And over and over again when in a court of law, the “allegations” of fraud turned out to be baseless. Over and over again the loud talk outside the courtroom got weaker and quieter inside, with timid admissions that no, they had nothing in terms of evidence of fraud. If it had ended there, it would have been bad enough, but instead the majority of the Republicans still continue to lie about voting fraud. None of them have shred of honor. They are thoroughly dishonest people and should be scorned and shown the door at the next election. That shows they do not believe in the rule of law. Instead people like Archie parrot the lies and will keep them in office. No shame. None.

Won’t they have rising arb costs too, soon if not already?

After the way Cleveland has had our number for years, hoping to have this serve as a token for their broken season after we turn the tables.

And the official proceeding was the certification of our elections. Disrupting that is committing violence to our country and constitutional form of government. A mob, even if not all members are actively breaking things, still conveys the menace and threat. Many were violent, and he went along with them.

Eric, you stated something that is morally bankrupt, why not quit trying to defend it?

They made a comeback out here about 15 years ago. Not the fake stuff from the old days, but a mix of show, athleticism, and millennial irony. I think they still are around, with small regional league.

After the letdown against the Twins in the 87 playoffs, I was excited about the Tigers in 88. They were good, even very good…just the BosSox were a little better 😡

Spencer Torkelson has more to do with whether they would pursue Freeman than Miggy does. But you knew that, right?

I had been on cross country flights the week before, and don’t know if that was the infection point, but it did make me more alert to possibilities. I had a scratchy throat and aches/tiredness, congestion. Nothing bad or that unusual for me this time of year. My adult daughter has long covid (it truly sucks), I think that plays into my caution. Plus I’m old. Took a home test and should get the PCR results to verify soon. My girlfriend was also on those flights and we were not isolated from each other before my episode. So far she has tested negative.

I have a breakthrough infection and it has been pretty mild (barring any unlikely sudden changes). I think the delta variant is just so contagious that there will be no true herd immunity. That could have happened with the less virulent strains…not where we are now.

I am in favor of keeping Allen out of the HofGP, the Hall of Great Personalities. And in the HofF.

My comment was that I don’t believe Avila will stop after getting a SS and Starter. I guess that could happen if they have a set budget and getting those two bumps up against the limit. My assumption is that the FO is working on multiple possible signings or trades at any one time throughout the offseason and would pick up inexpensive players if the deal looked good regardless of position.

I am on board with the Story idea, including not going too many years. I do expect them to sign some bull pen help, even if it’s only bottom feeding. #nobarns

I would prefer that the arm barn thing is quickly put out to pasture.
-
I think the athletes view the contracts they sign as another competition. They want to win that challenge, as well as it being a reward/affirmation thing. Once signed I think they generally just focus on their normal playing and game competitiveness. Some might slack a bit, I doubt it’s the norm.

Your son could follow my son’s: undergrad at Michigan, masters at NW.

The last sentence is not a fact. It is your opinion of what he thinks.

Aside from trades and Tork/Riley, the majority of the 2022 wins improvement we are speculating on would be from FAs. Which without overpayment in dollars or years (and maybe even with those) is never as simple as shopping at the grocery store. What the team tries to do to become more competitive and what they are able to do are two different things. And we will likely not know of some offers or plans that slipped away. short version: you can’t always get what you want i want them to spend. I want excellent players to be acquired. I do not expect them to succeed in signing that level in every perceived area of weakness. And yes, a deadline acquisition could work if we don’t give up too much.

I think he was a crummy hitter when he had a long term wrist injury. Since he has left that behind he hasn’t been crummy.
-
Fair enough, what about 5/125? Is that long term enough? I don’t think Story has the value to expect much more than that, but admit I am not very knowledgeable. A shorter period with opts outs would be good for the Tigers, including the slim chance that Kreidler is the real deal. My point is more that having alternatives ( Plans B, C, etc.) is smart. Others have pointed to trade options, specifically for players shunted aside by a newly acquired SS, or with a team that has real depth at the position. I am assuming that could function as a Plan B or C, after testing the waters for Correa and others.

Leaving Correa aside for the moment for various reasons, what is “or bust”? Looking at the defensive ratings, ages and guessing as to dollars/length of contract, would Story having an off year compared to past performance be a case buying lower (not low). I am aware of Coors effect concerns. He’s young enough that I think he is less likely to decline soon. What are the numbers to get him likely to be? Most of the other top names seem flawed for various reasons. Story might not produce great O numbers at Comerica, but good ones coupled with good D sounds okay. And if he signs for a lot less than Correa, put that $ on a good SP. SS has been such a hole. So, 4/90 for Story? Would that be both a reasonable guess and a good value, or is it way off? I could see the Tigers making serious overtures to Correa, but not sticking around if the numbers get too high/long. And being ready with a plan B.
