  1. wait....what? vancouver? why would vancouver do that? hronek really turned a corner this year. van wanted a right handed defenseman. huh. hronek got exposed the last two games (like everyone else on this team). damn stevie. that's rude to take vancouver's lunch money like that.
  2. who was the last qb who was a "must trade up to get him" qb? trevor lawrence? andrew luck? guys who are "must trade up to get" dont get traded. whomever has the pick takes a qb. if caleb williams were in this draft the bears would be trading justin fields.
  3. they need physical guys like bertuzzi. but given his injury history and likely contract demands, they should probably deal him. signing larkin to that deal after he was nowhere to be found the last two days is bad timing to me. im interested in seeing what this team will do when ottawa comes to detroit, but i suspect it will be nothing. theyre just not that kind of team.
  4. horvat was 8.5. wings were in a bad spot. had to keep him so they overpaid a bit. now go trade bertuzzi.
  5. seems a bit high.
  6. carter is charged with a misdemeanor, he wont do jail time and will likely get community service. the way it works in georgia - or the way it worked when i had highway death cases in georgia - is the state police investigate it and release a pretty comprehensive report. the quality if that report is sometimes questionable, but it is pretty comprehensive we'll know more in the years to come when carter and the bar they were at get sued for wrongful death, dramshop, etc.
  7. lol. and play with how many balls? that team doesnt pass now. porter, green, AND harden? oh my goodness...
  8. i dont think so. i think you hear about it more often because of social media.
  9. ruggs was driving the car, right?
  10. its you. if anything, different types of drugs have become issues, but drinking has ALWAYS been an issue.
  11. if the lions draft a qb at #6 or #18 its not to "draft a backup," its to draft a future starter. he may be a backup (or third string) this year, but its with an eye to the future. on that note, if richardson plays for ohio state or texas tech (like mahomes did) is he putting up similar numbers in those qb friendly systems? i dont know enough to know.
  12. ever the optimist...
  13. whoever told you that is stupid. everyone and their brother says "march madness." no one will ever be sued for saying that
  14. wake up call. lots of things to work on. lots of things to build on. need to get bigger and stronger.
  15. i hope he comes back to finish his career as a back up on a lions super bowl winning team, getting into a key game after the starter gets hurt and leading the lions to a great victory on their way to the promised land. then he can retire and we can retire his jersey as the best qb the team ever had.
  16. i think there's a 1% chance they trade fields. bryce young is 180 pounds soaking wet. not sure how long he'll last. really good qb, though, so i see what youre saying.
  17. i think you saw the thinking behind the chariot signing last night. he's a physical defenseman and the wings lack physical players. has it worked out? mmm....well... but i can see WHY he did it.
  18. it was interesting that lowe has the pistons 1. the rockets are a mess. interesting to hear givony on killian and jabari smith and how he's down on both of them. lowe was at least a little positive on killian and they both love duren.
  19. the pistons and houston are equally terrible. but the pistons are without cade and houston is WITH jalen green and jabari smith. every day looks more and more like detroit made the right decision not to take green. he has highlight reel athleticism but hasnt improved one bit yet. still young obviously, but he has a lot of growing up to do to live up to his draft slot.
  20. that's a steal for walman. he and seider have been immense. caveat: you saw walman really struggle last night with a physical forechecking team that took his outlet pass to seider away and went right at him. he'll need to get tougher and quicker.
  21. hopefully between this game and the ridiculous amounts of assets teams are giving up for players, yzerman can fleece someone on bertuzzi. this game really showed me how far away they are. that said, tonight is a different night. hopefully they get refs who call an even game and penalize ottawa for some of their rough house tactics. im all for physical play, but when the wings are getting charging calls for the same things that ottawa is getting away with, and larkin gets a roughing call for having his glove touch a guy's face while debrincat is able to punch seider in the face with no call, it just isnt fair. they did their usual ref thing by evening out the calls after the game was already decided, but that was some of the biggest home cooking ive seen in a non-playoff game in a long time. i was disappointed lalonde didnt say something. you never want to use the refs as an excuse, but you also want to protect your team and have some gamesmanship setting them up for the next night so it doesnt happen again.
  22. its a great city to visit. and to eat in! (just dont get car jacked...) mayoral election is today! fun times.
  23. i couldnt do that anywhere other than a cheap bar. yesterday i went to lunch with a friend, we both got salads with chicken (she got salmon cause she's fancy) and a diet coke, the total bill after tip was $65. went to a bar the week before and paid about the same for a reuben and a coke. $30 after tip. maybe i tip too much? lol. just a cheap garbage take out salad in the loop costs $15. dinner is going to run you between $25-35 for an average entree. $10-15 for a salad or appetizer. $10-15 for a glass of wine or $35-50 for a cheap bottle. $10-15 for a cocktail. $5-7 for a coke. $10-15 for dessert. that's like $60-80 per person right there. and that is not in the fanciest places in the city. if we go out to a super nice restaurant without the kids, it will be at least $100 per person. usually more. chicago is the greatest food city in america, but its expensive.
