  1. Honestly, if I thought my child’s teacher was armed, for whatever reason, we’d be looking elsewhere or homeschooling. This idea is as bright as 💩!
  2. Someone on this board already stated that arming teachers as a measure of safety is an open admission that you don’t really have a solution, only a reaction. That is the absolute truth! Seriously, this would be the ultimate demonstration of failed ideas.
  3. So the market, in spite of last week, continues to decline. So have we still got buyers in here? I mean, this is it, right? 🤓
  4. Our son attended a Protestant parochial school from first grade through 12th grade. The majority of teachers at the school were women but there were several men teaching as well. I can attest without reservation that those teachers weren’t there for the sake of money. Prior to the beginning of his starting first grade we had him enrolled in a public school that was rated among the best. With a few weeks left before school would begin we opted to enroll him in the school he attended 12 years. During the summer just prior to his starting the eighth grade, we gave him an option of staying where he was (parochial school) or moving to a public school. We went so far as to tour the public school with him and had arranged for a friend of ours who was a teacher at the public school to personally show our son around. We literally left it up to him. He decided to stay put and we never looked back. Primary to every family when selecting a school should the ability to choose. Our circumstances were that we could afford the costs of the private education and I know that isn’t possible for a lot of families. And I realize many many families are opposed to anything outside a public education. But again, I would very much like to see families have choices when choosing where their kids go to school without being bound by income restrictions.
  5. On the first day of June the Tigers will be trying to pull to within 10 games under .500. Never would have thunk it.
  6. I’ll get excited when they have an open GM position.
  7. I watched the video and the call was atrocious. Equally surprising was Hinch’s oblivious non reaction to it. Did I miss something?
  8. Me either. After looking it up, indeed, God help mankind.
  9. WSJ NEWS EXCLUSIVE OPEC Weighs Suspending Russia From Oil-Production Deal Some OPEC members are exploring the idea of suspending Russia’s participation in an oil-production deal as Western sanctions and a partial European ban begin to undercut Moscow’s ability to pump more, OPEC delegates said.
  10. I commented on something like this in another thread recently. The American flag is used all day-every day for commercial purposes. It pisses me off to see these huuuuge American flags flying over car lots. It also pisses me off when these used car lots put smaller American flags on antennas and such. Worn and tattered flags being flown. I see it all the time. Either fly the flag properly or don’t fly the flag at all. I also hate to see the flag used for the police support thing with the flag stripes altered to make a political statement. ….still rolling here…. Under Armour and other clothing manufacturers have replaced the stars in the flag with their logo on their shirts. This pisses me off too. This is a total disrespect for the flag. The American flag is used all the time as a prop for commercial purposes. I have far more respect for someone burning the flag in true protest against the government than anyone using the flag for commercial purposes. American flags imprinted on the Covid masks is an assault on the flag as well. Why not just blow your nose on it! And…you always love to see the American flag swim shorts at the beach on the guy that is 350 pounds and wearing it in his crack. end of rant, for now.
  11. This seems to be a cornerstone argument for those that want to scrap the constitution. In its current state, as it were to be read today, point out where our current constitution protects or defends slavery. This of course would include any and all amendments since it’s inception.
  12. I’m interested in hearing your take on this. There have been numerous amendments to our constitution so I don’t know to what degree it is “in stone forever.” I’m sure there will be more amendments going forward. I’m a Thomas Jefferson fan and find his life interesting. In his own words, which I’m paraphrasing here, is that for the American citizenry to remain free they must remain educated. He personally oversaw the founding of UVA. He personally traveled abroad to seek out and bring educators to the new university. He wanted to have a first class learning experience (university) in Virginia. In other words, TJ walked the walk. The AJ Mapp two book volume on his life is a great read.
  13. I wonder if your negative perception of the constitution and the dudes that wrote it is a direct result of the current day behaviors and failures of the dudes that have sworn to uphold it and don’t.
  14. As dictated by Article VII, the document would not become binding until it was ratified by nine of the 13 states. Beginning on December 7, five states—Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut—ratified it in quick succession. However, other states, especially Massachusetts, opposed the document, as it failed to reserve un-delegated powers to the states and lacked constitutional protection of basic political rights, such as freedom of speech, religion, and the press. In February 1788, a compromise was reached under which Massachusetts and other states would agree to ratify the document with the assurance that amendments would be immediately proposed. The Constitution was thus narrowly ratified in Massachusetts, followed by Maryland and South Carolina. On June 21, 1788, New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the document, and it was subsequently agreed that government under the U.S. Constitution would begin on March 4, 1789. 15. Of the nine bats in the lineup for todays game, five are hitting under .200. Grossman is sitting square on .200.
  16. I can imagine God having the same sentiment regarding mankind.
  17. I hit a pay wall on the link but I would like to know if Brieske himself figured this out or it was something one of the coaches saw and suggested to him. I would like to think someone at the coaching level would be attentive enough to recognize this if this is in fact the case.
  18. The same thoughts have entered my thinking on this. I have been somewhat surprised to this point that the ethnicity of this school population hasn’t been directly introduced into the media coverage when assessing the total avoidance of action on the part of security and law enforcement. If it has before now, I haven’t seen it.
  19. The owner is obviously content with the status quo. Until that changes Avila will continue his reign of failure.
  20. That’s what I figured as well.
  21. lol! I think I had that reaction the first time I saw that as well.
  22. works every time.
  23. This is what happens when the American flag becomes a politicized object. The hijacking of the American flag for political advertisements of any persuasion pisses me off. So here we’ve got the American flag being used, simultaneously mind you, as a prop for a back and forth on police support and police critique. It’s stupid and disrespectful. My comment is not directed toward the person posting the picture here.
  24. Mark Meadows had a really good gig going until he decided to follow Trump. He represented a House district in NC that votes GOP every election, not even close. Cawthorne got elected out of the same district Meadows vacated to become Trump’s chief of staff. Meadows is paying the price for following Trump. I believe every single one of his kind are going to pay for their very poor choices regarding their actions around the January 6 debacle.
