i could go on...jacksonville just gave up 31 to cleveland's third string qb...the vikings scored 3 points on vegas and have nick mullens starting and JJ hurt again... but im a lions pessimist so this is just water finding its level, imo. -

JEIII with the usual "things need time to gel" article today. which almost all of predicted would be the next article (they havent had time to play together because of injuries) but couched in the "dont make a panic move and trade for kuzma or lavine" mantra. which i agree with. i dont want either of those guys. but if he's writing: "Assuming Detroit doesn’t suddenly turn a month’s worth of losing into the alternative over the next five days, it’s my understanding that the Pistons could be active in the trade market in the coming weeks." that means he's heard the front office is looking to make a deal. which is scary considering this front office's track record. i dont have a freep or detnews account so i cant read their beat writers articles. and there's no point in reading keith langlois because he works for the team. btw, the comments to those articles are pretty funny lately with them all calling out JEIII for being a weaver shill. especially today with the "you wrote the same **** about josh jackson" back in the day that you write now about livers. he's turned a corner in practice! lol. -

things were not as good as it seemed when they were winning and its not as bad as it seems when theyre losing. its the nfl, its a week to week league. houston just lost to the jets by three touchdowns. the niners lost three ganes in a row. the eagles have been blown out two straight weeks. with that said, the lions were never a SB contender, imo. theyre in that happy middle, but towards the top of the middle. 10-11 wins is a good season for where they are. they still need jamo to develop into a star receiver and to get some - ANY - pass rush. this team is going to look very different next year. the okwara brothers will be gone. charles harris will be gone. tracy walker is trending to be gone. they'll need new safeties. they'll need at least one cornerback. maybe 3. and what do you do with goff? to me you dont do anything and you let goff play out next season and hope hooker develops into a viable alternative for 2025. i wouldnt sign goff long term unless hooker shows you nothing. then i would re-sign goff. how long can ragnow play with his foot injuries? do you splash for jonah jackson? how many DEs do you sign? part of me hopes they sign chase young so tater can have something to talk about for next season. 😉 -

multiple people in multiple lions threads on this site have either outright written as much, or implied as much numerous times. i said 10 wins. now i think they'll win 11. -

i think they'll beat the broncos and the vikings at home. i give them a really good chance of beating the vikings on the road too. i think the vikings may not win another game. -
people who say they like bailey over loni anderson are just trying to sound cool. wkrp hipsters. loni anderson is much better looking than bailey. its not even close. lol.

have you seen the rest of the division?

if the lions win more than 10 games this season will be a success, imo. all this talk of them being better than san fran or philly was just wishcasting. the nfl is a week to week league. the lions need to get their act together and win a couple more games and win the division. that will be a great success considering the lack of talent this team has on defense. last week you were all gushing over jared goff. still feeling that way now? lol. -

he's not wrong. they "could potentially recoup" the pick. if they dont sign anyone else in free agency and young signs for a significant amount of money. like we said here. but you saying the lions will get that pick back if/when young leaves is not true. they MIGHT get it if a number of other things happen. and if they did, i would wait for your offseason posts criticizing the lions for not addressing needs in free agency. remember holmes' first year when he let golladay and every other lions free agent leave and signed basically no one. the lions got a ton of comp picks out of it. i'd rather have them sign some cornerback depth (if it exists this year). the biggest thing about chase young is that he just isnt that good anymore. if draft status meant anything four years into a deal, james wiseman and marvin bagley would be great players. zach wilson too. young got injured and just never developed because of it. -

JEIII today: "It would be irresponsible not to mention that the Magic did have a kick-start to their rebuild. Trading Nikola Vucevic to the Bulls in 2021 allowed Orlando to land solid young big man Wendell Carter Jr. and two first-round picks, one of which became top-10 pick Franz Wagner, who has been one of the organization’s pillars alongside Paolo Banchero. You need as many bites of the apple as you can get when rebuilding, and Orlando made good use of its extra opportunity. When the Pistons began their rebuild, their three “franchise” players — Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson — brought Detroit nothing but expiring contracts, second-round picks and dead money. The Pistons started their rebuild from zero. Even with the lack of assets and extra lottery picks at their disposal, the Pistons losing by 30-plus points to the Magic, a year after they were in the same boat, for their 19th straight defeat signals something deeper. Detroit is beyond being in a funk. This almost feels permanent. Too much losing in a short amount of time does no one any good. With that said, I’m sure Magic fans felt the same way when their team was 5-20 amid a 9-game losing skid this time last season. Things can change, I guess. Anything is possible." the way he carries water for troy weaver is amazing. the pistons have had MORE first round picks than the magic during this "rebuild." and after carrying water for saddiq bey for three years he never mentions that the wiseman trade just might be a mistake. i mean, come on. if youre a beat writer who is just there to provide a game report and a quote after the game, cool. but if youre supposed to be a commentary guy too, at least provide some meaningful criticism of the team and not this ass kissing bull****. the narrative has gone from injuries back to "the cupboard was bare when he got here." anything to keep from actually saying weaver has failed to do his job in the most spectacular way possible. all the blogs and publications that dont need access have said it, all the beat writers who are around the team every day refuse to. and they wonder why fans dont read newspapers anymore. -
