  1. not sure if Maton has any more options left, but they should flip those two for the balance of the season.
  2. Much more tasteful than the Ill-conceived Daisy Dukes night with the players.
  3. Guys that we should not count in any significant roles next year: Haase Ibanez McKinstry Baddoo Short Maton
  4. I probably would not count on more than one of Keith, Malloy or Meadows making the squad and contributing. Would be great if 2, or all 3 could, but it’s unlikely. We have plenty of depth at each position, but not the type to significantly improve a lineup that is in the bottom 5 in most offensive categories. We will need to fortify a few positions through external acquisitions. As others have noted, the opportunities are likely at C, OF and either 2B or 3B. Not sure if free agency will get it done, so we’re going to have to be willing to trade some prospects, which Harris will likely embrace as he didn’t draft most of them. If ERod stays, I don’t think we need to acquire a SP as there should be plenty of depth to choose from. The rotation could look like something like this: ERod Skubal Mize Turnbull Manning Depth: Olsen Faedo Wentz Madden Long Flores (?) Finally, I’d like to see a veteran option for the bullpen, maybe two if they don’t bring back Cisnero. Locks seem to be Vest, Holton, Lange, Brieske and Foley. I could also see Faedo and Wentz in the mix, too. Mattison and White are waiting in the wings, too. I don’t see this team in a rebuild. There is a good foundation to work from, and with some smart acquisitions and a bit of luck, we could be competitive quickly.
  5. I think Maton stays if he still has minors options.
  6. He’s the anti-Singuel
  7. We know exactly where the Tigers money went
  8. Not sure it would matter, but you have to wonder if the Rule 5 requirements of staying on a major league roster all season, actually stunt their development?
  9. Parker Meadows with two SB tonight—currently at 18/18–a 20/20 season is likely, barring a quick promotion.
  10. Makes you wonder if he was part of the original deal, and they worked something out afterwards given that the Dodgers had designated him for assignment after taking him off their 40-man when they added a couple of pitchers.
  11. Ripken is very much in his sights.
  12. We should have been buyers this trade deadline. I hope we at least explored that, though it does seem there were few sellers.
  13. Bigbie is legit—interested to see where he ends up on prospect rankings this offseason.
  14. Certainly looks that way
  15. Has 4 hits on the season so far—2 doubles, 1 triple and a dinger. He told the TikTok crowd that singles are for pussies.
  16. At least he played on one. And had a job that he presumably loved until he was 81. We should all be so fortunate.
  17. Good guy and maybe the longest tenured Tiger employee? May he “buggy whip” an unlimited number of “yellow hammers” in heaven.
  18. I think we’ll see Meadows. He’s already on the 40 man, so no issues there.
  19. a boy can dream. Though, I prefer Shep in the mix in contrast to the players-only debacle. They were lacking an adult in the mix to keep things on track. In reality, they need a new PBP guy, and pair them with either Petry or Andy Dirks (who is killing it on the radio). I don't mind Gibby in the mix, as long as he's not with his buddies (i.e., Rozema).
  20. Jackson Jobe article on Fangraphs https://blogs.fangraphs.com/sunday-notes-jackson-jobe-has-a-jacob-degrom-like-cutter/
  21. He’s our Milt Wilcox. Was hoping for Dan Petry.
  22. I don’t think enough has been said about the fact that the Tigers were trading Jake Rogers (Jason Beck has said as much, which is why Sands was dispatched to Pennsylvania). It would appear that no major league ready catcher was coming back. To me, it suggests that the Tigers don’t necessarily view him as their catcher of the near future. Might be an area they address this offseason.
  23. I agree. Too many hurt feelings here. He’s easily a top 40 starting pitcher in the majors. On our team, only Skubal is close in talent (maybe Jobe at some point). In free agency, we’d easily and gladly extend a 4 yr/$80M contract to someone similar to replace him. This is all moot, though, as I think ERod will opt out.
  24. What do we call it when the Tigers and each of their four full season farm teams all win on the same day? Immaculate Saturday?
