  1. Where does he hit in the lineup?
  2. Miggy is not blocking him—no way that Hinch calls up a prospect and sticks him at DH. It’s more likely that Nevin is blocking him.
  3. There is zero doubt he opts out., unless he gets hurt or implodes. That was a team friendly contract when he signed and even more so given the free agent nuttiness this past winter. I think he’d be attractive to any playoff contender and has proven he can pitch in a pressure cooker like Boston. I’d like two more Malloy’s, please.
  4. Another day, another two hits from Malloy and Keith. It’s getting kind of boring. Nice to see Flores pitch some scoreless innings, but where are the K’s? Baby steps, I guess.
  5. He’s raking since his demotion. Ball probably looks bigger when you go from MLB to AAA pitching.
  6. What’s exciting about this draft is that we have an adult with a great track record in charge. With an already good team, we’re going to add at least 3-4 players who will improve it, as soon as next season. And cap space to plug holes, post-draft. The Eagles added Matt Patricia to fix their D. SF does not have a clear cut starting QB they can count on right now. NFC Champs or bust. #bluekoolaid #ohyeah
  7. The best way to get out Tigers batters is throw strikes, preferably down the middle. We can’t hit them.
  8. We have so many holes on this team, it would be a failure not to find spots for both.
  9. We really can’t count on either guy, ultimately, but it will be a nice problem if they both can play there. Keith might be able to go to RF (his arm would play well there) or 2B.
  10. I never said he was one of the best 25. Haven’t seen him play a single game, outside of Spring Training. However, if the Tigers believe he is, I hope they let merit rule the day.
  11. I never said we should call him up—I’ll defer to the front office as to when that should be. His bat looks good, but it’s also still a small sample size this season. I have no idea if his defense is ready yet, either. He just has a much brighter outlook than the guys who might stand in his way on the big league roster. I suspect we’ll see him by July.
  12. I don’t think Colt Keith is going to be that much further behind Malloy—he’s raking, too, at Erie. If he’s the superior defensive 3B, which I don’t know, Malloy might end up in the OF, anyway.
  13. I think that signing was in response to Chark signing elsewhere.
  14. I’d be surprised if this news changes our 1st or 2nd round approach.
  15. That was already happening
  16. I appreciate the caution, but I also subscribe to the Jim Leyland school of wanting the best 25 (now 26) players on the big league squad. If Malloy proves to be one of them, and can take away the empty AB’s from Nevin, McKinstry and Schoop, I’m down with it. I wouldn’t let service time factor into the equation.
  17. Damn—forgot they moved the walls.
  18. Betting on the Miggy/Tork/Baez HR parlay this weekend.
  19. I know Hinch likes to mix it up, but I’d be good if we put out the following infield, lumps and all, most days for the 2nd half of the season: 1B Tork Bomb 2B El Lobo SS Baez 3B Malloy
  20. I think they had off-field issues with Weaver and Fick. Weaver was not dumped, either—they got Carlos Peña and Bonderman for him. I do agree with your last statement, though.
  21. JV has been outspoken in the past against cheaters. Perhaps his time in Houston helped soften his stance. I suspect he’ll be silent now.
  22. I don’t think we signed him—he was on the final year of his contract when we traded for him.
  23. We dodged that bullet. He rejected our long term offer.
  24. The guy on the Tigers I would want to avoid in a fight is Baez.
