  1. I would trade prospects in a heartbeat, but not for middling players or rentals. Jobe, Jung and Meadows for Nolan Arenado? Hell yes.
  2. Think scouts discount ERod and Lorenzen’s strong performance against the Royals when evaluating them for a potential trade? Of course they have a track record, but I suspect scouts are paying closer attention right now.
  3. Since he's on the 40-man, I suspect he'll get a call in September, if not sooner. Agree he needs to be challenged at the big league level at some point this season.
  4. Baez pulls a Tork and scoops a bad throw, and says, “that’s what that feels like”
  5. Isn’t that like comparing Herpes to Syphilis?
  6. I’m convinced that Avila was fired as a scapegoat. In a world of accountability, it was probably deserved, but the breaking point was in the midst of a season where the team underachieved, relative to 2021, due mostly to injuries and some bad luck, the natives got extra restless. If you can recall, neither Chris nor Al played any role in Sweet Lou’s number retirement ceremony because they were concerned (rightfully) that the fans would turn on them. I think Chris decided enough was enough and gave him up. He was fired right after that. Not saying that Al was the victim in this—the fan frustration and some vitriol was warranted. But he wasn’t a complete disaster, either.
  7. He needs the Duffy Dyer treatment--catch twice a week at the most. No other positions, no more AB's than giving Jake an occasional rest.
  8. it's basically how we were able to draft and sign guys like Castellanos and Porcello, when we were drafting later. Mike I and Dombrowski were willing to throw their money around to snag players like this. Kind of like the old pre-salary cap hockey days when the Wings would go and pay to get anyone they wanted to.
  9. This is right. Of course, Javy is being compared to his past success and we are disappointed that his performance isn’t up to those standards. The bigger problem is 1/3 of your lineup is hitting around .200. I firmly believe if we can acquire two established hitters this deadline and/or offseason to provide protection for Javy, Tork, Greene, etc. this lineup can turn around quickly. Austin Meadows could have been one of those, but we can’t count on that.
  10. I think the Cardinals are an interesting trade partner. They have a glut of underperforming young OF and we have the same with pitching. We could use another OF. They need controllable starters (not rentals like Lorenzen or ERod). The other interesting move would be to go after Arenado, if they make him available for prospects. Great bat and glove who could provide lineup protection for Greene and Tork and leadership for a very young team. He’s getting older and still is expensive, so that might make him more attainable.
  11. he was great in "Remember the Titans"
  12. is this speculative or being reported? If Turnbull can return around that time, the front office might be more open to trading both ERod and Lorenzen, if the opportunities present themselves.
  13. didn't he lead the team in dingers a few years back?
  14. Throw in Jobe (too soon?)
  15. Was he airing it out because he knew he was only pitching an inning, or was it related to his arm injury and recovery?
  16. As things stand now, we likely will need another free agent starter in 2024, to go along with Skubal, Mize, Manning and Turnbull. I’d prefer him on a 2-year, but agree that he should hold up if a 3rd year is required.
