  1. Up to .300 now, which is impressive after starting the spring 0-9.
  2. As an aspiring Swifty, I thank thee.
  3. That’s what I get for trusting Twitter and being too lazy to fact-check.
  4. Let me plug that into GPT-4. I’ll get back to you with the answer.
  5. I don’t know what our cap situation is, but I like that we are solving needs and upgrading via free agency. Allows us to use our significant draft capital to either truly draft BPA or combine some picks to get a more elite player. We don’t need the draft to plug as many holes.
  6. I just saw that Miggy didn’t get a single AB in the WBC. Not great for getting him game ready, but hopefully it prepped him to embrace a significantly diminished role.
  7. Cecil was great—his 50 HR march was very exciting. Not on the level of what the Bird did in ‘76, but still a lot of fun. Probably not replicated until Miggy got the Triple Crown. 50 HR in a season seems a bit pedestrian now, but it was rarified air when he was able to achieve it in 1990–I think George Foster had been the last to accomplish in the late 70’s.
  8. Agree that 2B, if Schoop, and DH will underwhelm this season. 2024 will be interesting as we will need to address those, as well as probably one OF spot. Assume upgrades at each, along with healthy returns by Mize and Skubal, and we might be able to accelerate our race to mediocrity.
  9. I miss Mario and Rod dearly. Basically every time Shep opens his mouth. Baseball needs a good marketer (shameless plug), who can help identify how fans of all types truly feel about the sport. I’m sure those insights would be extremely sobering and hopefully push them to take some fan-friendly changes beyond the game rules changes, which I do applaud. Baseball is in danger of becoming increasingly irrelevant to a younger audience.
  10. I’m not Brieske’s biggest fan, but he was unfairly rushed to the majors last season out of desperation. He really should be in Toledo this season, which is likely. I’d like him stretched out as a starter in the event of an injury. Not sure if he’s our next Kevin Ritz, but organizations need depth to log innings at every level. Hopefully he can get Fetterized and unlock some more potential.
  11. I wonder if Short is being seriously considered for a bench spot? He’s played well this spring and might be our best defensive SS, especially if they don’t want to keep Kreidler on the bench. Playing him in LF today makes me think that they are thinking about it.
  12. A little surprised that Jonathan Davis is still getting starts. He seems to still be in the mix.
  13. What did you prove, Encyclopedia Brown? That one poster doesn’t believe that Jobe will amount to much now? Yes, you really blew the lid off that!
  14. I do think we need to be thoughtful about getting a good backup. A serious injury to Goff would submarine what should be a very promising season.
  15. I’m writing him off. Probably a coping mechanism for me, but I’m not confident that he’ll be able to avoid surgery, given the 3-6 month recovery window. Will be happy to be proven wrong.
  16. According to the prospect pundits, he wasn’t a top pitching prospect prior to his injury, so nothing has changed.
  17. Expectations are higher for a #3 pick, so this is a major disappointment that many believe could have been avoided by not selecting a HS pitcher over a position player. In full transparency, I was supportive of the signing at the time—now I feel much shame. I don’t know how the new administration factors in? First off, they’ve not accomplished anything to warrant any faith at this point. Secondly, are any of them medical doctors? If anything, Jobe appears to have got injured under their watch. I’m not blaming them, but I don’t see the relevance of a new administration here.
  18. What report do you hope to see? I don’t think Holmes is the type to run a loose ship where rumors get leaked. Pretty sure no one saw most of the free agents we signed coming until they were announced.
  19. What if Holmes tried? We assume that we are the first choice for every free agent. Sometimes signing someone is a result of missing out on another player.
  20. Hope so. Kind of a must-win game for us.
  21. Depends. If they rehab this season and then determine he does in fact need surgery, he could miss next year, as well. And then we hope there is nothing wrong with his wing through all of this. I’m not counting on anything from him moving forward—any contribution will be a pleasant surprise.
  22. Can’t they just do his obligatory TJ surgery at the same time? Sort of the opposite of Mize, who started with TJ and decided to get his back fixed.
  23. Mets are all-in this season. Will be interesting to see how they replace him. Wish we had a closer we could send them—their desperation would make them a great trade partner.
  24. Lumbar spine? So, not arm-related.
