  1. Marvin Jones back with the Lions. 1yr 3mill guaranteed, can make an extra 2 million in incentives.
  2. Not a subscriber so I don't know the whole story or quote he said but atleast according to the headline here it sounds like we can shut the door on the Lamar talk.
  3. "Do you have any questions for us Jalen?" Jalen: "If I get drafted by you will I get a Ford GT?"
  4. I generally am of the BPA philosophy but I don't agree with it for QB when you already have a good one. Unlike other positions that BPA can still contribute to the team even if there are better options on the depth chart but QB can't unless there is an injury. To me the QB would have to be head and shoulders above everybody else on your board and a guy that you strongly feel you can't miss out on. If its close or if you think he's just the best out of a so so batch of players then I'm not taking him.
  5. Actually the more I think about it if Holmes truly did want a QB it probably would be in his best interest to act like he doesn't want one so a team doesn't jump him and take him. So the fact that he is being coy and hinting they may be looking at one at 6 tells me that they actually aren't. edit: Or I could be looking way too much into this and Holmes is just being honest and saying how he legit feels about what to do in the draft.
  6. I will say in Quinn's defense the fact that we still had Stafford and it was well known that Quinntricia were on the hot seat basically let teams know that they weren't going to take a QB. When you are basically in a win or get fired scenario like them two were and you have a more than capable QB you don't use a top 3 pick on a QB that may benefit the team 2 to 3 years down the road, you take a guy that can help you win games immediately. So even if Quinn did say they were in the market for a QB I think other teams would've called his bluff but I suppose you never really know and it probably wouldn't have hurt anything to try to bluff them.
  7. By keeping the QB door open it creates a chance that maybe a team behind you will trade up with Seattle and take a QB which would drop the player you really wanted to you.
  8. Cause it's no benefit to the Lions whatsoever to do so, whether it's QB or place kicker. Unless you have the 1st pick and you have no intentions of trading out and losing your guy you never want to reveal or even hint who you want to take cause a team behind you may be interested in that same player and can jump ahead of you to take them.
  9. Exactly! I will say though looking back if Quinn would've put the thought in people's heads that we were interested in a QB maybe a team would've traded up with Washington and we could've had Chase Young. It would've been a long shot though since I think Washington really coveted Young and wasn't going to trade back for cheap.
  10. If they do indeed draft a QB with the intention of him replacing Goff in a year or 2 hopefully Goff handles it like an adult like Alex Smith and Jimmy G did when their teams drafted QBs early and not throw a fit like Rodgers did when the Pack drafted Love. Of course Rodgers threw a fit but did put up back to back MVP seasons so I guess if Goff responds like that on the field for us I'll forgive how he acts off of it.
  11. Yeah also Dallas has one of if not the best defensive lines and schemes to create pressure in the NFL so he could've benefited from that.
  12. I would have to imagine the chances of converting 4th and 15 would be higher than 5% when you factor in the refs possibly calling a ticky tack 5 yard defensive holding penalty or something. But in regards to onside kicks, didn't they change the rules a few years back on how teams could line up for them? I seem to recall that and I also seem to recall it being easier to recover back in the day, like it seemed like it happened on a semi regular basis instead of it basically being a Hail Mary like it is today.
  13. Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Quinn Ewers are very likely to be ranked higher than any of the QB prospects this year come draft time in 2024.
  14. I want Johnston but if the Lions feel they can get a similar player later then who am I to question them? Can't remember his name off the top of my head but that WR from WVU that blew up the combine is somebody that fits the mold that comes to mind. Not sure where he is projected to go now but he's a guy to keep an eye on.
  15. Sean Payton just said that they aren't trading Jeudy or Sutton. Not sure if that means anything or not since teams have been known to go back on what they say but if you take it at face value it appears that Sutton is off the table.
  16. It could just be two separate trades. Before finalizing with us Tennessee could potentially call Arizona and see if they'd be down for 11 and 18 if they were able to acquire that pick. If AZ says says yes or says that they it would only take a little bit more then they could make the trade with us then work out the final details of the trade up with AZ.
  17. It's funny how you can get these type of outcomes in the College Basketball but something that would never happen in College Football. Yet when it comes to Professional football and basketball the roles are reversed where you have the "any given Sunday" thing of the NFL where 6 seeds have made the Super Bowl but rarely see a low seeded playoff team advance in the NBA playoffs.
  18. I'd do a 6 for 11 and Simmons trade or even 18 straight up for Simmons trade in a heartbeat.
  19. Florida Atlantic upsets KSU to make the Final Four. With SDSU playing Creighton in the other final of that side of the bracket that means that we are guaranteed to have either Florida Atlantic, San Diego State or Creighton in the Championship Final.
  20. Parker raises his slugging percentage to a Bondsian/Ruthian .816, yeah I think it's safe to say he's going to end up being a cross between both those guys.
  21. Wow I did not realize the percentage was that low, I was thinking that it was around 10-15%. I wonder how many of the successful onsides were the completely unexpected variety at various points in the game? If you take those out and only factor in the percentage of obvious onside tries that already low number would probably be even lower.
  22. I want to either trade up for Anderson or trade down. If we stay at 6 and both those options are gone then I'm really open to anybody including Carter. Yeah I share the concerns about his work ethic but I feel there are concerns about any other guy we would take as well whether it be on the field or value of position in the case of Skoronski and Bijan. In the stay at 6 and no Anderson scenario I'd probably go Johnston, Carter, Gonzalez, Wilson, Bijan. The reason I put Johnston 1 over somebody like Gonzalez is that I feel we can get a similar CB prospect at 18 where as I don't think Johnston will be there at 18 and I really like the thought of getting that potential big X receiver. Same reasons with Carter over him, I think Carter as an on field talent is in his own tier among DTs and we wouldn't get somebody of his caliber and fit at 18. There may be guys like Clancy but I think he's a little smaller so doesn't fit what we need as well as Carter.
  23. Admittedly I like Johnston more than most but I'm fine taking him at 6 and a corner at 18.
  24. The only reason they should draft a QB is if they truly don't think Goff is the answer and think the guy they drafted will be better. If thats the way they feel I'd rather them just try to get Lamar then, he's atleast proven and while expensive we have plenty of the room the next 2-3 years to support him so for the near future we should be fine. Come 2026 we can worry about and access things then. Again I don't want to do this but if they truly want to move on from Goff after this year I prefer this route vs. drafting one of these guys in this draft who have a ton of question marks save for maybe Stroud who won't be there for us anyway.
  25. Im starting to think they are going qb somewhere in the draft, either that or they are in on Lamar. It just doesn't seem like Holmes and Campbell to flat out say they are going to address something like they did with upgrading the qb position and not go through with it.
