  1. In retrospect, it seems like the damage Avila inflicted on this organization is all of a sudden magnified. We knew it was bad but…it’s also like pulling back the bandage to realize how bad things really are. There is nothing that is not in need of repair in this organization. Bad.
  2. I have almost posted on this before but didn’t. Now that you bring this tragedy to light.., Before I retired I was a production supervisor in a facility that, like others, hired temporary workers to fill out positions in production that did not warrant a full time hire. One of the temporary employees hired at our plant was the player that hit the foul ball that killed Mike Coolbaugh. Another supervisor, and a good friend of mine, was from Puerto Rico. He knew the player and his family personally. We had like a nine game pack for the Durham Bulls around 2016-2017?…not exactly sure. As it ended up, myself, my supervisor friend, and the ballplayer discussed attended a Bulls game together. The players name is Tito for short. He had his cousins, brother, and father at the game. Those boys could put away some beer. Every time they made a beer run they would buy me a beer because I provided all the tickets to get in. I actually spoke to Tito for a good part of the game we were attending about his life in the minor leagues. Never did the issue of Coolbaugh’s tragic death come up. He was a nice guy and his stories were very entertaining regarding his minor league career. Pretty sure he was a catcher. He was a genuinely nice guy. I’m sure everyone knows that this is where the mandate for batting helmets originated for base coaches.
  3. The Texas Rangers are cleaning house. Fired their manager the other day and canned their baseball operations guy today.
  4. He got out of it thank goodness.
  5. I’ve tried. I can’t get past the “good team” thing.
  6. In hindsight I believe the appropriate term is, reshuffle. This team did, does, and for the foreseeable future, will suck.
  7. Guaranteed Rate Park will host a guaranteed Tigers loss today. Fire everybody!!!!
  8. Without Bumgarner, nah.
  9. Would he be a hitting coach for $40 million?
  10. I don’t think Hinch really has a plan.
  11. Sixteen times and counting this year.
  12. The problem lies with Hinch. Cabrera shouldn’t be in the lineup with his physical restraints. But, on the other hand, I don’t believe Hinch would raise the concern for any player on the team, healthy or not.
  13. Matt Manning takes the hill for the hapless Tigers. What fiascos are in store for this evening? Base running mistakes? Misjudged balls in the outfield? Middle infielders throwing errors? A historically (really!) bad offense? Only one way to find out fans. Tune in to tonight’s debacle for all the answers.
  14. After last night’s loss I thought more and more about this teams predicaments. I fully believe that AJ Hinch should be removed as manager. Al, in my opinion, made a mistake by hiring Hinch. Al made a lot of mistakes. I have reservations about the entire dugout staff at this point. I believe this organization needs a clean start over from the GM to the manager and through the dugout. They’re all a part of this fiasco. I wonder why all our pitchers end up with serious arm injuries? Have they been pushed into using mechanics that they’re not comfortable with? Who knows? The bats are nonexistent on this team. Dan said last night that this offense is challenging the futility of the 1904 Detroit Tigers offense. i don’t believe Hinch ever discusses a players bad habits or bad decisions with them personally. Said it before, I believe he is a go along to get along kind of manager. That’s what he did in Houston. He didn’t control the dugout. I realize managers roles have changed over the years but there has to be some kind of understanding among the players that there are expectations that have to be met. Clearly Baez should have slid into a base last night and didn’t. I’m confident no coach advised him otherwise after the inning. Too many things wrong to think a new GM can repair all of this. It’ll also take some new faces in the managers/coaches ranks to bring this full circle. Clean house.
  15. Finally, it’s over.
  16. The Orioles are set to pass the Rays tonight in the AL East standings with a win. Impressive.
  17. Baddoo needs to be elsewhere. His magic bus has long been gone.
  18. Whoever lands the GM job here will have his/her job cut out for them in a huge way. This team is a total disaster.
  19. I hope he stays as far away from Fetter as possible.
  20. Solid four innings for Norris. I say five innings tops if he can get three more outs.
  21. The Soto move lost some of its shine with this news.
