you answered your own question in your second paragraph. other than mcneil, theyre weak at defensive tackle. they dont have an established outside receiver on the roster. linebacker is below average. qb is average. on paper, they have a strong running back room and a strong oline. an effective game manager at qb but no backup. an excellent slot receiver and a potential burner on the outside. they have depth in the secondary but no #1 corner. they need young talent at cornerback. they could use another receiver. they need a run stuffing defensive tackle to play alongside mcneil.

what if they dont feel its a down year for qbs? just sayin... mosely and cgj are on one year deals, okudah's fifth year is not going to get picked up, the lions will be drafting a cb this year (maybe two). just a matter of where in the draft. they also still have a big hole at defensive tackle and can use another linebacker. and for the love of god please sign someone to play backup qb. like mc said, this is the first time in ages they seem to have a real shot at the division, lets not ruin it with goff going down week 1.

i dont want to break the bank for a backup qb. it would be nice to have a solid backup you could trust. as san francisco showed last year, if you have a good OC and good team structure, you can put a decent game manager at qb and be fine. that said, i'd feel a lot better about it if teddy bridgewater were the backup than nate sudfeld or some rookie. just because goff has been durable for his career doesnt mean he wont get injured. its football. i dont want one bad hit to ruin the lions best chance to win the division in a decade. heck, the way the rams are going, stafford might end up a viable backup for detroit this year...
