I remember thinking the same thing, back in the brief Spring Training, when they rolled out a series of photos of the players. Who? Read a little about him and thought, he’s not worth keeping an eye on. Good for him, though.

I have seen a number of comments, here and elsewhere, that start out with “I didn’t watch the speech, but…” and then proceed to bring up all sorts of outrage and some dire warnings. Maybe those folks could spend a few minutes to find out what was said before jumping to some pretty radical conclusions. Maybe the outrage is the goal. Maybe the speech never included them in any condemnations.

Not speaking of you, Ed, but if the hood fits…

I don’t think anyone called him untouchable. There was mention of how good he was pitching and that the team had control over him for years, with a preference to trade off the older guys unless you got a really strong offer. And there was acknowledgment that bullpens are fickle, so it’s hard to assume current success will apply later. -
I see it’s from the Toledo CL, not AA. Road trip! https://toledo.craigslist.org/msg/d/toledo-1984-greco-js55/7512256422.html You already have the BB ones covered, though.

There’s a Greco custom on the AA Craigslist right now.

Biff, so you use Buyee? I have heard of problems with them and have a Zenmarket account, and check FromJapan too. That one isn’t my cup of tea for several reasons, have been jonesing for a decent Edwards with flametop.

Wasn’t it also a difference in pitch types- the more breaking balls vs fastballs, when looked at as a whole?

Yes, the President’s Own, they just came back from a tour to Prague, Innsbruck and Holland. It is a good gig. And yes too, lots of practice for any musician/band to excel.

My eldest is a clarinet player too. Was thinking CM or Romad may have seen him in DC with the Marine Band.

The irony of all these MAGA whackjobs going nuts about the FBI is that the FBI announcement of the investigation about Hillary’s emails in Oct. 2016 likely tilted the election to their orange idol.

In the recent discussion about Miggy- his slowness specifically, IL and retirement more broadly, I was tempted to make an all caps text wall post. It would have offered the single kernal of contradiction HE JUST STOLE THIRD!!! amidst a stream of incoherent ranting. Good times.

Born in 1956, never lived in Michigan. As a kid in upstate NY we would visit aunts and uncles by driving across Canada every year. My favorite relatives lived in Dearborn and they made me a Tigers fan (no Yankee love - who needs an overdog). Fast forward to 68 and I am in junior high in central Illinois - pretty solid Cardinal country. One of my teachers had the radio on during class for a game, I don’t recall there being another Tigers fan in the group. That was a sweet victory in so many ways and cemented my fandom. Lots of lean years followed but 84 was magical. And the final week of the 87 season- by then I was in the PNW and it was hard to keep up with games. I would buy The Sporting News and get excited about players (Marshall had great SO numbers!) that seldom made it in the bigs. I still have Bill James abstracts and books from back then. Watched Cecil drive a massive HR against the W Sux with my Dad when we drove up for a game during a visit to Illinois. 2006 was redemption for all the bad years, although, like others I was in to the firepower from the nineties teams. Loved Tony P and others. And the run after 2006 was a lot of fun for the most part. As a final Tigers note, my first born is named Lew (never liked the Lou spelling), partially for Lou. Took him to see the Tigers beat the Yankees when he was getting started at UM. Lots of great memories, although I am getting fuzzier on many of them. And having this forum (old one included) has been wonderful. When I joined in 2002 or 2003 I had no idea it would be such a regular part of my life. The people on it and the hugely beneficial connection and information for a fan so Far away. Thank you all. Well, almost all. 😎

Yep, plus there are more trials after this one. He seems to have weak lawyers on his side right now, will even those guys bail? How’s he gonna pay them? The wheels grind slow, but he’s going to suffer. I remember Ballmich on the old site being a Info Wars guy. 🤮

Right. His ceiling was sometimes said as Greg Maddox, because of his control. Hasn’t turned out that way so far, but the splitter was not all he had going for him.

Hoping Turnbull and Erod add to the 2023 staff, plus some of the others currently injured ones are not lost long term.
