    Sparky was also pissed at the Tigers near the end—I’ve read they treated him differently after he refused to manage scabs during the 1994 strike. Apparently Mr. I was not happy with that decision.

    It’s not far-fetched. Tatis has a PED suspension and rumors of attitude issues. Also has a massive contract. And the Padres need to clear payroll. Also had a bit of a pedestrian offensive season last year (by his standards). Whoever trades for him would be assuming some risk.

    Hope you’re all correct about Manning, but I personally don’t see it. He doesn’t really have an out pitch, though could still develop I suppose. I think he’s a 4th or 5th starter, at best. His low salary helps his trade value. I see him being added to a deal vs being the central piece, unless it’s for a Triple A catcher or someone like that.

    Pat Caputo suggested that the Tigers could trade Baddoo and Manning because we have depth at their positions. He left out that neither have much trade value.

    I count (7) HOF’ers. Wonder how many teams can match or exceed that within a similar timeframe.

    I think of him as an Expo. That franchise produced so many talented players and eventual Hall of Famers.

    Pitchers get hurt and don’t always regain their stuff. I think a 5 year deal is extremely risky. We just got out from under Miggy’s contract—do we want another with more considerable risk? If the going price is 6 or more years for a pitcher, I prefer we pass and try and grow our own.

    The Cardinals had been very public about wanting to sign two free agent pitchers, which probably excited their fan base. Then they signed Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson. I really hope the rumors that we were in on Lynn were completely unfounded, otherwise I’m going to be very scared this offseason.

    Most of them paid over $200 a ticket, plus all of the ancillary expenses, expecting to see an easy W. Not the first time fans of any team have been fickle. SOL causes a lot of PTSD.
