if harbaugh wants michigan to lead the fight in preserving the old status quo, then he should leave. any such fight will not be successful and will do nothing more than make michigan fall further behind on the recruiting and acquisition of talent. but i also think this is another reason why he is leaving. his vision of what michigan is (and was) was always a little....aspirational, imo. but any such idea that michigan football was tied into michigan academics is now completely gone. the players are mercenaries, not students. much moreso than they ever were before. i think harbaugh doesnt like that and will use it as a reason why he ultimately chose to leave now.

Week Eighteen: Detroit Lions (8-8) @ Green Bay Packers (8-8)

initially i think it was. -
i think its BS. i think they put him through waivers because he's not ready to come back and they dont think anyone will take his salary. this will come as no surprise, but i imagine there is a lot more to his personal leave of absence than we know about.

a tweet like that from bacon tells me that he's 100% gone. just a matter of where.

his head injury that was so bad he played two weeks later. and all the people on twitter forgot about. until he was ruled out again and the OUTRAGE MACHINE began anew. -
there are twitter rumors that the gms may have come to an agreement that no one would take him so he can continue to work on his issues. not sure i believe that.
-
they must assume no one will take his salary.

harbaugh is a unicorn. a guy who has been very successful at both the college and pro levels. his name will be mentioned every year until he retires or stops being successful. id rather have him at michigan continuing to be successful every year and deal with the rumors. with that said, i think he's gone. he was actively looking last year and almost got a job, then he came back and doubled down on his college success which only made him MORE marketable in the pros. so i think the odds of him leaving are 75%. denver is a good organization. he has ties to indy. he's reportedly talked to carolina's owner already. all signs point to him leaving and michigan starting over. which is too bad because next year's team is loaded.

so you want to cancel the thanksgiving day games too? -
i imagine he will have legit nfl opportunities this time around if he wants them. he's the best candidate on the market right now.

the lions "earned" a primetime game by being the packers' opponent in a game the packers have to win to make the playoffs. 😉 -

i would be STUNNED if the seahawks lose at home to the rams. the rams have nothing to play for, its on the road, and the seahawks are a better team right now with all the rams' injuries. i give the rams a 10% chance to win at best. knowing the lions' luck, seattle will losr and then the lions will lose to the packers, giving us no playoffs and a worse draft pick because...its the lions. -

fields isnt a very good passing qb if you havent noticed. he's great at making things happen with his legs, not his head. -

he was hurt in week one and played like he was hurt for multiple weeks. the last two or three weeks he's been back to being what we thought he was going to be, but for a very large part of the season he was being used very sparingly and was not playing like he is capable of playing. they basically had him playing less than 1/3 of the snaps for a good portion of the season. he's the best offensive weapon they have when he is healthy and playing hard. but he hasnt been that way for most of the season. contrast him with williams who has been starting and getting the most snaps all season. they need swift badly, but he wasnt fully there for 2/3 of the season. -
take the next athletic freak at cornerback instead. hell, take two of them.

no running back at 6!!!!!! no no no no NO!

if deshaun watson looked like jerry jones, lebron james would be protesting the browns. but he looks like lebron, so lebron doesnt care.

this was a great win, but that bears team is the least talented team in the league. they are god awful. they have three rookies starting in the secondary, have their thirs string linebackers in, and their dline is atrocious having trades quinn and mack. theyre a borderline usfl team. on offense their oline is absolute garbage and their one decent lineman got hurt on the first series (tevin jenkins, who they drafted to play left tackle but who has already been busted down to guard because he was so bad at tackle. instead they start a 5th round rookie at left tackle and reilly reiff at right tackle.) and even with the worst line in the league, alex leatherwood cant make the gameday roster. what a waste. what they do have is one of the best running backs in the league. but he's their quarterback. -
lions currently pick 6th and 17th.

i dont think stroud will be there either.

this was probably the third best michigan team i can really remember. the early 70s teams are generally thought of as bo's best, but the 85-86 teams with harbaugh at qb were the best i can remember from bo's days. lloyd's best team was 97 obviously, but the brady teams were right there too. for some reason the 06 team just doesnt rate as highly for me considering what happened to them at the end. mo had some good squads too. the team that tied 3 games was good. desmond's hesiman year was a really good team who just met up with a juggernaut washington team in the rose bowl and got embarassed.
