  1. but jack is good. anzalone is not good. in fact, he was bad last year. harris was good, but was it a fluke. we'll see. walker was fine. not great. not bad. the lions secondary had some decent games last year. their linebackers were very poor. their defensive line was - in general - not great, especially against the run. mcneill was good, but onzuwerike, penisini, brockers, williams were not. they need to upgrade all those positions. we'll see how the draft goes and if they address it again there, but again, right now theyre just running it back with the front seven that got thrashed last year and hoping okwara is 100% from an achilles. but its still early, plenty of time to add people.
  2. chark was a good risk to bet on.
  3. im not convinced okudah and okwara will be back to full strength next season. achilles take a long time to fully recover. i like the direction the franchise is headed. let's see who they draft this year before we completely judge the offseason. but so far, i see trouble ahead next year on defense without a lot of internal improvements.
  4. i wouldnt call it a massive improvement. do you remember the eagles game? or the broncos game? or the seahawks game? sure they looked fine against inept offenses like the browns and steelers and bears. but they got absolutely worked in a lot of those games in the second of the season. the lions seemed like a "try hard" team last year (which campbell and co deserve a ton of credit for), but i dont know how well that will translate in the future. otoh, theyre not done yet in free agency or the draft, and i think this is a recognition by the front office that they still have a long way to go before they start competing.
  5. exactly how i feel. the defense was terrible last yeae and the lions' response has been to bring all the players back and give them raises.
  6. what is that? like .50 cents?
  7. i hope they dont. that's a ton of money for the last line of defense. i'd rather they focus on the front lines of the defense. or get a receiver.
  8. ask stephon gilmore and malcom butler. or maybe more appropriately, ask the teams that signed them. as lions fans, we should know all too well the folly of trying to replicate the performance of patriots outside of new england.
  9. he'll get more than kirk.
  10. the franchise that hired urban meyer doesnt know what its doing? nobody could have seen that coming...
  11. go home jacksonville, youre drunk.
  12. that would be quite an expression of intent if they signed robinson.
  13. who cares about the anti-trust exemption? im not sure the people who seem most concerned about it - minor league players - would really like the results. if major league teams cant control their minor leagur affiliates or have to pay minor league players appreciably more money, they will drastically cut back on the system. even more than they just did. might see a boom in college baseball as a minor league feeder like in football...
  14. btw, the lions gave up more for trinity benson than the browns did for amari cooper. whomp whomp.
  15. yeah....getting the band back together for a bad defense wasnt what i had in mind when i thought they might improve next season...
  16. looks like the lions are bringing anzalone back. not sure how many other roster spots they will have for expensive linebackers, especially if they run it back with reeves maybin too.
  17. let's hope he doesnt reach those incentives. but it doesnt matter. he's a backup qb. no point in spending money there.
  18. can we get more than one shot in the first period this time?
  19. the eternal optimist...
  20. didnt he score it against calgary?
  21. i dont think that's a "steal" for reynolds, but rather is a good contract for both sides because it values reynolds correctly. the dude was on the scrap heap last season and had a couple good games for the last place lions. he's a nice depth piece and is being paid accordingly.
