I love the fact that Sheila has been engaged in the operations but at the same time doesn't throw her weight around but instead allows the professionals that she hired to do their job. Case and point the video during the draft asking about the WR,she knew we needed one but after Holmes explained to her the situation she sat back and let him do his thing. Same thing during the video in the 1st round where they were debating trades, she sat like a fly on the wall and didnt try to tell them what to do but instead trusted their judgement.

I have faith in Sheila, perhaps its blind faith but some of the things she said and has done makes me think she is competent and actually cares about winning. That doesn't guarantee anything cause even smart owners/management can lose but at the very least I think she is going to do everything she can to win and isn't just going to settle for mediocrity year after year.

Almost 24hrs since the booster and I have to say this is definitely the worst of the 3. Nothing crazy as of yet but my arm is definitely more sore than the previous 2 and it started earlier than those. One of my coworkers said he felt under the weather for a few days after so I suppose as of now Ive gotten off kinda easy. *knock on wood*

Michigan just got 4 star WR Darrius Clemons who was previously committed to Auburn. They've had a great day thus far, up to top 7ish nationally depending on the site, a couple weeks ago they were in the mid to late teens.

If the contract was settled and everything were to start on time we'd be passing the halfway point between the last Tigers game and their first Spring Training game. It would be all downhill from here, sadly though that isn't the case since things likely aren't going to start on time.

Id rather they wait and make sure they get the right one, nothing kills a franchise more than drafting the wrong qb early, reason being is 9 times out of 10 that franchise will still try to make it work with said wrong qb the next 4 years and miss out on superior options while putting up with bad play the whole time. We're very likely going to be picking in the top 5 next year, top 10 at worst and we will have ammunition to trade up if need be. Id much prefer doing that and getting the likely superior qb vs. drafting one this year cause we feel we have to.

haha classic! I think we all feel this way KD! -
This is where Im at but depending on how the draft shakes out I wouldn't be opposed to doubling up on receiver with the Rams and our 2nd round pick. Reason being is that atleast as of now the evaluators that I follow have anywhere from 7 to 10 WR with 1st round grades followed by a drop off after that. If we could get 2 1st round talent WRs that could totally revamp our offense, couple with St. Brown progressing like I expect and suddenly we could potentially throw out a bunch of weapons. Then you add in our offensive line and whomever we draft at QB in 2023 should theoretically atleast be able to step in and produce from day 1 which to me is my ultimate goal. Of course come draft day there is a high end talent at another position that drops to the 2nd round and the 1st round level receivers are all gone then most certainly go that direction instead, really though it will be hard to screw up this draft.

Got my booster today, had to get moderna though instead of pfizer like I got for my first 2 shots. Other than a sore arm for one night on my first shot I had no side effects at all with the pfizer so Im hoping it goes the same for the moderna booster.

McShay has us taking Howell with the Rams pick. Im on record of saying I don't want to take a qb this draft but with that said I do think Howell has the potential to be a steal and could end up being a franchise guy. Ive watched a couple of their games this year and he showed me that he could make all the throws, had great mobility but his decision making left alot to be desired. The thing is though that he has ZERO help this year and has been running for his life most of the time. In situations like that sometimes you feel like you need to force things. I can't say for sure if that has been his problem or not but if you are of the belief that the lack of talent around him has been his problem he could end up being a steal. Personally though I'm not sure I want to make that gamble.

Nothing the Lions have done in the past matters when it comes to the future, this is a completely different organization top to bottom. Does that mean they are going to be good? Who knows but there is no point in bringing up what their history is when the people in charge have had nothing to do with said history.

Yeah me too, I can definitely see the toaster in it but I like unique looking buildings like that.

Hopefully the language that had to be worked out and finalized was something to the effect of once he proves he is healthy and pitching well the Astros have to return him home to the Tigers for pennies on the dollar.

I've never seen a bear bounce around like that and of course the dog paying no attention to it makes it even funnier.

Dan Campbell and Coaching Staff Discussion Thread
RandyMarsh replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
I look at it as being no different than any other profession and in other professions there's always that one boss who manages to get employees to go the extra mile or be more productive even if the employee may not stand for any financial gain by doing so. -
Dan Campbell and Coaching Staff Discussion Thread

Yeah when people say things like "they love playing for the guy" it doesn't necessarily mean that they love his personality or that he is a nice guy ie the Belechick example but it means that they are willing to go above and beyond for the coach. Sometimes it is because they love the guy and he is a "player's coach" other times its out of respect, admiration and belief in the coach that they succeed if they go the extra mile like with Belicheck. Either way a coach that can get players to go all out no matter the situation for him is an incredibly valuable trait. -
I don't remember the Thames HR but I remember the other 3 vividly. I didn't witness the Pudge HR but I was down at the Detroit Racquet Club for a fundraiser for my Uncle, we were outside in a tent and you could hear the roar from the stadium. Went inside to check a TV and sure enough it was from Pudge's walkoff HR.

I was too young to experience the great Tigers teams of the 80s or atleast appreciate them anyways so up until 2006 really all I knew of Tigers baseball were terrible teams that's why that one was so special to me. I really didn't keep up with prospects at that time so I didn't know anything about guys like Verlander and Zumaya until reading a report from Peter Gammons. He was still working for ESPN at the time and he would do a write up of each team throughout Spring Training and I remember him saying something like "Out of all the pitchers I've seen thus far no pair of arms looked as impressive as Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya", he then threw out a comp of Nolan Ryan for Verlander. So the home opener my buddy and I are waiting in line to use the bathroom and I said how Gammons compared Verlander to Nolan Ryan, a few people overheard me and said that is stupid and he probably won't amount to anything. Weird how you can remember such a random inconsequential thing but that little conversation is something I'll never forget.

I can't speak for all fans but for me personally it's not all about banners and Tshirts, it's the experiences you get along the way. Those several years the Tigers were good they didn't win the whole thing but I got so much enjoyment out of going to playoff games, watching big games with friends or just the nerves/butterfiles I got watching important games at home by myself. Same for any other sports team I root for including Michigan. Those experiences and memories are things that I won't ever forget and mean alot to me even if I never got to experience them win the whole thing.

Kiper moved Aidan to one as well with Ojabo up to 9th. BTW according to ESPNs FPI metric the Lions are now at only a 50/50 chance to pick 1st.

Isaac Paredes not the best shape of his life.

Lol I remember us all talking about this ab in the game thread. Nice to see that we weren't just being hyperbolic or reactionary due to it being a game thread.

That's why I said the jury was still out on him. I think the feeling was after all his wheeling and dealing last draft that we were in good hands and if we're patient he will rebuild this thing. While that may still hold true I don't think its something we should just assume, of course if the lottery Gods are good to us again and we end up with Banchero to pair with Cade it would be hard to screw up that rebuild even if Weaver is indeed terrible.
