  1. Yes. We’re seeing a decline in prices here. I’ve seen as low as $4.20 a gallon in the past day or two.
  2. We’re #1 😉 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/13/north-carolina-is-no-1-in-americas-top-states-for-business.html
  3. Is there another person on this team that would have had the balls to do what Cabrera did yesterday? I know he’s been in the league forever and has seen it all, but that was a sweet take of third base. He probably has the oldest legs on the team. Why don’t younger players have this kind of mindset? The Tigers clearly don’t teach this and most likely don’t encourage it. Miggie forced an error by doing what he did. This is baseball.
  4. I would think this cements a 75 bps hike this month. The next question is, would they go a full 100 bps? The 10 yr benchmark jumped from 2.954 to 3.057 on the news.
  5. Inflation up 9.1% as reported this morning.
  6. As a friend of mine used to say to his opponent just before sinking the eight ball to end the game, “It’s all over but the crying.”
  7. Dividend payouts set another record in the second quarter, a reassuring sign to investors who have flocked to steady, income-generating stocks during the market downturn this year. The companies in the S&P 500 paid out a record $140.6 billion in dividends in the most recent quarter, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. That’s up from $137.6 billion in the first three months of the year and $123.4 billion in the same quarter last year. WSJ keep’em coming
  8. That may well be the case, clearly something is. He may be sitting at home watching Flintstone re-runs. All good. My issue is with the fact (provided AA is telling the truth) there is no communication. If Al Avila is being truthful in his message to the media, the problem lies with ERod and his agent. As a freakin’ common courtesy at least just notify the Tigers, the employer, that he isn’t coming back, no details needed. Problem solved. The team plugged this guy in as the #1 starter and he leaves the team early in the season. If we weren’t talking about the Tigers I probably wouldn’t believe it.
  9. If there is a dead horse to beat, this is it. This more than anything else is what should be discussed front and center. The guy gets a five year deal and you can’t even communicate with him less than three months into the first year first year of the contract. What a cluster. If Al says he knows details but can’t discuss, fine. However, when your GM sits there and publicly states he doesn’t know shit about the guys whereabouts….bad.
  10. In 2018 NC had several proposed amendments up for vote during the mid-term elections. The Voter ID was one of them. It passed with a large majority. One legal challenge after another has prevented the amendment from becoming law here. A book could be written on all the legal moves and challenges this has seen since 2018.
  11. It keeps the day moving along. Assumptions make the world go ‘round.
  12. I just watched Hinch’s post game presser from last nights game. I do believe the man was pissed. At least he isn’t still saying, we’re going to fix this or that. I guess reality has finally set in. You can’t fix this team as it is.
  13. I’m going to bet it probably surprised him as well as others. This is a shitty way to reward effort. He has gotten acclimated to this level and is holding his own for the most part. I have changed my mind on Tork, he needs to spend some time in Toledo. Earlier I was believing the light would come on for him but it ain’t happening. He is not progressing with the bat at all. I’m not down on the guy but you just have to see the obvious.
  14. This is what I said the other day. This team needs, in a bad way, to find speed at the top of the lineup. If Baddoo can maintain a decent consistency with his offensive productivity it would be great. This team is so out of sync with what good teams do. Greene and Baddoo at the top would be worth trying.
  15. For a team that’s been around for 120 years and has only won the WS four times, you may be on to something. At 67 years ‘mature’ I pretty much gave up on any hope of seeing this clown act win another W.S. I’d just like to see a winning season again, someday…
  16. I’d take that option right now. I believe that would be the best case scenario at this point.
  17. All hands on deck day.
  18. Speaking of California… Drivers will now pay about 3 cents more per gallon when the inflationary increase takes effect, with the tax rate slated to increase from 51.1 cents per gallon to 53.9 cents per gallon. That tax is built into the price of gas in California, which is hovering around $5.74 per gallon on average.May 2, 2022
  19. Very interesting. Not to go all anti-Al but if this info is even remotely factual, wouldn’t you think a GM would know this before throwing $77 million at a guy.
  20. Would be awesome if he came up and performed well. The Tigers really should look at using he and Greene to improve their speed at the top of the order. This team doesn’t do anything to force the defense’s hand on the bases. I doubt they would consider bringing speed into the mix as an approach but it sure would be nice.
  21. Has Grossman ever played any first base? He impresses me as a guy that could probably handle the position if he ever spent any time there. As an out of the box thought, Tork goes down and Baddoo comes up. Grossman to first. Baddoo in the outfield. Grossman and Miggie alternate DH, depending. I don’t think they’re going to DFA Grossman.
  22. So, my understanding of what defines a halfback is someone that initially moved from “up north” to Florida and than moved halfway back but stopped in the Carolinas. I guess that’s the accepted definition. My experience is that there are good and bad from any region of the country. There are many Californians moving into N.C. The rural parts of the state are probably less receptive to the newcomers. Our son and his family lived in the Bay Area for several years before returning to this side of the country. In spite of my political differences of all things California, I really enjoyed the area. Beautiful weather and temperatures. One of my grandsons was born in Alameda County. They relocated to Richmond, VA. Probably not terribly far from you. They all came back A’s fans.
  23. The boys are missing the table back home.
  24. It’s one thing to lose a game, it’s another to lose a game this way. Kind of undercuts the momentum that had been building.
  25. You have to be impressed with how this starting rotation, duct tape and all, has managed to keep this team in games recently.
