according to srs, this was michigan's seventh best team of all time. behind the mad magicians, a few 1940s teams, and bo's 1973 squad.
1997 ranks 29th, btw. sandwiched in between the 2021 and 2022 teams.
how lucky was this team that the raptors decided to trade their best player the day before they played detroit?
if they dont make that trade on that day - so they wouldnt have barrett and quickley in the lineup - the pistons are probably looking at 35 straight losses right now instead of 6.
lyles isnt even very good, but he's more of the "theoretical" stretch player they need at that position. lyles shoots 36-40% from 3. bagley never shoots 3s and clogs the lane without doing anything you need from a player like that (rolling to the basket on pnrs, playing defense, blocking shots).
another "big man" weaver acquired based on draft pedigree and the fact that he's tall rather than actual ability or fit with his franchise cornerstone.
isnt bagley hurt? if not, there is no reason why wiseman is playing over him.
if he IS hurt, that's also not a surprise because he has always been hurt.
either way, its another trade that has not worked put for detroit. because troy weaver is bad at his job.
every now and then i think the bears will do something smart and then they continue to remind me that they are still owned by the mccaskeys.
the bears not getting harbaugh is a wonderful thing.
the value of this asset has increased exponentially for gores. no way they sell it unless they need cash immediately.
btw, someone should interview his brother about why he left their original company. the media is so weak nowadays.
two things can be true:
sean mcvay is a really good coach.
sean mcvay and jared goff's relationship didnt work well enough and at least part of that is sean mcvay's fault.
i'm not saying stafford is THE reason they won the super bowl, but they did win the super bowl. and i do think he played a big part in that. thus, the matt stafford trade was a success for the rams.
i agree the titans are devoid of talent.
i also think nfl teams can get talented in a hurry. ask houston.
tennessee's problem is that they have tied themselves to will levis.
no one is saying goff sucks. all i'm saying is that the rams did very well with that trade and then drafted very well deapite trading two picks to the lions.
and "one additional game" kind of undersells it a bit. 🙂
they won the super bowl with stafford. both teams benefitted from the trade. it doesnt have to be "my team won hahaha you suck."
its ok that stafford is still a good qb. you can be a lions fan and admit it. and the rams have rebounded nicely in the draft. kyren williams and puka nacua had better seasons than jahmyr gibbs and jameson williams.
brad holmes learned well and is doing a fabulous job. its no shame to say that the place where he honed his craft is also still a good front office.
hopefully goff and the lions outplay stafford on sunday.
