i read the mgoblog analysis: nothingburger. (nobody tell bonghit)
-
he could say he's doing great, like he does with most other players. the fact that he does not stands out.
-
remember when harbaugh led off a big ten press conference by saying ohio state was doing illegal practicing (or something like that) and ryan day through a fit? well, ryan day just threw it back in harbaugh's face. the difference is the ncaa hates harbaugh and will make michigan pay for it.
-
im buying it, i just think its a common thing. but they got caught because michigan is good again and people are pissed about it. the ncaa hates harbaugh and loves to make an example out of michigan. so be ready for vacated wins and championships plus bowl bans. so it really means harbaugh will go back to the nfl. hope they win it next year because the ncaa is going to come down on michigan like a ton of bricks.

i would have drafted rueben foster too, fwiw.

there have been constant backhanded admonitions from campbell and others for two years that he needs to put in the work. that's character.
-
i agree on jamo. receivers sometimes take a while to develop, but he is not good right now. he's borderline unplayable and is a one trick deep route/gadget play pony. for a team that supposedly values character so much - so much so that they passed on a generational defender - they sure missed on jamo. it happens. if he isnt any good next year it'll be time to cut bait and move on.

Week Seven: Detroit Lions (5-1) @ Baltimore Ravens (4-2)

goff was total garbage yesterday. a windy day and he threw a bunch of ducks. he went back to turning his back whenever pressure came. he either wasnt seeing it pre-snap or the ravens just beat the lions oline. or both. everyone on offense was crap yesterday from dan campbell to ben johnson to jared goff to even amon ra dropping passing. jamo looks lost. running bad routes. dropping balls. not fighting for it. his weapon is deep speed and if goff cant the ball to him because it was too windy, then that's off the board. so far he's a bust. the vaunted oline was ****. couldnt block anyone. the defense was garbage other than hutchinson who was held most of the game. jack campbell? oy vey. and he played a ton. where's rodrigo? they missed jerry jacobs but it probably didnt matter, the ravens won by winning the line of scrimmage on both sides. hey, they got hamblasted by carolina last year too. but this time they dont have the "it was cold and we didnt have our sneakers" defense. they can bounce back from this. hopefully. but as all of us are saying, they dont have playmakers on defense other than hutch. they lost gardner-johnson and that's really hurting them, imo. -

to the bears undrafted free agent qb. (granted they started brian hoyer but still...) -
i took the pistons over. sweating that bet. i'll stick to my guns and say 30 wins. cade averages 20-6-6 but the 3 point woes persist. ivey busts out on offense, still cant defend anyone, and is a major trade candidate because he and cade get in each other's way on offense. ausar stuffs the stat sheet and has some highlight plays, but cant shoot. 65% from the line and 22% from 3. sasser doesnt see much time because the backcourt is crowded. killian settles into the second team and plays well, but not enough to get his option picked up. bogey doesnt get traded but harris does (for a couple seconds). wiseman still sucks and is out of the league in two years. weaver enters next season on the hot seat. ivey is seen as a major trade candidate but sticks around as we try to recreate jalen brown/jason tatum. we deal our pick on draft night in a move for a....wait for it...big man who can spread the floor. next season is playoffs or bust.

their underlying numbers are middle of the pack so i expect them to cool down. however, the way theyre playing is different. as has been noted they look more physical up front and more composed at the back. the east is so stacked that they'll be in a tough fight and i still think they might come up short, but this is a better start to the season than almost anyone imagined. its nice to see it.
-
pre-season got me really excited about danielson. i honestly think he could have made the team out of training camp, that's how good he looked. if he puts on some weight i think he really could be the next jonathan toews. i feel like 84 lives with optimism.

michigan state had more pictures of hitler than points is a tweet that will last forever.
-
i dont think the hitler picture is a huge deal. it was a trivia question, for goodness sake. its just fun to laugh at sparty. their overreaction at spygate ("we need to worry about the health and safety of our players"), makes them ripe for trolling.

you're talking to the president of the draft jalen carter society, so i definitely understand. i love brad holmes, but he's not infallible. nobody is. and not taking jalen carter is a mistake that will haunt this franchise for a long time. and i like gibbs! but carter is a game changer at one of the hardest positions to fill in football. gibbs is a good third down back option. instead we TRADED UP to take brodric martin in round 3. a project who hasnt even seen the field yet.

as much as i'd like to believe, the raiders and broncos are not trading their best players. i'd be stunned. you dont give up young talent at premium positions.

when lamar plays like that, its hard to beat baltimore. -
that was fast.
-
it was one game. they'll be ok. but to compete against the best in the playoffs they need playmakers. they dont have enough right now.

when did i say that? but if youre going to lose, its better to lose to an afc team. tie breakers are division and conference record.
