  1. That Skubal’s name is even a part of the 2022 trade deadline conversation is a glaring admission of what a total failure this organization is at this point.
  2. Personally, I have tried not to attack the person when I disagree with someone. The ideas and words expressed by individuals do originate with the person, or at least are conveyed through the person. But, I try to avoid derogatory comments attacking THE person. Am I perfect on that? NO! When I read comments here that involve the person’s family, that is bothersome, a low bar. Criticize Harbaugh’s position all you want. As far as Harbaugh’s history, you guys are far more knowledgeable than I as I don’t live in that part of the country. I am only responding to the specific topic that was his comments surrounding his willingness to adopt.
  3. I am basing my responses to what has been discussed here. You probably have a more knowledgeable history of Harbaugh’s comments than I.
  4. Harbaugh doesn’t need to tell anybody anything. That he he chooses to speak out on the topic shouldn’t make him fair game for personal attacks. That a public figure publicly states that he and his family are willing to adopt a child, that may be without a home otherwise, is construed as a display arrogance is difficult to believe in a real sense. Has the politics surrounding this issue moved that far from reality? I’m totally missing the “better than you vibe” as well. My impression is that you aren’t very fond of Harbaugh, politics or not. Just…an impression.
  5. What Harbaugh says publicly is fair game for debate. I’m sure he realizes he is fair game for having his positions and ideas criticized. My issue, again, concern the personal attacks and derogatory remarks directed at him and his family. Criticize his position if you like but there is no reason to make snide and derogatory remarks about him as a person or his family.
  6. I don’t understand the bitterness directed at someone like Harbaugh that speaks out in support of taking on a child to raise. What has it got to do with anyone not directly involved in his decision? Seriously, what business is it of yours, or anybody else’s, if he and his family are willing to offer to take on an unwanted child? My son and his wife adopted our first grandson. It is not easy and it is not cheap. Whether you support or oppose abortion should not be a reason to make derogatory comments toward those families that are interested and willing to take on those responsibilities.
  7. Unfortunately, none of this matters if the organization can’t develop these kids to be productive at the major league level. Al has proven you can consistently be awarded top tier draft picks and still fall flat on your face. The problem isn’t the draft picks, it’s where they end up after they join the organization.
  8. Javy put the rally to rest.
  9. PHOENIX -- The D-backs' first-round pick (second overall) in the 2022 MLB Draft, outfielder Druw Jones, injured his left (non-throwing) shoulder while taking batting practice Monday at the club's Salt River Fields facility. "He was just taking BP," D-backs farm director Josh Barfield said. "It was his first workout, and he was in his last round of BP on the field. On his second to last swing he just felt something in his shoulder. It didn’t take him to his knees or anything like that, he just said he felt something." Jones, in fact, was going to proceed to the outfield to do his defensive work, but the D-backs decided to take the cautious route and immediately sent him for an MRI, which showed the injury. Jones will see team physician Gary Waslewski on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury and what the next steps will be. It's possible that Jones will need surgery, but that won't be known for sure until he's seen by Waslewski. Regardless, it appears that Jones will not play again this year.
  10. WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The Biden administration on Tuesday said it will sell an additional 20 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as part of a previous plan to tap the facility to calm oil prices boosted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and as demand recovers from the pandemic. ________________ This is ridiculously stupid politics. We don’t have a shortage and pump prices are in decline.
  11. MCD and KO reported positive results. I probably own some MCD in a fund but I wish I had bought this stock back in the day. It seems like MCD never disappoints.
  12. China tried to build a network of informants inside the Federal Reserve system, at one point threatening to imprison a Fed economist during a trip to Shanghai unless he agreed to provide nonpublic economic data, a congressional investigation found. The investigation by Republican staff members of the Senate’s Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs found that over a decade Fed employees were offered contracts with Chinese talent recruitment programs, which often include cash payments, and asked to provide information on the U.S. economy, interest rate changes and policies, according to a report of the findings released on Tuesday. In the case of the economist, the report said, Chinese officials in 2019 detained and tried to coerce him to share data and information on U.S. government policies, including on tariffs while the U.S. and China were in the midst of a trade war. 13. Long term, not a bad buy. Yield is still below 2% at current after hours quote though.
  14. As Jim would say, “You can’t make this up…” The Tigers have been plagued by pitching injuries, and manager A.J. Hinch told reporters (including Chris McCosky of The Detroit News) that the 2022 season is over for two of the club’s hurlers. Right-handers Alex Faedo and Kyle Funkhouser are both considering surgery — Faedo for a nagging hip problem, and Funkhouser for the shoulder strain that has kept him from pitching all season.
  15. I’m there. If Hinch was gone tomorrow I would be fine with it. This ‘effed up organization should hire Charlie Montoya yesterday. He is a talent that could serve this organization well. Hire him now and give him the remainder of this wasted season to familiarize himself with this ‘effed up org, top to bottom. At a minimum he could manage Toledo next year if he was interested. I’d prefer he manage at the MLB level in Detroit. Bring a hitting coach in with him.
  16. Several high profile CEO’s are on record as saying inflation is now “engrained” into our economy for the foreseeable future. I could see this as being true. I’ve seen several forecasts predicting the 10 year yield to be in the 2.5%-2.75% range next year. It has pulled back the past day or two, fwiw.
  17. FWIW, Cramer isn’t the only talking head making this claim.
  18. He is the all time wins leader as manager for the Durham Bulls. He is a solid baseball guy out of the Rays organization. It would be really nice, and smart, if Detroit could get him into the organization.
  19. Seriously, this team is snake bit big time. It can’t even locate its #1 starting pitcher!
  20. I hope I don’t offend any of the heathens on the board 🫣 but sincerely, prayers for President Biden. I probably don’t agree with much of anything he does but I have already prayed that he gets beyond this very soon and 100%. The job is hell to begin with.
  21. I’ve always believed Miggy’s contract had a lot to do with Verlander being squeezed out. That in addition to that disastrous VMart contract. Hated it then and I hate it now.
  22. Finally, we’re coming to grips with reality.
  23. Additionally, are we going to just look past the fact this organization is broken? Resolving the current problems should be above and beyond trying to make a splash in the market. This org can’t outspend its weaknesses. Going out and trading for a high profile player right now doesn’t improve the system. This goes back to having an inept GM. This is the road DD pursued. There wasn’t much organic improvement within the org which was a problem then. Address the problems internally first. Then if you need a player to put you over the top, sign one.
  24. Read Willie Horton’s newly released book. It was a good one. All Tiger fans will enjoy it.
  25. I’m borderline apathetic. I have lost any and all confidence in the leadership of this organization. Illitch, Avila, and Hinch. The problem is at the top and runs down. Avila admits he doesn’t know why the plan disintegrated this year. But hey, he’s angry 😉. Illitch doesn’t see a problem. That’s pathetic. Honestly, I think Hinch is regretting his decision to come to Detroit. It’s a bad situation all the way around. I don’t have any confidence whatsoever that any positive change will occur until some names change at the top. That qualifies as being…borderline apathetic.
