  1. I am by no means saying that Willie Castro is a major leaguer better than the 2021 Badu or even potentially fourth outfielder Reyes but what I am saying is if there is a place to play him on the field it seems to be right field in right field only but it is improvement for him
  2. I have been very down on Willie Castro defensively. Harsh even but he looks not too bad in right field and his arm plays. I would be interested if anyone else agrees ?
  3. Best win apart from opening day.
  4. Hunch’s comment about him being safe is both curious and perhaps a hint. Maybe a divorce or marital issues led to mental issues or even suicidal thoughts which would result in him being paid and safe.
  5. Our rebuild would have been better extending Verlander than trading him. Al traded a first ballot hall of famer for trash and sent them $$$. Think about that. How does he still have a job ?
  6. Thanks Al for yet another trade deadline sell off. Well done. Mission accomplished. Rebuild over. Not. Soon we will hear the long and repeated list of bad luck...injuries...bad luck etc. 2017 Tigers worst record and Giants second worst. We loose 90 plus and the Giants win 100 last year and headed for 90 this year. I don’t know but guessing their payroll is lower than ours also. But have no fear the rebuild is over.
  7. I have been teetering on the fence until this year when it became clear even for me and my eternally optimistic hope that Al has no clue and Chris has no 🏀 ⚾️⚾️ To effect real change.
  8. Actually we all lose because our beloved Tigers suffer for the mismanagement. We need change at the top. Maybe the very top but in lieu of that at least have our players, good and bad, on the field.
  9. Great article in the athletic today talking about the fact that in 2017 the Tigers and Giants had basically identical losing records and drafted one two in the next year‘s amateur draft. The Tigers took the traditional route of loose and pick low where the Giants found undervalued talent both in the minors and the draft and at the major league level in developing their rosters. Fast forward today the Giants are on their second consecutive year of winning big and the Tigers continue to lose big. The article points out again the Tigers lack of creativity with roster management and how younger more thoughtful GM’s value talent using a whole different metric.
  10. I had reservations because it was Tampa Bay and said they would unlock his talents. I also was hopeful Meadows would be the last piece to get up in the playoffs so I was hoping for the best. The fact he looks so much better now is good for him but reflects poorly on the Tigers. And his 100 abs in 2020 during covid as a 21 year old is not an extended look in my opinion. That whole year throughout baseball was bad information with Willie Castro hitting case in point.
  11. Mine is already sharpened and dipped in arsenic to boot. 😎
  12. I choose incompetent. I am sick of myself talking about Esock but why didn’t they give him a decent run.
  13. two in a row. I am so sick. Win two straight and I am looking at the standings. Hopeless.
  14. Great that he is hitting but even better if he keeps his errors down also. I do think the better the Tigers get he will also play better. I think he likes pressure and the spotlight but we need to contend for that to happen.
  15. True but give Reyes 200 abs before deciding not 40. Find out for sure as much as possible before moving on
  16. Paredas 5 HR’s and 8 rbi last 12 abs with walk off hit. First Ray to 10 homers.
  17. El Mago in the house. Welcome back and nice to see you again.
  18. I would like to see Tork more aggressive ad well. Too much strike zone management with Coolbaugh and not enough organic baseball instincts. Grip and rip.
  19. Cashman got Trevino. Low salary and solid production and very good defender which does not cost 7.5 mil.
  20. Yes the play of the game and a catch he makes in his sleep 😴
  21. Which has to be a concern for us fans about the development and Al. I mean you and many board members really know the game but even to me if someone had a good understanding of the strike zone and does well in the minors at a younger age than other players and fields ok with good glove and decent arm how can you not give them at least one solid run ? Tampa has him as an everyday platoon so he knows when he will play and if he does well they will probably try him everyday. Gradually giving him playing time on a consistent basis and expanding per his production. They got Meadows when he was young and moved him when the cost per production increased. Textbook player evaluation and roster management. I’m jealous of their FO.
  22. Maybe so but 8 homers and some power does sound good. And so cheap plus a draft pick and Meadows money to invest. Also for 2023 Miggy will be blocking Meadows best position DH.
  23. Totally agree. Weird thing is he showed good on base and strike zone judgment to his detriment per Hinch and no power. Now as a Ray it’s the opposite showing power, 8 homers in 60 some abs or so, and low avg and walk rate. Now is that a coincidence or different coaching philosophy? Maybe Hinch and Coolburger over emphasize pitch selection. G2 mentioned this about “zone hunting “ or some such nonsense.
  24. Candy also.....still feel bad 😞
