  1. as "mid" as the tigers are, take a moment and laugh at how historically bad the chicago white sox are right now. theyre down 13-1 and about to lose their 14th straight game.
  2. cant imagine he'll het past calgary at 9. wings lack elite skill players in their system. its the one thing they lack and also the one thing that's hardest to find. not sure if iginla fits that bill, eiserman has elite scoring skill, but lacks drive and defensive responsibilty. i doubt either of them are there. michael hage was brought up on wwp today. nygard screams yzerman pick. jack of all trades, elite master of none, hard worker, responsible, plays in sweden.
  3. eiserman might be mantha 2.0.
  4. i dont see any big push for an nhl team in milwaukee.
  5. football will break off. form their own group. the ratings this year are going to be bonkers. michigan texas? usc michigan? ohio state oregon? texas texas am? oklahoma alabama? theyre going to want a full slate of that. no more clemson north carolina bull****. two 20 team divisions, just like the nfl.
  6. i dont think the wings should give up the farm for him. i would trade kasper. i wouldnt trade danielson. and if they are stocked at center, they probably want sandin pelikka and picks.
  7. yeah, why would the ship off a young player like that just coming into his prime? they have no cap concerns. he's young enough to be on their timeline for success. sounds fishy to me.
  8. probably, but then you have to pay him, raymond, and seider. he'd be on the same "time line" as those other two. that's your core (plus debrincat, i guess). can you win with that core? the wings are going to be a little short on space this year, but things open up nicely next year.
  9. SLC is a fast growing market and the only other competition is the Jazz. no football and no baseball. these are the types of markets where hockey will thrive. places like raleigh. that being said, i cant see how they avoid going back to houston or atlanta. houston is massive and is soon to be the 3rd largest market in the country when i passes chicago. atlanta has changed demographically with so many transplants from the north. soccer is thriving there now. there will likely be the same appetite for hockey. just depends on whether the league wants to take a risk to get burned 3 times.
  10. the way the courts are moving, a guy will be able to play one half for one team, then get a better offer and go over and play for the other team in the second half. they need binding contracts. theyve allowed it to become professional sports so it needs professional rules. and a body/commissioner who will actually look out for the interests of the game.
  11. utah already has 34k people making deposits for season tickets. meanwhile winnipeg struggles to get 10k.
  12. then take him at 5.
  13. well, his hands are made of stone so if he punched a glass door i'm sure it would break...
  14. nobody gives a **** about women's basketball if caitlyn clark isnt involved.
  15. cu-nebraska will play no role in shaping the 2024 season to anyone other than former colorado quarterback joel klatt.
  16. to tandem with cossa? augustine to stay at msu or go to toledo?
  17. it is if you have a good management team in place. see the cubs and the astros. its not if you dont have a good management team in place. see the detroit ****ing tigers, or the pirates, or the white sox (but the sox rebuild has been more successful than detroit's, which is the definition of damning with faint praise). or, we could be the rays and just keep on keeping on. people used to talk that way about the cardinals too. not so much anymore. but to your point, baseball drafts are such crapshoots that tanking in baseball is probably less of a sound strategy than in other sports. i thought the tigers should have sold verlander, martinez, etc when they did. but what i failed to realize at the time was that al avila was incompetent. fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice....wont get fooled again!
  18. hurts to lose a second round pick but it was obvious he didnt have it. bednar had been playing well, i thought. interesting that they didnt sign him.
  19. #1 overall picks for the last 10 years: brady aiken dansby swanson mikey moniak royce lewis casey mize adley rutchsman tork! henry davis jackson holliday paul skenes not a ton of superstars in that mix....yet.
  20. for the first time in a while i'm sort of excited to see what they do this offseason.
  21. i think teams do this a lot more than we think, especially in a sport like baseball that drafts so many players. teams do favors for agents all the time. basketball is notorious for it. did they know NOTHING about skubal? i doubt it. but boras might have nudged them in that direction.
  22. i find it hard to believe wcf was that involved with the team and drafts. you never heard about him being involved except this one time. i think its millen putting stories in the press to make excuses for himself.
  23. its a different game now. they cant handcheck and play defense. if they were playing with 2004 rules, maybe the pistons do fine. but in 2017 rules? they probably get waxed like everyone else unless the warriors get hurt.
