  1. Didn’t we pass on Semien because we wouldn’t go an extra year? Wish we could have that decision back.
  2. Not when there aren’t any decent options. The few will be overpaid and get too many years. Absent of reasonable upgrades, Im good with Keith and JHM getting PT. I am in support of going after a Tatis or Soto via trade.
  3. the argument that since we have a low payroll, we should spend in free agency to address our offense, is stupid. Having said that, this is definitely Al Avila’s team, with the exception of Vierling, Holton and JHM. Curious how comfortable Harris will be with a team that has the potential to get much better with a core that he inherited. It’s a different situation than Dombrowski, who inherited bad contracts and a barren farm system.
  4. Tigers fans who haven’t sniffed the playoffs in years: “Season is way too long”
  5. I can confidently say that I could not have come up with any of those.
  6. Pretty big pay discrepancy between Mario and Rod, if that report is accurate. Basically doing the same job, the same amount of time. I guess it’s more difficult to find a good PBP than an ex-player to do color—those guys are plentiful.
  7. The fact that Kershaw is their ace should tell a lot about the Dodgers chances this postseason. Buehler’s TJ surgery and Urias being a douche really hurt this team. ERod would have helped a lot.
  8. I could see them offering him some sort of non-playing role, if he feels his playing days are over. I suspect they will do right by him, though it won’t be a roster spot.
  9. Do we really want Cronenworth at either 1B (replaces Tork), 2B (blocks Keith) or 3B (blocks Jung)? I don’t. Now ask me if I want Soto or Tatis over Carpenter?
  10. No reason to make a public call on CMo or anyone else. They can shuffle them throughout the pre- and post-game shows, basically marginalizing whomever they want to.
  11. Kind of boring, though I agree that they shouldn’t do anything over the top or cheesy (which I have very little confidence they will execute well). Personally, I’d like to see something around Motown or the Motor City, leaning into what we’re known for. I wouldn’t be shocked if they try to do something that appeals to the youth market, while missing wildly.
  12. There are plenty of PBP candidates out there. Mario would be the safe pick, but perhaps not the best.
  13. Wow. From a no-hitter to this? He just needs some more Fettering.
  14. I’d like him back, but not sure about redemption. If any of us had co-workers who were in a fistfight, or some other physical altercation, they would like be dismissed, too. And not hired back.
  15. I really don’t want middling guys. Get a superstar or let the kids play. I’d rather Keith get the PT, instead of someone like Cronenworth. At some point, both Keith and Jung should be up.
  16. Agree. I feel bad for the guy, but this was the right decision. He’ll get a gig on local sports talk radio.
  17. I like Johnny Kane. I don’t want to, cause he’s a pretty boy, frat guy, but I find him likable and skilled at doing the lighter, human interest stuff. He’s the very least of our problems.
  18. If you’ve ever listened to his podcast, you would say hard pass. Very sugary and optimistic—that would wear thin fast. The Masters thing was funny, though.
  19. Dirks is the best of all of the ex-players
  20. things are getting testy here. Timeouts for all of you--and remember, we need to fight the real villain
  21. he also manages group tickets sales and wears the mascot costume for home games.
  22. agree. any player moves that Harris makes are icing on the cake. We've already won the offseason.
  23. He was no Danny Meyer. Or Rick Leach.
  24. Bigbie and Malloy with some accolades. Interestingly, Keith was excluded.
