  1. There are others, but from everything I've read, they simply are not comparable in terms of speed and latency. Musk pushed this out ahead of schedule and many of the reports we've seen in the last few weeks about some issues are related to efforts from keeping the Russians from utilizing this service. Musk doesn't need to act like a baby and take his ball home, but he's been unfairly crapped on by the same folks he's helped quite a bit as well.
  2. James needs to really beat out Marlinga in Shelby though.
  3. I haven't followed polls/news related to the election as much as I usually do, but no scientific data, just my eyes in what I see when I drive around and there are very few political signs up in front of people's houses up here in Northern Macomb county. I want to believe that it's a sign that republican voters are just not motivated to vote. Of course it could just be that Trump is getting the donations instead of the state/local GOP parties and they can't afford them.
  4. She has stated his invasion was reprehensible.
  5. But everything is perfectly ok with letting a country bomb the crap out of another sovereign country, give them military aid, allow them to kill an American journalist in a NATO country with little retribution and still bend the knee just because you don't want high oil prices? Tulsi and Paul, IMO, have always been of the mindset that while some things may seem like the right thing to do, just try and stay out of it altogether. Again, i'm not advocating that stance, but it doesn't mean that they don't have some legitimate points at times which is all I'm saying.
  6. And while I liked McCain, there wasn't a war he didn't like. If you believe that the US must be proactive militarily because you're constantly in a cold war mindset, then anyone that doesn't want war can only be a hippy or an asset for the enemy.
  7. Guessing it's this video and I'm guessing he didn't watch it but saw 'Rumble' in her tweet. I don't necessarily get the Putin asset talk with her. She's like Rand Paul and doesn't want to be the World's cop and believes the US should stay out of everything unless it directly effects us. I'm not saying that's the best route, but I do think we need voices like this which point out many of the failures we have had which should at least heed caution on our foreign policy. That said... just what we need, another podcast.
  8. Didn't grab them but I saw reports that Belarus is bringing tanks out of storage and getting them on rail. Another, unconfirmed report, was of tons Russian soldiers being railed into Belarus "like cattle". I know there have been reports of some of the hardliners in the Kremlin wanting to be more aggressive, but if they are planning another attack from the north, as we're headed into Winter.... it just seems way to stupid.
  9. I think he visited Puerto Rico, but your point stands. So often when we look at historical figures, we no longer look at them with rose colored glasses, but grade them based on how they would be viewed today. With Columbus, even in his own time his brutality was such an issue that he found himself in trouble.
  10. I have a Hertel sign up after a canvasser came through. I honestly don't know a bunch about him, nor his opponent, but when in doubt I'll be voting democrat for now. I did like that his campaign flyer/website talks about bi-partisanship and in just doing a quick read of it, you wouldn't know if he's a democrat or republican. I appreciate running on a platform of wanting to do the job, rather than a platform of the other side is evil. Only one other house with signs in the neighborhood which includes one for a school board candidate that on his sign promises to 'teach the atrocities of socialism'.
  11. https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/flint-water-crisis/2022/10/04/flint-water-crisis-charges-dismissed-lyon-peeler-baird/69508869007/ End of the road for Flint? Nessel will complain and insist it's not over, but once she wins, I have a feeling you won't hear about Flint again. Almost criminal how horribly she has handled this.
  12. He just posted it, didn't even comment let alone gloat. It needs to be pointed out that getting the vaccine is beneficial, especially if you're older and therefore at a greater risk of this virus. Note, this is coming from the husband of a women that is still dealing with hypersensitivity to getting the Covid booster and flu shot at the same time last year. She just got done with another round of testing and she is officially #X (can't remember the exact number and if it was specific to Moderna or Covid booster as a whole, but it was something around number 20) that is dealing with long term issues related to this vaccine. The odds you or anyone you know would deal with her issue are closer to the odds of winning the lotto, but if you have anyone with any auto-immune issues already, I would suggest spacing out boosters and the flu vaccines.
  13. Fair point, but outside of accusations, I’m also not aware of any official accusations that he did so either. The CIA director that presided over this timeframe does not believe he did either (but does consider him a traitor and was worried he was to haphazard in his actions which could have resulted in the Russians getting information) Note, I acknowledge what he did was against the law. He lessons his position by not arguing his defense in a court of law here as well. But, If the argument is that we should accept the intelligence community at face value over Snowden, they are the only ones that have been proven to act illegally by the judicial branch regarding this issue.
  14. Apparently so. He claims he destroyed all the information he had and took nothing with him and that he refused to give any information to Russia in exchange for asylum. Is the US refuting that, formally? I just pulled up a few old articles and again it seems like the espionage charge is in relation to the surveillance program. Is it tied together or a separate issue in regards to Russia?
  15. I'm a little lost on Snowden's role in your statement here. Are you claiming that by Snowden leaking classified information about the US illegally monitoring it's own citizens, he helped Russia?
  16. I know I'm about the only one that is somewhat sympathetic to Snowden on this site, but this is a horrible reasoning. Because most people could reasonably speculate that the government does something it shouldn't, it's alright?
  17. I just read this following article before jumping back on this site and seeing your post Chuck. It might be a long storm he needs to wait out. https://sports.yahoo.com/report-brett-favre-used-his-charity-foundation-to-give-funding-to-southern-miss-athletics-235528444.html
  18. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63036991 Putin is so desperate for conscripts he just gave Snowden citizenship.
  19. I can't say what would have happened if Lindbergh won, but opinions can change. To be a warhawk 2 years ago meant you were a republican. Today, not to be a warhawk means you are endorsing fascism. Also, are you saying that if Germany attacked at Pearl Harbor and not people that looked obviously different from us, we would have just said that sucks and waved our hands in the air indicating there is nothing we really could do with our measly 130 million population?
  20. Election night on CNN means John King, can't go wrong there.
  21. Sadly the reason is probably because we're more conditioned and used to seeing the abuse of poor people. Favre got lucky the Queen died when she did. His dick pic got more coverage, granted salacious things always tend to get the headlines. As for Vick, from what i've heard, sounds like he's a great example of actual rehabilitation.
  22. The Bulwark had a good interview with a former CNN correspondent. The short of it is they see the shrinking numbers in cable news and while each network has competed, especially in primetime, long term they don't think it'll be a cash cow like it has been. CNN sees it's biggest numbers when a major event happens, so they view that as when it comes push to shove, people still trust CNN. As such, the concern isn't about making it profitable as a single entity, but Discovery wants it as their news crown jewel for their Discovery package.
  23. The problem isn't that you didn't understand my numbers, but rather you didn't understand my sarcasm. I work for a Fortune top 50 company. Even during good years, layoffs are a common end of year thing and IMO, it's to add costs to the bottom line to shrink bonus pay while forcing the remaining folks to do more for less the following year. As for interest costs, it doesn't matter how costs are incurred. More interests, higher wages, higher supply costs, etc, it'll result in mgmt finding a way to try and cut those. Heck, I see an argument that reduced revenue is the issue. Increased revenue can help hide a smaller ROI, that is definitely true, but even flatlined revenue will result in a focus as cutting costs.
  24. I usually side with you Screwball, but the numbers don't work here. Paying an extra 55 million in Interest is a great thing, not only for FedEx, but for UPS as well, especially if UPS was more responsible with debt. FedEx will lay off workers in order make up for it and they'll make sure to lay off enough that the severance packages incur large additional costs which they will write off, while shrinking their costs for next year and demanding more out of their existing staff. UPS will state that this is an advantage that FedEx has over them now, so while they don't even need to, they will follow suit and due the same. Their service will be worse next year, but their profits will be up. It's clearly a win/win for everyone involved.
