Weird situation tomorrow for USC. Win and they are in the playoff with a chance to make the natty. Lose and they drop all the way down to the Alamo bowl most likely against Texas. Talk about a shitty consolation prize.
-
If Jax finishes with the worst record then it means Lawrence is either a bust or had a major injury. Either way in that scenario they would move on from him and draft Caleb.
-
Jaymo was a top 10 pick before the injury. I’m not sure that Corum was ever a 1st round back. NIL should keep many college stars that are not 1st or early 2nd round players in school. They can make more in college now than as an NFL rookie.
-
He’d be a fool not to now that NIL is in play. I can absolutely see him making over $1M next year to play at UM. Thats more than he’d make next year as a 2nd or 3rd round pick. The team should be favored to go to their 3rd straight playoff and he’ll have a great shot at the Heisman as well.
-
I really think someone is going to tank hard next year to draft Caleb and there won’t be any bidding war. Houston should really trade the #1 this year for as many 2024 picks and look to go 1-16.
-
This sounds like Michispin and not the actual story. We shall see but either way this story is going away and nothing will happen. As an aside, good on the UM program for having local law enforcement under their control to protect top players. Definitely taking a page from the Ohio State book.
-
His punishment should be having to walk alone down the tunnel at next years OSU game holding the same flag they planted at the center of the Horseshoe.
-
I got $10 that he was driving Warde’s wife’s car when it happened.
-
I sense a motownforums.com cover up for this story being posted in the NCAA and not in the Michigan football thread. Tremendously convenient to try and hide it here and away from all of the tunnel debate. A very Washtenaw County prosecutors office move. I see what’s going on here. 🤐😶😜

Rumors doesn’t get enough credit on the all-time lists. It’s a Fleetwood Mac greatest hits album on its own.

Next year will be the last of the 4 team playoff era.

Turns out that was in Australian dollars. He’s only making $207M per year. -
Caleb appears to be the prototypical modern QB prospect. The similarities to Mahomes are enough that the trade cost will be obscenely high. Sean Payton even suggested that he’s so good valued there may be wide spread tanking that happens next year which leads to a future NFL draft lottery. The challenge with stocking up a ridiculous amount picks for 2024 and beyond to try to build a package to trade for Caleb is if a team that needs QB gets the #1 pick in 2024, they are taking Caleb Williams. There is no trade package you can offer.
-
Agree. USF is the place that I can see him killing in recruiting. Miami and FSU are still in the process of rebuilding, he’d own Florida recruiting. Wherever he goes, he’s bringing his son along as QB and he’s a legit player.

Sure, in theory they could do whatever they want in a subjective system. What they really want is to rank the best 4 teams in the playoff based on merit. Any other suggestion on the committee motivation is cf fan tin foil hat stuff. Remember, these aren’t TV execs or corporate heads on the committee. These are AD’s of the schools that all hope to be vying for these spots. They don’t want to create a rigged system that could potentially come back to bite their own school later.
-
This isn’t what happened last year. Bama crushed the strong #1 Georgia and put up 41 on their vaunted defense. The committee then saw Bama as the legit #1 team. That was their reason. They don’t care about rematches. They got the Bama/Georgia rematch the very next week anyway. CF fans will always have their conspiracy theories but that was a football decision.
-
I don’t think they would do that. The purpose of the committee is to rank the teams based on their merit. They won’t go against that just for potential tv ratings.

The VAR on the Weah no goal. So close. Full head, leg, and shoulder must be behind the line. -
Lol. I’m saying how it’s going to happen and not what I think or want. These games still count. There are no freebies.
-
We may think this as fans but I don’t think the team makes decisions on the assumption that a player will get injured. If anything, this team has shown just the opposite by drafting inured players and assuming they return to full health.
-
l agree if they let Jamaal get to the open market then he may be too expensive. I think they could try to extend him on a 3 year deal that’s really 2 years at a small bump for him and good for the team. I think he would take it if they showed him love and a fair contract before FA starts. Swift is under contract for another year. They are going to give him another shot to stay healthy, learn how to hit a hole, and become the guy they actually believed could get 2000 AP yards. I don’t see a need to draft his replacement until after next year.

The boys made it out of group! Congrats and I’m glad they proved me wrong. This young midfield is sensational and that’s with Mckennie not nearly at 100% health. It’s going to fun to watch these kids grow up the next decade. Defense was also very stout. I loved that Berhalter benched Zimmerman. Great move. They were able to generate a little more offense today but the lack of quality chances overall is frustrating. It’s a nice matchup against a rebuilding Netherlands team. This Gakpo kid is on fire and they will have to stay with him. I like their chances on Saturday. -
Is everyone assuming they are letting Jamal Williams walk? That was my thought to start the year but I think they try to keep him now. Swift is still under control and Jackson or Reynolds are both fine options as 3rd back. I don’t see a need to pick an early RB in this draft unless they part ways with Jamal.

USC is 100% out with a loss on Friday. There is no scenario for them to make the playoff with 2 losses to Utah.
