Yeah I really think they aren't going to go in that direction and given their success and the league's success in general at finding wr from the mid to late 2nd on I can't say I blame them. Outside of RB I think WR may be the position filled with the most great players that weren't early picks. If you look at the yardage leaders outside of Chase and Jefferson I think all of the top 15 were picked outside the 1st round.

Yeah Jones was in the top 5 I believe and was the only one to make the list. Number 1 was the center from KC and I think 2 was Slater who many scoffed at when it suggested we draft him if Sewell was taken.

Dan Campbell and Coaching Staff Discussion Thread
RandyMarsh replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
It is the most optimistic I've been as a Lions fan in my life. Yes they are still void of talent but in the NFL you need 3 things to be a successful franchise and that's a good GM/front office, Good coaching staff and a good qb. It seems we finally have two of those things and with our future draft capital should be in a good enough position to atleast try to get that third piece when the time comes. Whether that potential guy pans out or not is going to ultimately determine our long term success. -
I firmly believe barring injuries that Hutch is going to atleast be a solid to good player in the NFL but I'm not convinced he is going to be a TJ Watt, Myles Garrett, prime Mack etc. type force as a pass rusher and for that reason I would love to trade down if possible. Now if the Lions feel he or Thibs has a strong chance of being one of those guys then they should stay put unless they get a Godfather type offer. You don't pass on potential game changing players like that just for an extra pick or two, even if those picks are early. They felt that way about Sewell and stood pat so I imagine if they feel that way about one of the guys in this draft they will do the same.

Eric Weddle comes out of retirement to join the Rams "super team" in the playoffs. I know some are still pulling for Stafford but honestly I'm going to be rooting 100% for the Cardinals on Monday. Not only for the hopes of getting a little better draft pick but I just hate McVay and his smartest guy in the room vibe and the Rams in general. That offsets any love I may have for Staff.

Pff put out their top 15 highest graded rookies and St. Brown was 6th overall and Sewell 11th. On a down note I'm still kinda upset that we passed on JOK in the 2nd who was 15th overall on that list. Ill give Holmes a pass on that though cause apparently he had some medical issues that scared teams off but boy if we would've taken him instead of Levi this draft would have been an even bigger home run.

Bol Bol will save us! Him and Chet are going to be the new twin towers for us next year even if neither is capable of bench pressing the bar in the weight room. -
Jameson Williams does indeed have a torn ACL, Doctors of course say they are expecting a full recovery. With that said do you take a chance on him with the Rams pick or our 2nd if he does drop cause of the injury? Most considered him the best WR in the class and a potential number 1. With the ACL tear this late in things he probably wouldn't be much use to us this coming year and even though ACL recoveries have come a long way any injury like that could potentially have long term ramifications. Personally I think I would have to see how things go in the combine with other top WRs and who would be available at those picks. If there are several guys that end up grading out close to Williams and are available at those picks I would of course take them since they are healthy but if none of the guys wow at the combine or other pre draft process and are still seen as a tier below where Williams was pre injury I think I just may shoot for moon and take a chance on him instead despite the injury.

Is there any young players that have been disappointing that may be a better fit here that a team would be willing to exchange Killian for? Perhaps a change of scenery could be beneficial to Killian and this hypothetical player and his team. -

If Bol Bol is available and plays significant minutes I like our chances. -

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
RandyMarsh replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
Gambling hasn't bothered me yet in baseball but in other sports it has started to effect my viewing experience. For example during yesterday's college football game the score was really low as late as the 3rd quarter and one of the announcers said something like "Im sure all the folks that bet the under are happy with this score." That's just one example but you hear little comments like that all the time and it takes me out of the game a bit when I watch it.- 1,851 replies

Batter step outs are definitely the biggest thing or atleast what I notice most. The past 10 years or so I would occasionally watch games on the internet from the 70s or early 80s which is a little before my time and the lack of step outs was the first thing I noticed. Ive basically had to deal with it to some extent my whole viewing life so it's something I never paid attention to until after watching old games and seeing how quick things would go between pitches.- 1,851 replies

Im at a solid B or perhaps a B+. I give them an A post bye week but they had a couple hiccups the first half of the season that drags the overall grade down slightly. I think Campbell proved with his playcalling and analytic driven 4th down calls that he is more than just a meathead that can motivate. -
That's not impossible but if it happens it could pose a scenario where not having the 1st pick could come back to haunt us. If there is just one defacto QB that a team(s) falls in love with to the point they would give up future assets for they probably want to be sure they get him and the only way that happens is at number 1.
-
My first choice would be to trade out of that number 2 spot and pick up more assets cause for starters this team has multiple holes so the more good picks the better but also I'm just not completely sold on either Hutch or KT. I still think they are the best two players in the draft but Im not sure they are going to be true difference makers in the NFL so the thought of possibly getting multiple solid to good players is more intriguing to me. If I had more faith that they are going to be a Myles Garrett than I would take that over multiple solid to good players but I don't. Of course without a franchise QB at 2 teams are highly unlikely to trade so the whole point is moot.

Well arguably the best wr available Jameson Williams just left the championship game with a knee injury, speculation its his ACL.

Its nice to see him getting some recognition and interviews but selfishly I hope he doesnt get a job and stays here cause I think he has done a great job and would be a major asset going forward.

Baseball not promoting its stars is one of their biggest problems, I will say they seemed to try to do that with Ohtani this year so perhaps they are learning. I just remember a couple years ago ESPN ran a fame 100 countdown where they ranked the 100 most famous athletes in the world based on things like social media followers, google searches, endorsement money etc. and iirc not a single baseball player made the list.- 1,851 replies

Did not know that, that makes more sense than him just being loyal to them.
-
Don't know how true it was but I found it amusing that the Dolphins owner essentially said he wouldn't go after Harbaugh cause as a UM alum he doesn't want to disrupt their program. If he means that then that is serious dedication to your school that you would risk not taking what's best for the team you own cause you don't want to mess with your school.
-
There are very few things in the world more frustrating than that. If there is a hell I imagine it's an endless loop of that situation.
-
One more thing, there seems to be alot of hate and doubt on Love and I'm not disagreeing but keep in mind he was rated equal or higher than most of the qbs that we would be likely to get with the Rams pick so he is exhibit A of what can happen when you settle for a QB in round 1 just cause that guy happens to be the best available.
