Bone on bone is truly uncompromising.Maybe less weight helps a little. That and powerless arm swinging. So what's the wager with Miggy in 2023 ? How about which statistic is higher OBP or Slugging ? Is this even possible ?
Maybe Harris is considering left handed hitting first baseman or catcher. I think he will add players with platooning in mind. If so Candy could be retained.Swap out both Castros and Reyes for better platoon players that can actually hit. Ease Tork into MLB and have a back up in case he flops. No stars added but a deeper bench at least for 2023.
I think Harris will sign or trade for someone that can play third or first base. We will soon know with the roster crunch of the 15th looming if thats Candelerio or someone else.
Reminds me of the story of golfer Lee Trevino pointing out a beautiful woman and remarking “ incredible that someone is tired of blanking that beauty”
or did I miss your point 😊
Detroit is an excellent destination for any player. Climate is a non factor since they play in the summer and can have their permanent residence anywhere. We’re only talking 81 home dates so why do you have to move the family for that. Yes it’s over 5 months but so are road games. The fans are supportive and travel from Detroit is easier than cross country trips.
Just fix the fences to end the mostly unproven negative association and pay competitive salaries.
Pay them they will come.
Greenberg, Cobb, Kaline, Horton
Greenberg with the most visible spot (Washington's). He lost 5 prime years to WW2 and re-upped TWICE. Horton because he is Detroit.
I think last years negotiating period being shorter his market didn't have the time to build momentum like it can this year but that could be meaningless and you make a great point with Houston winning without him.
Last years free agency for Correa was messed up with the shutdown. He wanted 10 / 350 to beat Linder as the board has noted. He got 35 to defer to another year so he’s still looking for the remaining 9/ 315 and will probably start with 10/ 350 to get that. If Detroit wants Correa they have to have minimum 9/315 in their pocket AND wait late in the market to present it. Like spring training is starting next week late. Too early and Boras will shop it for better and get better. Having Baez allows us to wait in the blind and strike late.
So based on some recent reading it seems Arizona and Milwaukee both need bullpen arms this off season. Since this is our only position of depth Do they have any players we need and can obtain for our relievers ?
I think catcher is priority number one. Trade for someone solid defensively and can hit at lest some. Better to have consistency behind the plate for our pitchers. Good teams have that. 68 Feehan 84 Parrish etc. Houston has Malandano. St Lou Molina. Great Yankee teams Posada.
it’s really important. Musical chairs 🪑 won’t cut it. Someone here showed Haase can’t catch Langes curveball so he can’t catch good stuff.
It seems developing player’s requires patience especially for hitters. Pitchers arms might have a shelf life so promoting them faster is valid. But hitting takes longer. I think Tork Greene and Kriedler were all rushed especially considering the lost time to Covid. I think that will change under Harris.
