Week Four: Detroit Lions (2-1) @ Green Bay Packers (2-1)
buddha replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
every play that doesnt result in a touchdown is ben johnson's fault. every holding call, every nine yard play, every sack, every pick, every two yard run, every dropped pass. its amazing the lions have won any games with such incompetence. -

i anticipate tp calling for aaron glenn's firing after the packers pick up their initial first down of the game, even though he will later correct himself and blame the correct party for the terrible defensive call: ben johnson. -
i thought norman WAS martin mayhew the way he would defend everything he did. nastro too. he finally left after quintricia turned out to be terrible.

msu was very thuggish under dantonio. no matter how much he talked about jesus and family.
-
swift will be healthy this year, he's playing for a contract.
-
dantonio - despite being a complete moral fraud - was a good football coach.
-
state succeeds when michigan is down, that's the biggest reason dantonio succeeded. michigan got harbaugh and shortly thereafter michigan was back on top.

i dont think there's any way he makes the wings this year. too many in front of him. and they were playing the pens' AHL team last night. they should have dominated (and they did).
-
we also dont know if they werent interested. we know they would have rather had pick #12 and a second rounder rather than him, but they might still have been interested. i think it was a mistake, but we shall see. it is way too early to say one way or another. and i understand the gibbs pick a lot more than the campbell pick. not to re-litigate the draft...

"[jalen]Carter has been a force within the Eagles defensive line. He’s picked up 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and five total tackles (two of them for a loss) during his first three games. Carter ranks seventh in pressure percentage among 195 qualified pass rushers (minimum 36 pass rush snaps) with a 20.5 percent rate. That’s All-Pro level type pressure." we're going to regret passing on aaron donald 2.0.

danielson tracked back and stole the puck at center ice, then after rhe dump in he took the puck off the guy in the corner to get possession, then finished after the hirose pass.

you'll have to see it somewhere else because johnson is almost assuredly going to get a hc gig next season. then again, i thought he would leave after this year so what do i know? -

no, you're right. it was because goff was injured. i went back and checked. that said, he played poorly for the rams that season and poorly for the lions the next season. the goff debate has been beaten to death here, so my only point is that i dont think its unreasonable to think johnson played a part in his resurgence given goff's poor play for multiple seasons. the important thing is that goff is playing very well. much better than i thought he was capable of playing. -

because he was terrible for a couple years until johnson took over. he was benched in LA a couple times because he was so bad and his first year here was awful. goff had a couple good seasons with mcvay too. i understand your point, but i do think its not unfair to wonder if goff's resurgence has a least a little bit to do with johnson. i think its a combination of goff being a smart qb, johnson being a good play caller, and the talent around goff being upgraded (st brown in particular). -
as a michigan fan, i'd be very happy if msu hired pj fleck.

they were up by two touchdowns in the 4th quarter. they should win that game. if the packers are healthy, it will be a challenging game. -

hooker isnt going to play this year unless goff and bridgewater get hurt. we'll find out what they think about him next year in training camp. does he look good? does he look like a poor man's justin fields? we wont know until next year. -

i think all those guys are expected back, with the scuttlebutt being they sat out because of the quick turnaround to this game. but that's scuttlebutt. never go full scuttlebutt. -

sure they probably should have lost to new orleans, but they should have beaten the falcons. -

the bigger question is whether they believe in hendon hooker. you have goff for next year and - if you want - the year after on a tag if you want to pay it. should be enough time to evaluate whether hooker is anything more than a backup qb. -

no need to. 1 more year left and then you can franchise him if you want to. but he has continued to look good. -

if the chargers had lost that game, i think there is a good chance he's fired before monday.
