  1. stanley johnson is a below average nba athlete. the only thing that sounds like stanley is he cant shoot.
  2. this isnt a great free agent class, so im not that concerned if they dont splash big cash. but they have an extreme need for a cornerback, so if they want to put all their free agent eggs into the bradberry or dean basket, i'm cool with it.
  3. poetic justice would be for all of okc's stars to get hurt now, since when theyre not winning they always make them sit for this part of the season.
  4. eliotte friedman reported that bert is off the market. take that for what its worth, but he's usually a good source.
  5. btw, seider returning to his form from last year has been the most encouraging thing this season. walman becoming a legit top 4 defenseman shows yet again that yzerman has a very good eye for talent.
  6. athletic's model gives the wings an 18% chance to make the playoffs. but it was only 1% a few weeks ago! i'd still deal bert if a good deal came along, but the price should be very high. like a top prospect and a 1st or 2nd (depending on the prospect). they have the second toughest schedule in the league down the stretch, that might keep them out. on the flipside, buffalo has the toughest. we should know where they are after this week, starting tonight. if they play well and win, that's a sign maybe they should keep bert. if they get outplayed but have puck luck (like the last edmonton game), i'd still deal him. i expect them to get outplayed tonight, but i hope im wrong.
  7. luck, that would explain the points scored. which would also explain patricia's strange rise to prominance. the luck of hitching his wagon to bill belicheck. cause its not what you know, its who you know. and, iirc, i said if they were going to hire patricia they should have done it the year before when quinn was initially hired rather than letting caldwell drift in the wind and supposedly "drafting to suit caldwell's scheme", which was quinn's excuse when he took jarad davis and teez tabor. bob quinn, btw, now a "senior executive consultant" with the browns. man, it must be nice to be in the club.
  8. all star game ratings fell to their lowest level ever. by far.
  9. i havent brought up marcelo mayer once. honestly, if avila drafted mayer, i would have the same thoughts about mayer. avila was bad at his job. anyone can see that, even those who bring up some fringe AA player they think will magically be a good major leaguer because he had a nice year last year. will avila get lucky once in a while? sure. like with skubal. but 9 1/2 times out of 10 he didnt. and wont. lets see what the new regime can do with the players he drafted. hopefully turn lemons in lemonade.
  10. dvoa rankings under patricia: 2012: 17 2013: 20 2014: 12 (lions were #1) 2015: 11 2016: 16 2017: 31 (the second worst in the nfl) ****** post patricia: 2018: 19 2019: 1 you brought this up to defend the lions when they hired him too. the pats' defenses under patricia were either nothing special or terrible. when he left, they got better. and then he went back to coach the offense this year and immediately made it terrible. he's not a good football coach.
  11. no kidding. but neither are any of the prospects cruzer brought up. every al avila prospect should be looked at with a massive grain of salt because his track record is terrible. were fans. we dont know shit. the only person in here who knows shit is micro.
  12. why shouldnt miller play?
  13. you can die on al avila hill if you want. i'd rather not.
  14. exactly. he just heard about spin rates and found jobe.
  15. blind squirrels and nuts. and those guys havent done anything at the major league level. lets talk then.
  16. worse, they were one of the worst defenses in the nfl and were bailed out by tom brady.
  17. the rumor was he was trying to trade up for chase, but that's obviously never been proven. i think both the bengals and lions are happy with their picks from that draft.
  18. you never know what will happen. i still see a scenario where they trade up to get carter at 3. but im probably being naive. i dont see arizona trading out of that spot because theyre almost guaranteed to get one of carter or anderson and they need dline help and those two seem to be universally rated as the two best prospects in the whole class.
  19. i understand your point, but i disagree with many (most?) of those other situations. but for pr purposes youre probably right. although the bucks did just give meyers leonard a ten day contract. now, leonard did something MOST people would agree if less harmful than what miller is accused by many of doing, but maybe its a sign that some corporations are ready to provide people with second chances again? probably not. as to miller, there is a dispute that his car was blocking anyone. he claims to merely have parked the car, told the other dude where it was, and then left for dinner. do i beleive that? hmmm....dunno.
  20. i hope i am wrong, but that jobe pick looks worse by the day. its way too early for me think anything like that, and chas is right that we should let the new regime work with him before we make any judgments, but given Al's track record, i dont have good vibes.
  21. i'll be stunned if porter is available at 18 and robinson is around at 55.
  22. as he should. i might take a look at the young man's character, but something like this where he wasnt charged shouldnt be a reason for him to be excluded from playing nba basketball.
  23. next gen stats gave mitchell an athleticism score of 82 and hockeson a score of 77. so there's that if you pay those scores any mind.
  24. no thanks. they'll need that money for st brown. doesnt seem like a holmes move. seems like he wants to reward his guys.
  25. better version of murray keegan?
