  1. Excited to see a healthy Turnbull come back. He was pitching very well before his injury.
  2. Things I don’t care about: the political leanings of professional sports executives.
  3. The LaRussa/Baines thing makes me even more pissed off. Might have been Lou’s best shot.
  4. Feels like an appropriate place for this—Whitaker again snubbed for the HOF—didn’t even make it on the veterans ballot: Lou Whitaker snubbed by Hall of Fame again; Detroit Tigers great left off vet ballot https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2022/11/07/tigers-lou-whitaker-snubbed-by-baseball-hall-of-fame-vet-ballot/69627773007/
  5. I didn’t realize our pitchers had drinking/substance abuse issues? Now, what about our hitters?
  6. Was a joke. Not a great one, apparently.
  7. Where is Barnhart on that list?!? Such disrespect
  8. There’s Detroit vs the suburbs. Most professional athletes live In Birmingham, Grosse Pointe, Bloomfield Hills and all are great places to live.
  9. Isn’t that what I said?
  10. ESPN’s power rankings for next season.
  11. I think all of this debate has been about how attractive Detroit is as a free agent destination. I would argue the decision for a player is less about recent W-L record, because that can change and I think the Tigers front office changes demonstrate that the organization is committed to winning. The bigger issue are perceptions around Detroit itself. From the outside looking in, Detroit, on the surface, is probably not an appealing destination. Associations with crime, bankrupt city, automotive industry, cold climate, etc... might be difficult for players, and as important, their spouses/significant others. Of course, those of us who live here realize that there is a significant gap between perceptions and reality, and that has been proven as most players who come here, don't want to leave (Miggy, JV, V-Mart, JD Martinez, etc...). At the end of the day, we might miss out on a player or two that we're interested in, but I don't see us as being at a big disadvantage. I do think we're likely in an overpay situation (either in dollars/years), but it's probably always been that way for prospective free agents, who are in demand and have choices.
  12. For me, three are pretty cut and dry: Cobb, Kaline and Greenberg. The last is a bit trickier, with Gehringer, Trammell and Cabrera in the mix. I’m going with Trammell over Cabrera—played his entire career with the Tigers, won a WS, HOF’er, and a sentimental pick as my all-time favorite Tiger. My final: Cobb Kaline Greenberg Trammell
  13. Who are your (4) choices that belong on the Tigers all-time Mount Rushmore?
  14. Dombrowski moves to 2-3 in World Series. Impressive, though, that he’s made it there with four separate teams.
  15. Shades of Dean Palmer!
  16. I don’t think Correa’s market will be much better, unless one of the Dodgers, Red Sox or Braves decide he is a better option than their own impending free agent SS. Cubs could be a wild card, though.
  17. Probably the Yankees. Better team and ballpark to hit in, which would help net a better long term deal. $2M is negligible in the grand scheme of things.
  18. Who are our tradable relievers? Lange? Maybe, Jimenez, but I have to believe he was dangled at the trade deadline. Soto could be a non-tender given his late season collapse. I don’t see much that would yield anything of value. Teams typically sign relievers in the offseason and trade for them at the deadline.
  19. Here’s the 2023 opening day lineup I’d like to see: LF Brandon Nimmo CF Riley Greene SS Carlos Correa 2B Javier Baez RF Austin Meadows DH Miguel Cabrera 1B Spencer Torkelson 3B Jonathan Schoop C Eric Haase/J. Rogers I’d be OK subbing Candy for Schoop, but really don’t want both guys next year.
  20. I see that Nick isn’t the only combative personality in the Castellanos household. Telling the Phillies fans that they suck is in the first year of a long-term contract is going to be rough.
  21. F the Astros. I want the Phillie Phanatic to get a ring this year.
  22. Did we screw up the Jung pick? Is it possible that the guy who can’t field, also won’t hit very well?
  23. I always think this is interesting—how does this work during the season? Players don’t get enough time off to travel home—is it so it’s more convenient for their family to visit them during homestands?
  24. Yeah, Cleveland should pick him up. He's still solid and cost-effective, as many failed starters are.
  25. 2022 added Carlos Rodon and Joc Pederson, so not the same team.
