  1. Good question—seems like they could have played tomorrow, at least.
  2. Not exactly in the best shape of his career.
  3. I like your W/L prediction for the Tigers—I would have guessed 75 wins. individual predictions are interesting. I agree ERod gets dealt, but I’m predicting to the Yankees. Their starting rotation is a mess and they have too much invested in that team to win to trust their minors guys. We might have to take on another contract (ie, Donaldson or LeMehieu), to get a good prospect or two in return. I think our team ROY will be Carpenter. I don’t see Sands getting called up, barring an injury or poor performance by our catchers. I also think Greene will lead in BA and HR.
  4. I’m not comparing the merits of Schoop vs Kreidler. Just stating that there will be zero interest in trade for Schoop. Teams rarely makes trades before the deadline and the other GM’s aren’t stupid. The reason we don’t want Schoop on the roster is the same that another team would never give up anything of value and/or take on his contract. The only reason to take Schoop north is if he is our best option or the Tigers want Kreidler getting more time in Toledo. But not as a showcase in a trade.
  5. I like it in theory, but he will never command anything in a trade, regardless of how he hits.
  6. Probably more if the Tigers do the right thing and just cut Schoop. He has no place on this team.
  7. As much as I detest listening to Shep, Buck Martinez might be worse. Horrible color guy and his voice is grating as hell.
  8. This is the reason to wait—would suck to finalize the roster and tell a player they made the team only to acquire a better option and have to reverse it.
  9. Incessant complaining about Miggy…
  10. FernandoMania was a big deal, but I think more regional. And not really sure why.
  11. Came across this card on eBay. Pretty certain I had it as a kid. Sharing the back of it, as it’s pretty well written and comprehensive of what his accomplishments and appeal were. Enjoy
  12. Was Roger Clemens pitching?
  13. My point was the health/interest in baseball in the US, where the owners get the majority of their revenue. I agree that it’s encouraging that baseball is becoming more international and there may be a future where the MLB expands into other markets. However, disappointing US ratings for tonight does not portend well. The USA team is loaded with superstars and Japan has the game’s most exciting player. This really should be must-see TV, even for the most casual of baseball fans. I do hope the ratings reflect this.
  14. Surprised Vierling isn't playing every remaining game to make up for his lost time.
  15. It should, if they care about the health of the product in their core market
  16. The viewership in the U.S. will be a great litmus test for interest in baseball. I suspect the majority of people have not been paying attention or are even aware of tonight’s game. ”Get Up” on ESPN led off their program with Women’s NCAA basketball and followed that up with the Knicks game last night. No mention of yesterday’s WBC game, or tonight’s USA v Japan.
  17. You’re wasting your time
  18. If we re-sign Chark, this place is going to explode. And makes you wonder if a QB at #6 would now be in play. A luxury, perhaps, but would have the luxury of developing behind Goff for a season or two, and be a viable injury replacement, if necessary.
  19. Someone please tell me how I should feel.
  20. Up to .300 now, which is impressive after starting the spring 0-9.
  21. As an aspiring Swifty, I thank thee.
  22. That’s what I get for trusting Twitter and being too lazy to fact-check.
