  1. The article in the Athletic does not paint a pretty picture. He never could field, now can’t hit and is a prickly d-bag. I don’t see another team pursuing him.
  2. Chas has amnesia or selective memory regarding his position on free agents wanting to 1) play for the Tigers and 2) reside in the Detroit area.
  3. I’m very excited for Verlander to be back, but if we’re being honest, Reese is probably a better pitcher at this point in their careers.
  4. Why stop now? Especially when we can pay these guys in 2040. (Suckers don't realize the end of the world is in 2035)
  5. This might just be Reese insurance, but wonder if a trade is forthcoming for another bat? Mize for ?
  6. I have to keep reminding her that I don’t have to pay for it.
  7. Keith Law Lovefest 💕 on Tigers Today podcast w/Tony Paul (apologies—couldn’t paste the link)
  8. The recent Evan Petzold pod with Al Avila was excellent. Definitely put things in perspective—25 out of the 40-man are Avila players and he was candid about what went right and what didn’t. Even Chas’ cold, stony heart would be warmed a bit after a listen.
  9. You could add Miggy and Javier Baez to the failed contracts list. Justin Upton, too. Going back further, Damion “you try and trade him” Easley and Bobby Higginson. And we dodged a bullet when Juan Gonzalez rejected ours.
  10. I read somewhere (maybe here?) that the Tigers would lose their Competitive Balance pick (-69 overall), for signing Valdez. However, those picks can be dealt. In that event, the Tigers would lose their 3rd rounder (-94). If the Tigers could get something of value for their Comp pick, it might be worth dealing it—perhaps as a sweetener in a larger deal.
  11. Paredes trade rumors. Tigers being stealthy?
  12. The idea that this team would implode without Skubal is ridiculous. He’ll pitch in 20% of our games, if lucky and log 2/3 innings in of each of those. He is amazing, but we have won without him and will again.
  13. Here is the list of teams who appeared in the postseason in both ‘24 and ‘25: New York Yankees Cleveland Guardians Detroit Tigers Los Angeles Dodgers Philadelphia Phillies Milwaukee Brewers San Diego Padres
  14. Higgy had to have been juicing. As soon as they started to crack down, his output dropped. Also interesting that he has not appeared anywhere.
  15. Both Mize and Flaherty are subject to a qualifying offers. If the Tigers are willing to extend them both (-$45M), they will likely accept them because the attached draft pick will likely make them less attractive in free agency. So, there is the potential to keeping most of the ‘26 rotation intact, with Valdez, Reese, Jobe and Melton. In short, we’re good.
  16. Mize is a free agent, too. Could get a QO, which he would almost certainly accept, unless he has an insane season.
  17. Could be a trade forthcoming. I still contend that Mize could be dealt. Very team friendly contract.
  18. It won’t happen, but Flaherty would help a ton in the pen.
  19. Will be interesting to see if they want Melton to start in Toledo, assuming he’d be the odd man out. Also wonder if Reese is healthy.
  20. Hard to say, but a team trading for him would have wanted to avoid arbitration, so something could happen now.
  21. Adding a SP might push a starter candidate to the pen, potentially strengthening that, too.
  22. Anyone hoping that Skubal wins? Genuinely curious. All my life I’ve sided with the team over the players and wondering if anyone feels differently.
  23. I’ll bet on one or more of the following 3B candidates emerging this season: Keith, Baez, McGonigle, Vierling. Jung, Lee and Anderson. I think we’ll be OK
