The called 3rd strike to Schoop late in the game and called 1st strike to Bichette in the first inning were two of the lowest called strikes Ive seen in awhile. If the TV k zone is to be believed they basically looked like they were damn near a foot below the zone. -

Encouraging outing from Turnbull, got some whiffs and held a strong Blue Jays offense in check. -

Just imagine that happening late in a perfect game! -

Tailor made DP only for it to ricochet off an ump, only the Tigers. -

He did take him up the tunnel to talk to him, didn't do it right in the dugout for all to see. Perhaps Javy said or did something during their chat that led to the benching and not just the baserunning gaffe. -

Javy benched, good to see some repercussions for a mental error like that. -
There's a mock out on The Athletic where it has us trading down to 11 with Tennessee for a 3rd this year and next year. I don't know if that would be fair according to the draft charts but assuming we won't draft Carter I think I'd do that even if on paper the return seems a little light. I feel we're going to get the same caliber of player at 11 as we would as 6 so might as well pick up 2 extra 3rds as well.

The only advantage of Hooker in round 1 is the 5th year option but agree no way do I want the Lions taking him there or anywhere for that matter just cause I personally don't believe in him. But if I was a team that did they may be better off getting him in the 1st.

In Javy's defense I don't think he's been on 2nd base all season, probably doesn't know what to do there. -

Nevin draw a walk in his first AB but then Greene and Carpenter follow it by striking out on 6 pitches. -

No lie, when I was like 5 years old we had a couple Jays in my back yard and my Grandpa warned me about them as he was attacked as a kid. That stuck with me my whole life and was always trepid around them. Of course I rarely see them anymore but they were everywhere in my childhood home. -

My biggest qualms isn't so much what Harris did or didn't do it just goes back to how crappy our system is. I mean we should have atleast a couple arms somewhere in the system that can be major league caliber relievers with major league caliber stuff. You shouldn't have to rely on guys like Jose Cisnero and Trey Wingenter. -
I know the Rays schedule has been easy but still not only starting 13-0 but winning by the margins they have is absolutely remarkable, they are outscoring teams by almost 6 runs a game! That may literally be unheard of in MLB history for a 13-0 stretch.

A couple sources confirmed it but still don't know if it was 100% true but just imagine how different things would've been if OKC and Detroit did go through with that 6 and SGA for #1 overall trade prior to the 2021 draft? I was against that trade at the time cause I was of the belief that SGA while being talented was putting up empty stats on a bad team and I questioned whether he would be the type of player that would excel on good teams or make the guys around him better. Also of course thought so highly of Cade and thought he had the potential to be the type of superstar that we weren't going to have the chance to acquire any time soon. From our perspective I question if SGA would've continued to develop here like he has and I definitely question whether Weaver would've taken Giddey at 6, to me I think Kuminga probably would've been the guy so for our sake I'm not sure how much better we would look as a franchise but OKC would look drastically different.

Feldman brings up some good points about the usual loaded SEC juggernauts and OSU having to replace some key players but those teams always reload, they're chalked full of 5 star recruits just ready to step in and play so the team doesn't miss a beat. They probably would've gotten steamrolled by UGA anyway but last year was probably their best chance to win a CFP game, not that TCU was a bad team but by CFP standards you are unlikely to get an easier matchup. It's too bad UM came out of the gates slow and JJ's mistakes were of the catastrophic variety.

One of the biggest problem with the Tigers lineup aside from the fact that they suck is that there really isn't any strong points to it or any sorta identity. Like it's not like they have a bunch of thumpers with low OBPs so you can play for the multi run HR, or a bunch of OBP guys where you can just work starting pitchers and try to keep the line moving or even speed guys where you can take the extra base, steal bases and just wreak havoc on them. Nope they have a bunch of players that don't really have any standout skills. -
Yeah the age thing isn't that big of a deterrent for me, I of course would rather him be 22 but IF they feel he can be a quality QB in this league then his age shouldn't stop you from drafting him for the reasons Rampage suggests.

Alex Avila and James McCann as well. The latter came with the White Sox of course.

I'm just meh on Wilson, I can see the physical gifts which makes you dream of the type of ceiling he can have but how often do those guys really end up hitting the ceiling that you dream of that didn't produce great numbers(relatively speaking) in college? Genuine question, perhaps it happens more often than Im thinking of but it feels like the guys you draft based off their physical traits instead of production generally don't work out like you hoped.

Nope it won't matter, if/ when we ever become good people will come out in droves to watch and celebrate the team just like they did in for the Tigers in 06, did for the Wings in the 90s and do for the Lions whenever they have one of their rare good season. -

I mean this isn't something that we already didn't know but sometimes I forget just how bad it's been with us and big contracts. Victor's 2nd contract Miggys 2nd Zimmermann Upton(dodged a bullet by trading him) Fielder(even bigger bullet dodged) Baez E-Rod(he has atleast shown signs of life this year) I mean between them we have spent well over a half billion dollars and I imagine they combined for under 10 WAR and maybe even worse. Its just unfathomable the roi we've gotten on multi year FA deals in the past decade or so, it just doesn't seem possible to spend that much and get so little. -
If we don't get a top 2 pick(assuming we have Wemby and Scoot in their own tier) OKC may be a good team to target in regards to a trade down. I mean you would think they'd want to consolidate some of their picks and from what I am reading there isnt a ton of drop off from say 5 to 15 so we could still get a similarly talented player along with getting another swing or 2 at 1st round picks. The downside is I don't know if I trust Weaver to identify that mid to late 1st round talent.
-
Atleast with the Bulls win I don't have to worry about them defying the odds again and ending up with Wembenyana.
-
Anothet Okudah trade comp, last September the Jags traded CJ Henderson who was the next db drafted after Okudah at 8 overall along with a 5th round pick to the Colts for a 3rd round pick. So we may have been able to extract a little more value out of him if we traded him at the deadline but based off this comp it prob wouldn't have been much more.

I wonder how much if any the new shift rules are effecting Tigers pitching? Cause even when things were going good pitching wise the peripherals still weren't very good for most of the guys suggesting that they were getting lucky or at the very least playong in front of a defense that was positioned perfectly.
