  1. I was using the Pelfrey comp based on where I think he currently is. Not as a compliment. I’ve written Manning off (as the Tigers seem to have, as well). I disagree with your assessment of Mize—I didn’t think he was rushed, nor do I think it’s time to give up on him. He has lost significant development time to injuries. If he’s pitching like this again next season, I’ll gladly revisit my outlook.
  2. That one was rough, but I’ve since forgiven them for laying down the last weekend in 2003 so we could avoid the all-time worst record. I sincerely hope we don’t extend the same grace to the White Sox during our last series of the season.
  3. By being rushed? I don’t believe either were. Neither developed a knockout pitch, though I still think Mize is capable. I ain’t quitting’ him. Manning reminds me of a Mike Pelfrey-type.
  4. My AL Central hate (in order of most hated): 1. Indians 2. White Sox 3. Royals 4. Twins
  5. That’s on Cora.
  6. I’m dedicating this season to Bert, who has personally experienced seeing Ty Cobb play at Navin Field all the way to Zach McKinstry at Comerica Park. No one deserves this more.
  7. He’s en fuego lately. Does every other MLB team have a beat writer as nostalgic and creepy?
  8. Must win. Amirite?
  9. Esprit de corps? 5 Star post
  10. You’d have to go deeper in the thread, but not recommending it. The point is we shouldn’t rush to judgement over a ridiculously small sample size.
  11. Just enjoy the ride, boys. It might not end up with the postseason, but a lot of goodness that we can take away from this season. A bunch of rookies and young guys are playing winning ball.
  12. ? Ever? I’ll take the series win against everyone.
  13. So, let’s not cast off someone after their first 10 games? We’re in violent agreement.
  14. Crap—there goes the W for Skubal. Now win the game, dammit
  15. Here comes Guenther
  16. I’ve already been told that we shouldn’t pay any attention to Workman’s statistics this season. (but I do agree with you)
  17. So, if he struggles in his first 35 AB’s, he’s destined to be a utility guy, but hitting well after 60, it’s too small of a sample size? just trying to keep up.
  18. This hasn’t aged well.
  19. Excellent post. What we haven’t seen yet is Harris moving prospects for established players. Makes sense given where we’ve been, but this offseason we probably should be buyers and have a lot of organizational depth and overlap at some positions. Will he be willing to move prospects? DD put on a MasterClass doing that, but we don’t know what Harris’ philosophy is.
  20. Any idea why High A has finished their season earlier, or is it that Erie and Lakeland are playing in their respective playoffs?
  21. Hard to say what he’ll be. Has the pedigree (1st rounder) and seems to hit RH well. The only point is that he looks good so far and it would be ridiculous to write him off. I doubt he’s our long term solution, but can be a platoon stopgap option with Baez until McGonigle or Rainer is ready.
  22. Post of the year
