  1. No, I don't believe that. I'm pretty sure Harbaugh doesn't believe that. I don't think it's about being superior - I think Harbaugh may want to try to win at the next level again. I think he sees it as a challenge.
  2. On a team that is coming off 3 years of Patricia, Campbell's first job was to rebuild them .. as players. I think that, more than anything, led to him taking over the play-calling - to be in Goff's ear. I think we saw the fruits of that in the last 4 games. For that, I give him an A.
  3. Yeah, I don't think the odds are that high either .. especially for a QB. I wonder if someone might want to jump up for Hutch or Thibs? I'd much rather have an extra pick or 2.
  4. I think the position, in Harbaugh's mind, trumps any concerns over transfers/NIL - IF he goes to the NFL, it will be because he has the drive to prove himself once again. I think leaving SF the way he did left a bad taste in his mouth.
  5. I would imagine they'd post the job - interview candidates both within & without the organization - but I would not be surprised to see Deuce Staley get the chance. I think Deuce "gets" Dan Campbell. Not just the hard-nosed, run the ball, bite a knee cap guy, but the encourager - the positive force.
  6. We cut Spectrum TV about a year ago. THE worst DVR I have ever experienced & way too much money for what we got. We have an indoor antenna for locals & use a FireStick with Prime, BritBox, & the Disney Bundle package. Though I have tried a dozen times to use the ESPN app, which is part of the package, & it has not worked once. I craps out when it asks who your cable provider is - It gives Hulu as a choice, but when I tap all my info in it just hangs up & never connects. I had to do a FuboTV 7-day trial to watch the Michigan-Georgia game.
  7. I hate what the current system has done to bowl games. As for whether the games are meaningless, I personally disagree. Was going to the Rose Bowl a failure when there was no playoff, even though there was no way they would win the national championship - mythical as it may have been. To me it's about honoring all the other players you played with.
  8. I never considered myself a beer snob, but I drink so rarely that I don't want to waste my money on most of the typical fare at restaurants. The light beers & Buds of the world. This kind of thing you mention would drive me up a wall.
  9. That whole last week in `87 was amazing .. capped by the sweep of the Jays. Loved that season!
  10. Me too. Perhaps it's because he had Cam Newton under center.
  11. You're not wrong about the moralism though. I have committed the last 25 years of my life to working at a non-profit, Christian ministry. The stories I could tell about what ruffles peoples feathers would astound you.
  12. I think the notion of purity, as you put it, started with the Black Sox scandal. It has stuck around, especially in baseball with the Pete Rose mess, but leaked into other sports as well because we are terrible as a society at understanding nuances.
  13. Make that 4 of us. I've waivered back & forth on this all year. At first I was completely against a QB in this draft, but as Goff struggled I thought it may have to happen. Now I'm back on just fill up on all of the other talent you can get. Ya see what 1 win does to your reasoning?
  14. I also read that Gus has made it a thing to congratulate the winning team each year @ the B1G Championship. Yes he's a UM fan, but he may have been down there congratulating Iowa if it had gone the other way.
  15. As I mentioned in the game thread, I think Campbell took over the play calling for one reason only - to build Goff's confidence. I had heard nothing about rumors of butting heads, but that would lend credence to my theory, I believe. Sean McVay was notorious for calling Goff out on the field & off. His confidence is shattered. His ability may or may not be enough to take the Lions places in the coming years, but you play the cards you're dealt. Campbell, as I see it, is trying to make the best of the situation by building up Goff's confidence - the anti-McVay approach. I have my doubts that Goff will ever be good enough - but as a leader it makes sense for Campbell to try do bring out his best in his QB, even if it means taking over an area that is not his strong suit.
  16. I'm not the type to call out anybody else for their opinions. To each his own, but I don't understand the vitriol toward Campbell. There's a huge difference between him & Patrica - he has this team. They love him. Goff ran right over to him .. Did you see the locker room come around him? Never did that over the last 3 seasons. I get that he's made some bad moves. I'm not saying any different, but as a leader his relentlessly moving forward is exactly what this organization needs. After the first 5 losses, I figured this season was over - so let's let him learn everything he can learn. You do that by doing - making mistakes - & then learning. I think yesterday is an example of learning. He could have punted the ball - I probably would have - but after giving the ball back how many times this year, only to have teams chew up 4-8 minutes of clock, I get the desire to go. Yes the call didn't work - but it gave his team a chance. This time it worked. I personally think he took over play calling for only one reason - to get into the ear of Jared Goff. Sean McVay ridiculed & pummeled Goff on the field & off - Dan Campbell is trying to rebuild his confidence. I don't think it has anything to do with Anthony Lynn's ability as a play caller - it's all about lifting up Goff's confidence. Like many of you I have my doubts Goff's ability as a QB - his coach may have those same doubts, which is why he wants to be the voice in his ear. I think we will see Campbell grow as a coach as his players get better in the coming years & there's more talent around him.
  17. I was always a big Stafford fan, & after the trade a part of me really wanted to see him do well. Now I hope they just keep losing.
  18. After watching Saturday I think Hutch is a better fit for the Lions, more because of his motor. The guy obviously has talent, & will run thru a brick wall for you. That has Dan Campbell written all over it. I'm hoping for 1 of the OSU WR's with the Rams pick.
  19. I remember being enamored with Aurelio Rodriguez's black glove as a kid. I'd never seen a glove SHINE like that.
  20. I started out a Vikings fan. LOVED Fran Tarkenton, Chuck Foreman & the Purple People Eaters D. Then Gary Danielson came to my hometown one year, hung out all afternoon with me & my neighborhood friends, played catch & signed footballs for us. If I ever see Gary Danielson again, I'm gonna punch him right in the mouth.
  21. I don't think the deal is bad - Certainly glad we upgraded, but I'm a little worried about the K/BB rate.
  22. It's especially bad with the new bright lights. I love having them - but it's like they burn your retinas when coming right at you.
