  1. I've re-read everything leading up to your 'track record' comment up until now and I have no idea what you're talking about in reference to me claiming to be a victim. You said it was ok for the left and media to destroy Trump IF he oversaw what happened to the unions in this railroad legislation because of his track record. I've simply pointed out that you all excuse Biden and he WAS the one to oversee it as it happened. I later joked that Fetterman has a 'track record' of defending unions and if we take his word at face value, once he gets a vote, we're going to be in a scary situation when and if he chooses to actually defend unions as our entire country could go into economic collapse.
  2. My disgust comment, and quite a few of my comments over this issue were said with some jest involved. But while overall I understand the reasoning why both parties chose to avoid any corporation/employee strike, don't pretend that the democrats made some valiant attempt to give the workers anything. They punted the issue and made it look like a 'win' before the election, then they split the vote to ensure that the end result was the exact same thing you would have gotten with the GOP, with the only caveat being that they can claim they tried to help. I actually defended Fetterman as in my view, his tweet indicated he would have fought for the workers more. I was assured that Fetterman's comments said no such thing. It apparently was the same ole Dem's, all talk with no indication there would ever be any action. Maybe he will fit in the party.
  3. The Railroads should be blamed, they are the ones that did this. There is only one solution, they give workers paid sick leave. Until then, it's the workers fight and as long as they want to fight, we should support them. If we let the railroads just have their will, where will it stop? Next time there is a corporation vs worker issue, the corporation will know they can just run over the worker and no one will help. You folks that choose appeasement disgust me.
  4. Yes, after they split up the vote to allow them to vote the way they did, knowing it would fail if separated.
  5. It's adorable how hard the dems fucked over workers and yet still are going to claim they are the party of workers. It's adorable how much you all defend them too.
  6. Similar to when 1984 says 'track record' allows you to infer something bad about someone (based on your own personal beliefs), I claim track record with Fetterman. His rhetoric has always been supportive of workers over corporations and has stood with workers and unions. Based on his track record, I think that in addition to saying he thinks companies should give them employees some paid sick leave, I think he's saying he would actually vote to allow that. As explained to me, in this circumstance, a vote to give paid sick leave, or even worse, a vote to allow the union to strike, would have crippled the economy and on a balance of give the workers a crumb or deal with the only other alternative, bankrupting the country, he would have voted for the employees (aka bankrupting the country). Words matter, you guys advocated for a guy willing to destroy the country just to give a few union workers, who will probably still vote for dems anyway, a few paid sick days off. There is no pay off for dems here, he needs to shut his mouth, fuck over workers, and take their money every 4 years when he claims he'll help them on another vote....without producing.
  7. And if Biden and the dems didn't force the unions to accept the deal you could have just as simply argued that Biden and the unions weren't causing economic pain, the corporate railroads were. Instead the railroads and Biden imposed their will on the employees and they aren't allowed to fight back. I'm not triggered. I hoped for this, actually I hoped they would hold the house too but still this was like winning the lottery. I'm still confident this 'broke the back' of the GOP and will result in a major refocus which should bring some more sanity back to the party. What i'm not inclined to do is to claim I won and turn a blind eye to the party I voted into power and chose to believe they are always making the best decisions and that I should never question them.
  8. Right, but as 1984 says, i'm a conservative, that's my track record. I should be beat up in the media for such horrible ideas. Yet Fetterman is advocating sinking this country just so a few workers can get a few paid sick days. We're not living in my pretend land as president, in a few weeks this man will have a vote and it was the democratic party that supported him. Hopefully the likes of him don't take over the party and the Democrats can stick to common sense ideas where they get union votes, without actually producing for the unions.
  9. Or now that he’s elected are you going to admit his health is an issue to excuse this imbecile thought process?
  10. And you guys actually supported this man over science (a doctor)?!?! Willing to just screw over the country. Typical democrats, just want to destroy America.
  11. Absolutely. On that note, I’ve been told on this site that Putin is crazy enough to nuke Ukraine, and even without that, by supplying Ukraine and prolonging this war, are we not harming workers and famine all over the entire world? So obviously it’s in a no win situation and Biden should just let Ukraine get screwed over, for the benefit of far more people. Right? That would be consistent right?
  12. What are you talking about? I said Trump would have done the same thing that Biden did here...which was nothing for the workers. I firmly believe, dabbling in hypotheticals, he would have been roasted by the unions, the left, and the media for doing exactly what Biden did here.
  13. I want what you're smoking. Trump would have been the evil man that doesn't even want workers to get paid a few sick days. Big corporation, what do you expect from the GOP, amirite? I'd like to think that I would have put more pressure on the railroads, including publicly if I had to. In the end, you may be right, that's where it might have come down to.
  14. I know you guys hate both sidsin', but there is something deep down in me that suspects if Trump and a GOP controlled congress did this they wouldn't be getting the excuses you all are reserving for the dems here.
  15. Of course Cruz did it for political points. So they couldn't vote to extend it, because they had already voted not to extend it. Got it. Wonder why Democrats got this extended prior to the election when it's obvious that rail cargo workers simply can't have generous (aka any) sick leave. Wonder why they just didn't deal with it then, since it was obviously what they should do. Things that make you go hmmm.
  16. A strike would have definitely hurt the economy. No doubt about it. But again, in the end, Union railway workers have zero paid sick time and all the money they sent in to elect democrats resulted in nothing to show for it. But hey, maybe next time right? I'm not going to play the 'If Trump/GOP were in power' game, but I do wonder if this would have gotten more coverage in the press and if that coverage would point out the fact that railroads are generating record profit right now. Things that make you go hmmm.
  17. Yeah, my bad. I hadn't seen the exact numbers and didn't catch which ones you were talking about. So congress could have voted to extend the deadline. Or they could have allowed the unions to strike. There was one sticking point, the employees wanted paid sick days. I know, absolutely unheard of if you're a union employee. That type of benefit has only existed in the white collar world traditionally (/sarcasm). So what did the dems do, they split up the 'ask'. 1) vote on if the union has to agree to terms without sick days (overwhelmingly passed by both sides) 2) vote to see if we should add paid sick days (didn't get the 60 votes needed). So the Dems get to claim they tried, while knowingly giving the railroads a win. There are many different scenarios a union friendly congress/executive branch could have handled this which would have given the employees a better chance to get some paid sick days.
  18. Editing as I realize you posted the sick leave numbers. But, they didn't need to have separated votes. They did so precisely so the left could claim a win, without actually delivering for unions. The actions from a democratic controlled congress and president means that the Unions are f'd while they get to tell their supporters that once again that you need to vote for them in order to support unions.
  19. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/12/01/ted-cruz-john-cornyn-bernie-sanders-railroad-union/ Even Ted Cruz voted in support with Unions. This is a big reason why Democrats have been losing blue collar support.
  20. I think you could argue is that you're describing another symptom to the politics argument. There were legitimate concerns against a full lockdown, such as the economy, education, and even other health issues as mentioned above. I absolutely remember many on the right arguing that by not exposing ourselves to each other and by proxy germs/viruses, that would cause other health care issues down the road. There was no debate by either side to come to any agreement, which only hardened folks to go all in on their side. If you wanted kids back in school, you obviously wanted to kill teachers which isn't surprising because the Right already hates teachers/unions. If you wanted to error on the side of caution and stay locked down longer, of course you do, you want the government to take care of you already, what else should we expect from you. You were labeled based on what the other side expected you to be based on that opinion because that helps reinforce your own believes. As such, legitimate issues were never negotiated to a point that for most of our citizens, if they didn't agree with the outcome, they at least understood it.
  21. Who do you folks follow that you're constantly seeing MTG on Twitter. I see her trending occasionally, I stay away from that.
  22. I feel like a GQP'er monitoring a precinct. I see stuff happening, but I don't understand it. I understood why the goal that was waved off was offsides, but surprised that the first goal wasn't questioned. From the gif's I see on it, it looks blatantly offsides (at least from the angle I saw). I never realized that you would voluntarily play a man down. I get wanting to keep your best player in, but is it that much of a drop off that playing the 12th best player in your country that you'd prefer to play short handed? That seemed insane to me.
  23. You guys seem to forget that Ukraine is already conquered if the US didn't get involved. We absolutely were a vital role in determining that this war did not end quickly. We are still a vital role going forward. You seem to equate everything I say to appeasement or chalk it up as there is simply nothing we can do. Like we are complete bystanders. I have no problems putting more pressure on Russia, heck, why stop at Russia. Put India in the spotlight for how they are getting around sanctions with Russia. Feel free to go after everyone with all tools possible to put as much pressure on Russia as possible.
  24. Again, what is victory? If they retake all of their land (including Crimea) by force, they'll still have a neighbor that has stated they should not exist, right? So what if they push into Russia and Russia waves the white flag. What if Russia agrees never to invade Ukraine again? They've made agreements before, how can you trust them?
  25. All I've been calling for is a push to get to a negotiation table to see if either side is there. Anytime I've mention that, i'm reminded that it's akin to appeasement and didn't I learn anything from Hitler. Add in the fact that there are legitimate reasons why some would have a vested interest in a long term proxy war and it makes me worry that we may miss out on an opportunity to see Russia leave all land (except Crimea, that is noted) and help ensure Ukraine sovereignty without more bloodshed. At this time, I don't see Russia stopping now, which I wholeheartedly agree that means Ukraine won't nor should stop now either. This war will grind to a halt in terms of the battle lines and Russia is going to spend the Winter bombing. Likely we didn't miss a chance recently as Ukraine's offensive again showed how weak this Russian army is, but I wish it would have been entertained, at least a little bit more openly. Russia will regroup and I suspect this Winter's bombings will take a toll on many Ukrainians, but if Ukraine comes out strong again in the spring, that's when I hope an additional push towards peace is offered. If Russia tries to sell that it has regrouped and takes losses early, maybe that would be the finally push needed for the Kremlin to push back on Putin.
