  1. Doesn’t he understand that his “befuddling” offensive struggles directly led to losing his job? Classic McCosky tweet.
  2. Yeah, not great when you have to be relieved by a middle infielder who performs better.
  3. I was at that game. Very memorable seeing him run off the field mid-inning.
  4. I see Jung moving up to Erie.
  5. See Meadows for Paredes. That was a trade I celebrated when it was made.
  6. Yes, and given the dearth of 1B in the organization, having someone to plug in there in the event of a Tork injury or implosion might have been helpful. However, I was OK with Candy not being rewarded with a salary increase after hitting .217 in 2022.
  7. Looks like the 3B was Dave Chalk
  8. The worst part is that they made Schoop hit him grounders.
  9. would have been interesting during the Dombrowski era--seems like we surrendered some 1st rounders to sign free agents. I think he would have traded any picks we had for vets.
  10. why, does Beato suck at broadcasting, too?
  11. I think if we had kept Candy, and he had the season he's having for us (debatable), he likely would be moved at the deadline. I'm interested to see who the Nationals receive in return--if it's a haul, I'll be more bummed.
  12. Baseball needs to allow picks to be traded. Would just make everything more interesting.
  13. Barring a promotion to Detroit, Meadows is in a good position to finish with a 20/20 season. Really encouraged by Luke Gold--after a rough start to the season, he has been raking and is putting up very respectable numbers. I can see him moving up to West Michigan at some point this season, which probably should be expected for a college player.
  14. He is easily triggered. Comes across like Tigers PR.
  15. the good old days when these two teams were pretty, pretty, good.
  16. If everything goes well/as planned, here are the starters I believe we have in the organization: -Mize, Skubal, Manning, Jobe Many who fall in the might be a starter-or-reliever category: Olsen, Brieske, Faedo, Hill, Englert, Flores, Madden, D. Smith, Hurter—probably a few others I eliminated ERod (likely opt-out), Lorenzen and Boyd (one-year rentals) from this. The point is that we have few clear cut SP, and all have experienced injuries this season. Adding Skenes, who appears to be a sure starter, could only help our depth. of course, I still prefer Crews or Langford if they are there at #3
  17. I prefer the college outfielders, but won’t cry if it’s Skenes. I think we have more hitters in the minors than potential starting pitchers.
  18. Anyone know why Greene was in the Tigers dugout yesterday? Perhaps they planned to give him the day off in Toledo, and he drove up to hang with the Varsity?
  19. This. We’ve been deluded into thinking this team is a contender based on the ****ty division we’re in. We’re not. It’s not in our best interest to force matters by bringing players up prematurely. For me, it’s just getting more AB’s and innings for players who could be part of our long term future (Tork, Carpenter, Greene, Rogers, Vierling, Manning, Skubal, Olsen, Lange, Foley and Vest).
  20. I think we get swept cause it’s 2023. Of course if we do what we should, we will make nice inroads to getting to .500
  21. With Greene DHing, I assume his rehab assignment will go a bit longer.
  22. Probably tempting to send Olsen down to keep him stretched out, but I’d like to see him in the pen.
