  1. The one catcher in the system who looks like he can hit is Josh Crouch. No idea around his defensive skills, but looks like he could move up to Erie if Dingler gets called up to Toledo.
  2. Wenceel, who has come up in discussion a few times today, is hitting better in Erie than he did in WM (his OPS is 50 points higher, though in half the AB’s). Need to emphasize that he’s only 22.
  3. A couple of performers from tonight: Our 7th round pick from last year. Like all or most of the pitchers drafted, he didn’t see any game action in 2021. Assigned to High A, his numbers look excellent—he doesn’t get discussed much, but hopefully we have another Brieske on our hands. And he’s a lefty.
  4. Doesn’t help us for this season, but I suspect Keith will move to 3B at Erie next year. With Jung and Graham now in the pipeline, along with Wenceel, it allows them to move him to 3B to expedite his path to the majors.
  5. I don’t agree that Jeimer is on the squad next season. I think if Kreidler stays healthy, he gets called up to play 3B in September. They’ll non-tender Candelario, IMO
  6. Baddoo with a little bit of redemption—gave up two runs, but saved one.
  7. Bullpen completely let down by Candy and Baddoo.
  8. In truth, AJ and Al should never have shared or hinted at any issues along the way. To what end did that serve?
  9. Welcome back, Eduardo. Hope everything is OK.
  10. Great—looking forward to your list in a month or so when you’re able to do your due diligence. I’ll remind you. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy reading other individual’s content for debate and discussion purposes (which is why most of us come here in the first place).
  11. Missed that Peyton Graham signed—hope he gets into some games soon.
  12. Agree. He’s been called out on Twitter for Santana’s omission. Carpenter is interesting—is he the real deal or another Steven Moya?
  13. Of course. Based on your response, you’re in no place to be critical.
  14. Not a bad list—don’t know much about Bastidas, though
  15. Wish Sale had been the pitcher
  16. Nice—really would like to see him salvage the balance of the season.
  17. If Miggy doesn’t get hurt, his career offensive stats would encroach upon the top 10 all-time in many categories. He’s not going anywhere next season—he might see his playing time reduced, but he’ll be allowed to retire on his terms. Maybe he can pitch in the blowouts? The 40-man roster squeeze is real, but will be for all teams. The Castro boys and Candy might be vulnerable, but as others have pointed out, we have some guys with expiring contracts which will help.
  18. Cutting Hutchinson for Keuchel really doesn’t solve the issue. All things equal, I’d rather run Hutchinson out there.
  19. Yeah, the 40-man roster is real and going to be a challenge moving forward.
  20. I’d probably consider it only to have someone pitch innings besides Harold Castro. I’d prefer that Elvin Rodriguez and Garrett Hill pitch in Toledo this year.
  21. I want to. Nothing wrong with taking a bit more time to develop. Hope he gets there.
  22. If he doesn’t yield anything of worth in return, you keep him. We need as many innings we can get out of him, in the event of more injuries or innings limits to our young guys.
  23. My point is that we’re under no obligation to make a trade. Moving a young pitcher like Soto for another young pitcher, unless it’s a big upgrade, doesn’t make sense. I also believe we have a lot of good young pitching knocking on the door, so yes, I’d prefer we fill one of the 7 lineup spots next to Tork and Greene that are currently mostly a black hole.
