  1. correct. goff would be a sitting duck on the bears. fields succeeded because he is the best running back in the league. goff would have no one to throw to and no time to do it. you cant just take goff's stats from this lions team and plunk them down on the bears. goff would get killed on that team. which is not a knock on goff, its a knock on the bears.
  2. i would be extremely surprised if the bears were that creative. they also have so many holes AND they traded the first pick in the second round for chase freaking claypool, which doesnt make me have a lot of confidence in their leadership. they have 100 million in cap space and are likely to use it on darron payne and orlando brown. that's a start, but they are so massively talent deficient and fields is going to get expensive in two years. honestly, that's the biggest thing with their plans. fields will be in year 3 next year and the team stinks. they are going to lose the "rookie qb scale" advantage very soon. if he becomes lamar jackson, its all good. if he doesnt, they have to start over. that's why a lot of people are advocating they take a qb number one this year and either ditch fields or make him a receiver/utility player. like you said cruzer, that would be dangerous. they wont do it. its too radical. they'll either trade down and/or take anderson or carter.
  3. they talk about fields like he's lamar jackson here in chicago. in fairness, he is a dynamic runner. maybe the best athlete at qb in the league. and this coaching staff was able to get some good stuff out of him. moreover, he playes behind the worst offensive line and with the worst receiving corps in the league. the bears truly are terrible. with a decent line and decent receivers, fields should be better. that said, he still seems to have problems getting the ball out quickly and diagnosing plays. and i dont think he'll be able to play without getting injured if he keeps playing that style. he'd be a great change of pace player on the lions, but not at the salary he's going to command soon.
  4. i'd keep 6 and draft a qb. fields is due to get paid in 2 years. gimme the qb on the rookie deal and i'll build the roster around him. besides, im sure tom brady would reconsider his retirement talk if he knew the lions job was open.
  5. michigan loses out on nyck harbor and will have a grand total of 0 5* kids in this poor recruiting class. they better get their act together or this is going to be the high point of harbaugh's tenure.
  6. the bears SHOULD do that, but wont. the lions shouldnt do that, and wont.
  7. the pistons might not lose this game...if they continue to be stuck in dallas.
  8. dan schatzeder. miss you bro. i still miss listening to ernie talk about aurelio rodriguez. loved that guy
  9. im not a big wilson fan, and i kind of hope he fails miserably. but he did improve once hackett left town. maybe he wasnt the only thing wrong in denver? dunno.
  10. houston is a shit show. as long as that gm and owner are there, its going to be a rough ride.
  11. did you really need convincing to coach denver over houston? that's a pretty good gig for your first head coaching job.
  12. at least we'll get a draft pick if he gets the job.
  13. ryans to the texans. poor aaron glenn is never getting a job.
  14. make him earn it. if he does and you cant re-sign him, you can always franchise him. he also might be a better safety than corner. that could be in the works too. melifonwu isnt working out so far at corner or safety, so it looks like they'll need to replace him too.
  15. hopefully. cause he looked bad.
  16. did i say i "didnt like cherry picking"?
  17. yes, as i wrote, people cherry pick games and stats to support the point theyre trying to make. i do it. so do you
  18. people cherry pick games and stats for their own convenience depending upon what point theyre trying to make. the lions played a really tough schedule to start the year and went 1-6. they played a much easier schedule in the second half and went 8-2. they also had a fair degree of good fortune this year and goff was healthy all year long. theyre on the right track for sure, but theyre not as good as the eagles or niners this year. i dont think they were as good as the cowboys either. the lions are not an elite team. they were; however, as good as the rest of the bad nfc last year. probably the best of the rest. and that is really saying something considering the depths from whence they came.
  19. lol. nyah, i'm just teasing you. 🙂
  20. i think youre right about the eagles/niners. both of them likely run over the lions like the panthers did. i think the lions will try to make a move for a corner this year in free agency (and the draft). that's the one area where they are really talent deficient. okudah got benched at the end of the year and, quite honestly, played his best football as a safety in the box (against dallas) rather than as a corner. yeah yeah vikings game against jefferson, but that was mostly double coverage. okudah was beaten a lot this year, iirc. and was subsequently benched. if i had to guess, i bet they dont pick up his 5th year option. they'll need a few corners in the next few years and they cant all come through the draft.
  21. i still think trey lance will work out if he gets healthy. his running opens up a whole new set of plays for shanahan.
  22. hard pass for that money.
