  1. No. However, it doesn’t mean we are stuck with him for 5 years. I think we can get him to opt out. Javy lives in Javyland. In his head, he’s a superstar that all teams would want. His current struggles are due to bad teams, bad managers, and other non Javy things. If we can make him hate it so much this guy will foolishly bet on himself instead of the sure thing. It would be financial idiocy but the guy has a giant ego and isn’t very bright. These are proven to be two of the biggest factors in poor decision making. I can also see relentless heckling from the fans impacting him. We saw how his narcissistic brain handled Chicago fans getting on him last year at Comiskey. We just need to stay the course with him for a little bit and make his time as difficult as possible. Make him sit the bench, make him move away from SS, and do whatever possible to make things hard. His ego won’t allow him to suck it up and make the right business decision. It can happen.
  2. **** Javy. Quickly on his way to becoming the least liked athlete in town. Entitled piece of **** that puts in zero effort. I hope he gets booed relentlessly by the home crowd for the rest of his days as a Tiger.
  3. What a perfect Baez inning. HR prances out of the box on a ball that stays in the park and then forgets how many outs and ends a scoring chance. I’m glad MCS isn’t watching
  4. Tork is going yard against Bassit. He’s not going to chase 3 bad sinkers out of the zone
  5. Maton didn’t look like a major leaguer last week and he sure as hell does this week. Vierling has looked pretty good so far but I suspect he’s going to start seeing a lot less fastballs especially on the first pitch. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts.
  6. I don’t see any way this team loses a game. Completely loaded roster and very manageable schedule. That running back room. Wow.
  7. Have them killed
  8. I’d rather talk about the Blue Jay instead this coming L. While it is a strikingly beautiful bird, most people don’t realize they are actually one of the nastiest, unfriendly species in the bird family. They don’t play well with others and are aggressive to the point of attacking other birds even going so far as to bite their heads off. Despite their regal appearance, Blue Jays really are the giant assholes of the bird family. This meaningless bit of information will probably be more memorable than anything you see during tonight’s game.
  9. That’s easy. Craig Monroe because it’s the only way to get him off the broadcasts.
  10. The once great Dan Snyder humiliated and forced to sell his team in shame and all has to show for it is $6 Billion and record for largest US franchise sale. Not bad for a team he bought with $800m of borrowed money. Pro sports leagues really knows how to dish out a tough punishment. Sterling, Sarver, McCourt, and now Snyder.
  11. That was the perfect scenario to bring in your closer. Oh yeah, we don’t have a closer. We have a rotation of whatever guy is pitching the best at the moment and then AJ brings him in at what he feels is the most high leverage situation in the game and not necessarily for the last 3 outs. A completely odd idea that is loved by exactly 2 people. AJ Hinch and Happy Happy Craig Monroe.
  12. The Lions got a steal if he plays like he did to finish last season. A 5th round pick is a lot more valuable than that version of Jeff Okudah.
  13. There has got to be a way to work out a trade with the Marlins and let Miggy have a half season goodbye tour with his original team. I’ve got to think this would be amenable by all sides at some point this season.
  14. The Tigers are currently on pace to finish 36-126. This would put them 126 games behind Tampa, who is on pace to go 162-0.
  15. One of the guys should stash some weed in Wingenters bag before going through customs.
  16. I would agree. We all can see the risks of such a move as we are sitting here with the Rams pick at #6
  17. Anyone that truly believes in this team should have no problem throwing in next years #1 to help move up this year.
  18. Valenti brought up a great point yesterday. Look at the state of the NFC right now. It’s Philly and SF as the consensus 1-2. Who’s next? It’s probably the Lions. Maybe Dallas could be argued but even so that puts the Lions at no worse than 4th choice entering the season to make the Super Bowl. They have a tremendous opportunity in front of them this season and need to use both of these picks on players that can make some type of impact right now. They can’t afford to take any QB at 6 or 18 that would be for down the road They need the help now to maximize this opportunity.
  19. Hooker makes no sense to me if he’s unable to do anything until well after season starts. It’s a big waste of a crucial development year. It would seem like a better idea to punt and draft a project QB next year when the draft is so much stronger at the position.
  20. Harris was very clear with his philosophy to build a winning roster. 1) Acquire and retain young players 2) Create a culture of development 3) The key to everything are batters and pitchers that dominate the strike zone. When it comes to the 3rd and most important part, it’s been apparent in the past and is glaringly so at the moment that the cupboard is nearly bare with this type of player. They may need to overhaul 75% of the 40 man to acquire the talent that fits this model. We are talking multiple drafts along with many fliers on lower level major and minor league free agents and trades to restock the entire organization. This could take a while to get right again. I do like that Harris has a philosophy that he wants to build on that makes sense in modern baseball. It’s ugly now and things may get even worse before they get better but I like the person they have steering the ship.
  21. Not sure why everyone is freaking out right now. Baseball savant Craig Monroe watches BP everyday and is still confident this club can win 90 games.
  22. MCS, Go to the liquor store and buy a lottery ticket.
  23. Longstaff and Keefe and white dudes from New England. If neither even get an interview then maybe JE3’s scoop is real.
  24. This is just fucking stupid.
