23 still isn't great, but look who he had at QB - and that wasn't his fault. Jets defense is pretty good. Saleh will get another shot at HC somewhere, hopefully with a functioning franchise. Anyway. 1. Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland - It's not his fault, but coaches take the blame 2. Doug Pederson, Jacksonville - 1 Win is not enough to ice down that seat. 3. Dennis Allen, New Orleans - An uninspired choice to begin with. 4. Nick Siriani, Philadelphia - They have very big expectations in Philly and an impatient owner 5. Mike McCarthy, Dallas - Though not during the season. Lingering outside the hot seat room Sean McVay, LA Rams - Not that he'll get fired, but I could see him walking away. I could also see the Rams actually trading Stafford now, though not many teams really need a QB that can afford to give up anything Antonio Pierce, Raiders. The Raiders brand is Chaos. Jeff Ulbrich, NY Jets. Aaron has to have someone to blame when he sucks

Week Six: Detroit Lions (3-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-2)

They all want revenge. Refs won't matter this time Game won't be close enough Lions by at least 17 -
Even if we don't beat KANSAS CITY, they're going to change it. To satisfy gamblers, too. Gamblers HATE this stuff. They will force starters to have to meet either an innings floor, pitch count floor or a minimum of having to face a lineup twice. What is annoying about that is baseball wants the type of parity that the NFL has and will never get a salary cap and this method gives small market teams (who can't afford $30 - $40 million for a starting pitcher) a chance to be in the race. The Tigers don't want to start a season with 1 or 2 starters and then Blender Ball the other 3 games, they want 4 at least legit starters. Will baseball force this for every game or just 4 out of 5/

I am going to see the French electronic duo Air tomorrow at The Fox Theater. Hopefully we get a cell signal inside the building, but I am expecting that when that show lets out I am going to walk out to see a Detroit I've never seen, full of people having a great time - just buzzing. My whole life I saw other cities with people walking around and taking part in all kinds of things and I would dream about how cool it would be to see Detroit like this. This is different than the NFL Draft or Super Bowl or Final Four, those are great, but full of out-of-towners. But this is for US. Even if the Tigers don't win tomorrow there is going to be electricity in the air. One of my co-workers pointed me towards a parking app and I already reserved a space for tomorrow for $10. Will have to take the Q-Line to get to the heart of things, but I really didn't want to pay $50 for parking. Taking a rare day off work tomorrow so I wouldn't have to rush (I leave work in Ann Arbor at 6:15). It's gonna feel like a REAL city finally. Oh, and **** The Athletic.
