  1. Call Seattle and offer Soto Jimenez and Haas for Hancock and Klenic. Would that be possible? Or just Soto for Klenic ?
  2. Seems that way. A version of DD “You play these guys “
  3. Why did they bring up Badoo if not to play him most days ? Maybe a disconnect between Al and Hinch like Money ball ? “ Pena is playing first base “.
  4. Agree with trading relievers who have big yearly turnover anyway. Plus Fetter might be an asset we can use to develop more. He seems solid. Converting starters is the ticket it seems? Next up Feado. His slider could play as reliever. Probably others.
  5. Yes I think your right and you are way more skilled at talent evaluation than me but when evaluating the trade of Paredes + good draft pick for Meadows you have to keep in mind the return/value for dollar/salary spent. That is the Tampa way and why it is different than many teams especially Detroit. The money saved can be put to use for another asset. Maybe parades was just a two week flash but I don't think so and time will tell, I do know his 1.5 war tops all Tigers. Personally I think Al Aviia and Chris Illitch cornered themselves with the "rebuild is over statement" and when Riley broke his foot Tampa took advantage to get a promising young player that fit their evaluation profile + a pretty high draft pick AND unload an expensive declining player to pad their budget. My guess is they spend that $$ at this years deadline. Look I hope Meadows comes back next year and hits the 25 to 30 homers required to justify his salary and poor defense but I think we are stuck with "Robbie Grossman plus" for what 6 mil in 2023 and if the Tigers think he will fix the middle of our order we will be back in the same soup we are in now. Al sure will want to justify his trade like he did overplaying Demerite, Lugo, Willie Castro etc.
  6. I respectfully disagree. It was a bad trade. Meadows is declining on both sides of the ball while his salary rises. Parades over time will prove greater value per salary cost and losing that draft pick knowing you already forfeited the third rounder was reckless. Paredas knows the strike zone and now has found his power which is why the Rays have always wanted him. I would rather have him and the draft pick PLUS the money going into 2023. Play him at third and DFA Candy then invest Candy’s 7 mil + Meadows 5 mil into the free agent market. And another high draft pick in the system.
  7. Yes it seems the biggest miscalculation was declaring the rebuild over and pushing Tork and trading Paredas etc instead of just starting the season with the new free agents , holding our minor league position players and bringing them up slowly when ready. Maybe Al was feeling the heat to end the suck and now it’s double suck. But no matter he’s still the boss.
  8. I am very concerned about Tork. Too many times he would swing and miss and Dan Dickerson would say something to the effect of “ wow that was a middle middle cookie “ It seems he stayed in the zone and just wiffed. Often.
  9. Mize Faedo Tork all first rounders and two are 1-1 with doubtful futures including Mize before the injury and we ranked for two of them and Al still has his job ? Where in the world is that level of incompetence tolerated in a position of power. Besides the White House that is decade after decade.
  10. Your point is well taken and a very good one that will probably win the day but I do not trust him not repeating this years performance and I sure as heck do not want to invest in him as a free agent at those price points so I cut bait sooner than later. Too bad we don’t have Paredes to fill the space at a very low cost.
  11. If we can trade Candy for anything then do it. That’s 10 million to spend next year. That the return if they actually reinvest it.
  12. Skubal on the block is not surprising but I wonder if it means Al's influence has diminished or the organization has actually finally recognized that starting pitching should not be the foundation to build your team on. This could be a result of finally accepting that "never 3 timed through the batting order" mantra is here to stay, or the new Dodger personnel on board, or just how the team has patched through the injuries this year. But if true this is a good development and especially so if Al does not get replaced as he should. As the deadline nears more young arm will be "made available' because this is the media's time to get clicks and any well run organization should have all assets available at all times anyway for the right return. I agree with Chas the very little will actually transpire for us this deadline but the change in philosophy could be a big step to finally getting it right which would be accelerated with a much better GM who knew this five years ago.
  13. Ha.Ha......"The Great Leap Forward" - Chairman Al Avila
  14. I thought he would finish the year in AAA. What do you think about Tork ? Do you think he will return to Detroit this season?
  15. Yes it’s emotion but don’t you think it’s a bit silly to think we can trade him for anything of value ?
  16. G2 and others have also mentioned this point. It’s very astute and quite possible.
  17. Which is why we should trade him...quickly.
  18. It has to be attributed to an absentee owner, weak press and media core and too many folks at the ballpark.
  19. Grossman seems very disengaged. The Tigers gave him his first multi year contract and he did have a super 2021 so he earned it but his comments about hitting in Comerica recently combined with slow motion outfield play and poor hitting are hard to take. I would cut him before tomorrows game and bring up...anybody else.
  20. Six years of rebuilding nets us this team and they don't house clean then they really do not care about the Team, the Fans, the city of Detroit or their own self pride.
  21. Candy DFA. Another player Al held on too long. He led the league in doubles last year. Good time to trade. Better one year early than one year late. See Boyd Fullmer. Rising salary + slow inconsistent growth in early years then breakout means selling high.
  22. Ya I watched it too in the 7th inning under stress with runners on and the crowd yelling and he just let it go and got out of it. In hindsight he could have been the cornerstone of our rebuild. Unreal. 39 and blowing 99 at 90 pitches in.
  23. If Jung is already #2 he must be a stud and hard to believe he was available at #12 in the draft. If Dingler is only 11 then "that rose ain't bloomin." Kreidler not even on the list means what I watched in spring training was a mirage because even a bench MLB player should rate in your top ten shouldn't it ? I agree Santana should be top 10 unless the Henning's are once again blown smoke you know where.
  24. So most folks want Miggy for 2023. What if his line is .260 .290 .310 do you still want him ? And Meadows is playing crap defense in the outfield to accommodate him at DH. And Hinch doesn’t have the guts to bat him 8th. And his legacy as a great HOF player is tarnished. Still want him ? I sure as heck hope this doesn’t happen but I think we should get ahead of it so we have the off-season to shop and trade for something much much better. He has his 500 home runs his 600 doubles and his 3000 hits everything else is not really a mile stone marker. he’s made his case for the Hall of Fame and then some .time to move on people otherwise are we really serious about winning?
