  1. What a difference a week makes… I can hardly believe it myself but here we are and Bryson DeChambeau is the most popular golfer in the world. Crazy. LIV was dead in the water before Pinehurst and a few missed gimmes and an amazing sand shot has given them life. They are maybe in the best shape they’ve ever been. Nobody is watching on their crap TV deal but the crowds look big and alive at their Nashville stop this week. The bigger news may be there was no expected announcement of the PGA/PIF deal this week. Lots of rumors that it may not even be happening now. That would be a big problem for the PGA. Not sure they win a money war against the Saudis especially if their top players aren’t on their best game. It would be another a huge blow if a LIV golfer can win the British Open. Jon Rahm is going to get healthy and find his game sometime soon. It better not be him at Troon.
  2. I get that culture is word that is often tossed around in business and organizational development without a clear definition. Harris was very clear in what kind of culture he wanted. His quotes form his intro presser: When I think of Detroit, I think of trying to create an environment that inspires players to want to get better and to put in all the work that they can to get better,” Harris said at his introductory press conference Tuesday at Comerica Park. “It also means creating an environment around those players -- support staff, technology, coaching, development -- environments that inspire these players to get better. So when I think of the Tigers of the next few years, I think of free agents who may look to go to various places across our great game. When they think of Detroit, I want them to think of an environment where they are confident they can come and get better, they can perform at a higher level, they can lengthen their careers, they know they are going to be surrounded by people in this organization that are going to get the absolute most out of them.” I’ve been very lucky to work with Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Farhan Zaidi and many others,” Harris said. “One of the things they taught me very clearly is, if you’re going to do the same thing as every other organization, you’re probably not going to do it as well as they are, and you’re probably going to be chasing them the whole time. They taught me that it’s important to differentiate yourself and your operation. “It’s probably not that strategic to share what I think we can and should do here to differentiate ourselves. But if you look back at our track records in San Francisco and Chicago, that spirit of innovation and finding ways to differentiate yourself in creating that culture of development is something that carried us, and it’s something that is one of the reasons why we had so much success in those places.”
  3. It’s not even about the actual W and L results. I was never expecting it to get better quick but we are almost halfway in and zero percent of his culture change is apparent. I do agree the Flaherty trade and any other deadline deals will be big indicators.
  4. It would be foolish for anyone to expect meaningful change to happen quickly but we are a year and a half in there are no returns. Nothing of his philosophy is apparent on this organization. Nothing of what he wanted this organization to develop has occurred. The only snippet that has been apparent is his overzealous retaining of Colt Keith prior to playing a major league game. I’m not bailing on the guy yet. There’s still plenty of time for all 3 of his core tenants to happen but early returns are much like his teams plate discipline.
  5. How many young defenseman can you play in your top 6 and expect to be in the playoff hunt? It’s one thing to throw these guys to the wolves with a rebuilding team languishing at the bottom of the table but that isn’t the expectation anymore.
  6. The Alaskan Assassin with another confirmed kill!
  7. Reinforces how devastating a move it was to select Zadina one pick ahead of Hughes. As bad as Pistons Darko right ahead of Carmelo, Bosh, Wade and Lions Ebron ahead of Aaron Donald, OBJ, and Lewan.
  8. I’m not a Tigers fan. I’ve just been trolling myself for the last 40 years.
  9. Will be interesting going forward how today impacts Rory with fans. Americans respect someone that can man up and face the cameras even after crushing defeat. Rory did just the opposite. I personally don’t blame him at all based on how bad that ended but it wasn’t a great look declining to speak afterwards and getting caught on camera burning out of the parking lot before the trophy ceremony even ended. I don’t even think he congratulated Bryson. On the other hand, we love a good comeback story and Rory has been very popular so people may actually rally around him and show even more love.
  10. They are all going to be working for the Saudis starting next week. PGA/PIF agreement was reached last week but wasn’t announced out of respect to the USGA and their tournament. It’s been very unfortunate and unlucky for the PGA tour that since the inception of LIV all of their young stars have pretty much **** the bed. The Ryder Cup was terrible but it’s been a horrendous two years of not winning for Justin, JT, Collin, Cantlay, Finau, Homa, and now Rory. The entire Tiger saga has also gotten tired and old. He can’t even make a cut. Only Scottie and just recently Xander have had big time success and both of them have no real personality that resonates with fans. This tour needs to swallow pride and come back together with LIV and form a unified tour. The game needs it badly.
  11. What a colossal choke!! Rory blows a 2 shot lead with 5 holes to go by missing 2 putts under 4 feet.
  12. Things are heating up now. Looks like a 3 way battle between Bryson, Rory, and Cantlay. Going to be a fun final 9.
  13. Bad memories as this Slovenia/Denmark game approaches. Seeing Christian Eriksen nearly die on the pitch in the opening game of the last Euros was maybe the most disturbing thing I’ve ever watched in sports.
  14. LIV is barely a blip on the radar anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the last season and for sure next year if not. It was a giant money grab that will in the long run turn out to be a win win for everyone. The defectors will get back on tour at some point soon with a bunch more coin in their pockets. The PGA tour was forced to make a bunch of positive changes to its model in response to LIV that probably never would’ve happened otherwise. It probably will be the end of the Jay Monaghan era too and that’s a great thing for everyone. Here the same video from above from another source
  15. He likes to gambles too much to retire this young. He doesn’t have MJ money. He’ll be back when he needs to refill his bankroll.
  16. Wow. I’ll be thinking about this video all day while watching their pairing
