  1. You can also get all local broadcasts on XM—more expensive, but you get much more.
  2. Keeping a player like Englert is what this season should be about. Players with potential getting playing time. I’m not sure what his upside is, but he’s shown flashes. Ideally, he’d be developing in AAA, but that’s the price to acquire a talent for free (or $50k). A bummer he had to take his lumps yesterday, but he’s in the bigs, so hopefully he recognizes the opportunity he has been given.
  3. He’s pursuing other opportunities.
  4. Nevermind about the Bird—hadn’t seen your post about that. Wish they had animated it.
  5. I love this on many levels. Big REM fan, and I recall watching when it happened. It was comical—how did they think that was going to end up? Looking forward to more of these from Buck and Mills—Pine Tar incident, Birdmania, Morganna, LSD no-no. So much rich material.
  6. Gotcha. I thought I read yesterday’s game was on Peacock, so I didn’t bother tuning in. Best decision I’ve made all weekend.
  7. So, all three games this weekend are on paid streaming services? Brilliant strategy MLB to take a product with diminishing interest and make it more difficult to consume.
  8. Reasons to consider trading Carpenter: -He has less than 300 career MLB AB’s -He’s probably a DH -Another team over values him -We can take on a bigger contract for a better, more complete player from a team looking to cut payroll. I doubt he gets moved, but I’d be open to it if I’m Harris.
  9. Who gets the 9th for the Friars? Trevor Hoffman or Goose Gossage?
  10. Cronenwerth drops Tork’s foul ball to 1B. Tork is heard saying, “so that’s what that looks like!”
  11. The pregame show was a Padres love fest on Apple+. Hope the Tigers beat the **** out of them Must ****ing win!
  12. He might also be a DH only version of Brennan Boesch. I wouldn’t flip him for a prospect (probably), but if a team needed to shed a salary of an established veteran or had a glut of 3B, that might be something. Just nice to see that he’s coveted—I trust Harris and his posse to figure it out.
  13. Sorry, but this is the definition of selling high.
  14. And against all odds—every member of our starting rotation has missed time to injuries and our entire OF that broke camp was on the IL at the same time. A very good team would have struggled with all of that.
  15. If I’m being honest, I can’t keep my eyes off the Miggy Milestone tracker in LF every time I go to a game. So, there’s that.
  16. That was an unusual trade. Basically we traded a young CF to get a younger one. Of course other players were involved, too.
  17. Yeah, I’ll be shocked if he’s a Tiger on August 2nd.
  18. Not sure—beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Dombrowski was skilled at moving prospects that other teams seemed to value enough to give up a good player in return. And we’re not barren—I would think Malloy, Meadows, Flores, Madden, Jobe and Jung have value. And I agree that Keith should be available in the right deal. I just would like us to be open to taking advantage of the market to improve our offense. If we just want to be sellers, that excludes opportunities with teams who are also selling.
  19. We should be buying if anyone values any of our prospects not named Colt Keith. And selling if we can get some good prospects for ERod or Lorenzen. There doesn’t have to be only one pathway.
  20. Let’s aim higher. We need an impact bat or two for this lineup. 3B is one position that we could potentially solve that.
  21. Workman should get a refund from his offseason hitting coach. Or hire Carpenter’s next time.
  22. Right. He’s likely opting out no matter what, but it won’t prevent him from re-signing with us. It’s leverage to negotiate a better contract.
  23. Just give him whatever is left over.
